Appearance

Standing at 6'1" with a strong and athletic frame, Alby towers over many others. She tends to appear intimidating until she smiles. Here's the catch; she's always smiling.
Alby has a honey complexion and thick waves of black hair. Her eyes are a warm russet, a reddish-brown color characteristic of her phoenix race. It can appear more red or more brown depending on factors such as her health or how determined she's feeling.
She has a notably deep voice for a woman, and sings tenor in her choir.

Although she likes her hair loose, oftentimes she needs to tie it back for practical reasons. She has an assortment of colorful elastics and ribbons for this purpose. Her favorite is a light pink bow. Definitely not as intimidating as her size would suggest.
Alby puts an emphasis on comfort over looks, meaning she sometimes wears pajamas in public. Her outfit choices can be quite bizarre and colorful. Despite her strange style, she does look approachable and casual. It's hard to be scared of someone wearing pink bunny slippers, no matter how tough they are.

As a phoenix, Alby has a close relationship with fire and can't be hurt by the flames. She can even control it to a small extent. It will sometimes rebel and give her an attitude, but that is the nature of fire.
Her greatest gift of all involves fire rather intimately. Being burned to death allows a phoenix to eventually rise from the ashes, and because this is the only way one can revive, a phoenix dying from other causes has a natural instinct to seek out fire. Alby remembers the time her sister Aspen broke her back climbing a tree, and had to be carried home to the fireplace. She was fine after reforming from the ashes the next morning.
Alby herself has never gone through such a fiery rite. Her mother warns that if she behaves recklessly, she will end up as ashes sooner or later. Better listen to mum.

Personality

Albizia lives by mottos such as "we rise by lifting others". Her cheerful determination is endless, and she is constantly trying to help everyone around her. The worse a situation gets, the stronger her optimism grows. She likes to be a beacon of hope for others when they need her most. No matter the time of day or the weather, she will find you and she will hug you.
Although she always seems confident, her greatest fear is being unable to help others. Alby builds her entire life and sense of self-worth around aiding those in need and brightening others' days. Truthfully, she struggles with feelings of inadequacy when she can't do enough. She doesn't understand the concept of living for herself; she becomes happy by making other people happy.

Alby is a lifelong friend who believes humans and supernaturals are alike, sharing the same inner goodness. She does not believe that a truly evil person exists anywhere. They're only misguided at worst. The only way to anger her is to harm innocent children,
She is incredibly trusting. It's easy to manipulate her kindness, and she won't even notice. Alby is gullible, especially when she believes someone is in danger. She's obsessed with the idea of being a hero, taking a bullet for someone and so on. She believes a phoenix like herself should take the responsibility of protecting others. Although Alby is reckless about her own safety, her valiant efforts have helped others in the past, and she would happily do that again.

Life

Albizia had a happy childhood. She was raised in a quiet village by a lake, affectionately known as Allergy Haven, as pollen allergies were the biggest concern of the municipal government. The village was that peaceful. Beautiful flowers bloomed in the spreading meadows of her hometown. Every evening, Alby would knock on all the doors in her neighborhood and invite her fellow kids out to play. Hide-and-seek in the park was fun at night, despite the mosquitoes that took the opportunity to attack.
Alby didn't do well in school, though she worked her hardest. She planned to attend a university and become a doctor, so she could save lives. However, her highest mark was in gym class. All her other grades were terrible, especially biology and chemistry, making her a poor candidate for med school. She was accepted to a community college for child care instead. Once she graduated, she immediately started working at her local daycare. She still works there to this day. Alby is known in the community for her kindness and the delicious treats she bakes for everybody.

Alby's father David is a fitness trainer, while her mother Willow and sister Aspen both work in law enforcement. However, it's a rather uneventful job in this city. The police force is small because nothing much happens. There's the occasional petty theft or bicycle collision, sometimes a shoplifting incident by some unruly teenage punk. The town deals with most crimes by assigning community service sentences. Offenders are provided with food and water as they work in the village gardens and parks, keeping them clean.
In recent years, Alby's older sister has begun courting a village man named Ashley. They are currently going steady, and Aspen plans to propose next month. Willow and David tried to encourage Alby to seek out a girlfriend or boyfriend too, but she hasn't found one yet.

It's ironic that she was chosen for this government project. This will surely please her parents. Alby can't wait to meet new friends and her new partner, and she's so excited to see what they'll be like. She dreams of moving back to her home village with her newfound partner and starting a family.
Alby was chosen for the project simply because the government wants a nice phoenix there. It's a safety precaution of sorts. Phoenixes tend to be protective in dangerous situations and conflicts. The government was worried about any potential fights during the project, so they were thinking Alby could prevent the others from harm. A phoenix can just heal herself by rising from the ashes anyway.

Appearance

Alastair stands at 6'2" with a broad-shouldered and muscular frame. Tall and athletic, with a deep and resounding voice, he seems like the stereotypical football quarterback who everybody is jealous of.
Truthfully, he once used his imposing size to intimidate others and get his way. He is now embarrassed at the way he acted as a teenager. Alastair understands that size and physical strength don't make a man, but he learned this the hard way.

He has dark brown hair and greenish eyes. Although he tries to keep his hair neat, it seems to have a mind of its own. It spikes up in all different directions no matter what. His parents both have longer hair and theirs are always neat, so maybe cutting it short is the wrong choice. He'll never know until he tries a new style.
Alastair's wardrobe is rather pretentious. Formal suits and pants line his closet, along with sleek coats to keep everything spotless. He has some exercise apparel, but he hates going to the gym and prefers to work out alone. Alastair feels too exposed when he's wearing a tank top and shorts around others. He would rather don his typical suit and tie.

Personality

Alastair presents as a chivalrous young man with strong ambitions for the future. He studied law in university, with the intentions of bringing justice upon those who harm the defenseless. He's the kind of person who always holds the door for others. On campus, he was involved with groups such as Green Club and the GSA. He constantly makes an effort to treat everybody with respect and equality.
To be honest, he is nowhere near as strong as he appears.

Alastair tries so hard because he was once the opposite. As a teenager, he was unruly and arrogant. He feels tremendous guilt and shame over the bully he used to be. Everything he does now, he thinks he's being hypocritical and fake, slapping old memories in the face. Alastair hasn't spoken to anyone about his guilt issues and it's eating him alive. He has an image of himself as a bad person trying to be good, a stupid teenager trying to be a man.
Alastair wants to learn and improve upon his flaws, but he's constantly painting himself as a villain. He wishes he could move forward and start anew. One day, he believes, he will truly be a 'real' man, but he's not sure when that day will come.

Life

As a teenager, Alastair was ignorant and arrogant. He pushed around others in high school for petty reasons like their wardrobe choices. It was incredibly immature, but he dismissed attempts to correct his behavior, believing he was too cool to be a 'nice guy'. He was used to getting his way because of his size and strength. At home, he picked on his sister and disrespected his parents. He thought he was above consequences and above everything in general.
His wake-up call came when he fell head over heels for a beautiful girl, new to the school. He attempted to impress her by acting cocky and rude, leading his posse of henchmen past her in the hallways. He would invite her to his sports games and then ignore her as he joked obnoxiously with his friends. Finally, the school dance was approaching, and Alastair asked her to be his date. She declined because she already had a boyfriend.
Furious, Alastair found the guy she had fallen for. It was a scrawny boy with glasses who was shy and timid, but had a reputation for being kind to everyone around him. Alastair could not comprehend why his crush had chosen this guy over the captain of the football team. He didn't hit the kid, though, since it would feel wrong even to a jerk like him.

The confusion eventually became too much. Alastair couldn't stop thinking about it, until one day he asked the girl how her relationship had started.
On her first day of school, she had dropped her textbooks all over the floor. She had to stop in the middle of the hallway to pick them up, and people were staring at the clumsy new kid. After gathering everything, she rose to her feet, only to be accidentally knocked over by a passing student. Instead of hurrying by, the student apologized and helped her pick everything up. It turned out they had the same class together and they ended up sitting side by side.
Eventually, a friendship formed. They would sit together in the cafeteria and tell jokes over the silliest things. If either dropped their plate by accident (they were both clumsy), the other would share their food. Over time, the girl fell in love with her sweet and kind friend. Knowing he was too timid to make a move, she asked him to the dance. He agreed and confessed that he'd been crushing on her for a while too.
Alastair wasn't sure how to feel about this story, but he thanked her for sharing anyway. It would eventually prove to be a turning point in his life.

He learned something that year. The people who hung around him were underlings and henchmen, not true friends. His surface popularity was because people feared him. Nobody truly held respect for him, because respect was earned, not demanded. And he went around demanding it from everybody. After revisiting his memories from his high school days, Alastair began to feel disgusted with his juvenile behavior.
When he graduated and went to university, he promised he would change. His behavior did a complete turnaround, from bully to gentleman. He formed a study group on campus and together they helped one another with their studies. For the first time, Alastair felt like he belonged to something, because he finally saw himself on equal ground with his peers. He was no better than they were and his old arrogance was merely immaturity.
Alastair remained single through his university years. He held tremendous guilt for the person he was as a teenager, and whenever he thought of making a move, he was reminded of his obnoxious behavior towards his high school crush. He has not been able to get past his tremendous disgust toward his younger self.

When Alastair was chosen for the government program, he took it as a sign. He was picked due to his 'upstanding morals' reported by his university. Alastair would feel proud of himself, but he can't bring himself to.
Maybe he can finally move forward now that he has a chance. This time, he will treat his partner with the respect they deserve.

Appearance

Farrah is short and scrawny, standing at 5'1". Anyone would guess from a first glance that she is underweight. Indeed she is, but that doesn't mean she is weak. She is an athlete who's so thin because she is constantly running. Her frame is light but athletic, and she's capable of running for hours and hours without stopping.
She resembles her mother, with soft brown skin, dark hair, and dusky eyes. She has a sister who looks just like her dad; blonde with blue eyes. The four of them are a strange combination and don't look related unless you're paying attention to facial features. Farrah has her father's nose.

She is almost always wearing some wacky colored athletic getup. A t-shirt and shorts is common for her. Farrah has long legs in proportion to her small size, and shorts show them off. It's clear she never skips leg day.
Farrah usually puts her hair in a tight ponytail. It whips everywhere when she runs, but she doesn't really care. Farrah is not a person who cares a lot about anything.

Personality

This young woman appears to have no filter. Any alignment test would peg her as Chaotic Neutral, if there's no Chaotic Chaotic option. She has a hard time remembering any rules. They go in one ear, and out the other. Obedience is for the dogs in her opinion. Humans in this country are born free, and should live free.
She enjoys jogging around the neighborhood while wearing weird looking stuff. She only buys white clothes, so she can tie-dye it in crazy ways. Tie-dyed things from the store are boring because she can't do it herself. A big part of the fun is seeing what comes out of the experiment. Tie-dye isn't all, though. Farrah will also try out strange fashions like wearing a scarf as a headband in summer, or running with squeaky shoes. She makes no sense and that's what she loves.

Farrah is also a prankster. She's always up for some good old mischief, especially when toilet paper is involved. She is nimble enough to get the toilet paper strung in the best places. Of course, the best practical jokes are ones where you don't get caught. Farrah spends her days dreaming of both pranks and her escape route afterwards.
She loves when people get revenge on her, because then she has an excuse to get revenge right back. Prank wars are her favorites. Of course, all's well until somebody gets hurt. Farrah is a troublemaker in good humor. She doesn't want things to get serious. After all, serious is boring.

Life

Farrah always felt her life was uneventful and boring. When she graduated high school, she was expected to go to university. But why should she? None of that stuff was interesting for her, and it seemed like a waste of money. So she became a lifeguard with her sister instead.
Farrah is incredibly close with her sister Shana. The two sisters look like opposites, and it's hilarious to see strangers' reactions when they find out these two are related. Shana, like her father, has blonde hair and big blue eyes. She's also different in personality. While the older sister is a carefree prankster, Shana is far more sensitive and quiet.
The sisters do what they call 'double shifts'. When Farrah is on duty, Shana spends her time swimming and making weird faces at her sister. When it's Shana's turn on the chair, Farrah runs along the shoreline, collecting strange rocks on the beach that she names. Then she throws them back to see whether Jordan or Anya will make the biggest splash.

Farrah was chosen for the government project due to her athletic achievements. Her success as a runner drew attention, and she was picked.
Why her and not another long-distance runner? Farrah doesn't really know, maybe it's random. Maybe she will encounter other long-distance runners and they might be better than her. The randomness of life and love is something she truly appreciates. Hence the tie-dye shirts.
