Overview

This roleplay will center around a team of Guardians - an elite force that have sworn their lives to defend inhabitants of the realms - and their exploits through the realms, chasing the corrupt and maleficent. The roleplay will function under a series of plot arcs - each focusing on one specific mission our team is assigned, and lasting however long we collectively agree we'd like to/need to spend on it before moving onto the next arc.

The process to become a Guardian is open to all, beginning at the age of 11, at the youngest - even those with criminal records may enlist to the force, abiding by certain restrictions and going through lengthier screening processes. All Guardians must first attend a Guardian academy for four years, learning the basics of multiverse history, culture, and traditions, along with preparation battle training. Though this training gives them negligible skills compared to the ones they'll need to develop as an amateur Guardian, they are still far more skilled than anyone with regular battle training would be by the end of their four years studying at an academy. Guardian academies are situated all across the realms, generally on more major or densely populated planets.

Very few graduate from the Guardian academies - the training and education is rigorous, demanding, and many are sent home within their first year. Those who do graduate still aren't guaranteed a successful career as a Guardian - many more are sent away or simply drop out within their first few months as a novice Guardian.

Upon graduation, aspiring Guardians are sent to the Guardian headquarters - a massive fortress in Neuvarik, the expansive void of light and space between realms. Neuvarik is often considered the central realm - though many don't believe it can quite be called a realm. The Guardian headquarters is a sprawling campus of spires and halls, suspended among the empty light of Neuvarik. The complex is centered around an ancient monument - an inter-realm portal, surrounded by ancient spires and mosaicwork as a shrine, of sorts. The origin of this portal is not known, though many historians across the realms have speculated as to its nature.

Rules & Guidelines

- All CS rules apply.
- Strive to use proper grammar, spelling, etc. to the best of your ability. Avoid one-liners, but bottom line, just give people something to reply to.
- Quality over quantity.
- Roleplayers may have a maximum of four characters - only create characters if you intend to actively play them.
- Post character forms to the discussion thread and await acceptance.

Characters

- Each member may have up to four characters - only create characters if you intend to actively play them.
- Unofficial filler characters may be roleplayed for brief times, or in insignificant roles.
- Characters don’t need to be human - if they aren’t, please explain their race in their form (appearance, abilities, culture & traditions, etc. - whatever you think others need to know)
- Characters may have abilities (telekinesis, telepathy, shapeshifting, elemental abilities, enhanced attributes, etc.) as long as they aren’t overpowered - submit whatever powers you’d like in your form (but do be reasonable), and if there’s an issue with them being overpowered, I’ll tell you - it won’t affect your likelihood of acceptance, as long as you’re willing to make changes. Abilities may be a result of your character’s non-human race, or a genetic defect, the result of an inhuman encounter, etc. in human characters (be creative, explain their abilities however you’d like).
- Characters may come from any sort of realm (including Earth, in any time period - this is a vast multiverse). All characters will have learned a universal common language in the Guardian academy they attended, but they may know other languages, either from their upbringing or that they learned elsewhere.

Feel free to add extra fields as you see fit and format this however you like, as long as you include all the prompted information.

Name: Lerato. He doesn't have a last name
Gender: Male
Age: Appears 24 despite being over 100
Species: Shih
Home world: Arcacia
Role: Warrior
Sexuality: Homosexual

Appearance: Upon first glance, Lerato would look like a plain and normal human if it weren't for his eyes that are pure white - no pupil, no iris, just plain whiteness. He stands at 5'7 and seemingly weighs nothing despite his lithe fighter build. His skin is pale white with few blemishes, a thin and small scar running diagonally across the right of his abdomen and a black tribal shaped birthmark that many typically mistake for a tattoo just under his belly button. His hair is a dark brown with a slight red tint and is shaved on the sides, leaving layered hair in a near mullet style. His outfits typically include clothing for it lessens the restraint of his movement, his shirt typically black and sleeveless that stops just above his birthmark with simple pants, comfortable boots and bandages wrapped around his forearms down to his hands to show that he uses his fists for fighting.

Personality: Lerato is a very kind and sweet person and is always gentle except for when he's fighting. He's caring of others and holds a bit of an innocent aura about him with the way he likes to help people, occasionally disregarding his own safety. He is predominantly cheery about most things and rarely lets anything bring him down, choosing to be the optimist instead of a pessimist and is overall a determined character except for when he feels he let someone down - situations like that tend to make him upset. He often tends to be excited to visit the different realms, eager to experience the different ways of living for himself instead of just simply learning about them. He's constantly eager to explore and likes to enjoy every moment of life, wanting to "listen to the music of life" as he likes to say, loving to listen to the sounds he considers the natural song that he hears from his surroundings be it the rain or the chatter of others. He sometimes tends to have the habit of having fun with a fight and not taking it seriously if it's not a serious fight but can easily change his mood if it's necessary. And although he's known to be more of a sweet and peaceful person, he should never be angered - his personality practically does a complete 180 upon being angered and he becomes a viscous person, though this is usually only done by hurting the people he cares for.

History: Lerato comes from a realm that's known for it's predominant use of magic, a majority of species knowing some or all types of magic available in that world. The Shih, however, are one of the few species that have little magic at their disposal. Instead they are known for their blindness and gypsy/druid like mannerisms for they travel in small groups. All Shih are born blind and with a specific mark like Lerato's birthmark, and have the ability to use sounds to navigate(to counter their blindness) and charm people with music, being able to tap into their souls and project so others can feel their emotion, however few groups do that now and instead work as hunters/mercenaries or as supposed fortunetellers. Lerato, though, born blind like all others like him, was born into a group that continued the tradition of music-playing, learning how to take care of himself in the simple and peaceful life they all led along with how to play the flute. However, when he was young, a run-in with a group of bad people led to Lerato getting separated from his family, later causing him to meet an Arcane elf named Malethor who took him in and took care of him, teaching him to read and write despite his blindness and even how to fight, making him one of the few Shih fighters in the world before going off to be a guardian.

Skills: He is extremely skilled in hand-to-hand combat, knowing many different fighting techniques and stances and uses brass knuckles. As a Shih, he of course has the ability to use the sounds bouncing off of objects to paint a mental image of his surroundings without actually seeing it(both physically and mentally), and can even hear things up up a certain distance if he focuses enough. He also has the ability to "charm" people with the music he plays, sort of like a siren but instead of luring people to their doom he just causes others to feel a strong sense of emotions - the emotions that he's feeling, to be more specific.

Other: He tends to make blind puns both purposefully and accidentally, and he always carries his old flute with him so he can play it when he's alone.

Lemme know if I need to change anything!

Name: Index Vasquez
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Species: Human
Homeworld: Earth
Role: Scout
Sexuality: Homosexual

Appearance: Index is the picture of 22nd century punk. Tall, pale, and gangly, with one side of her head shaved to make way for glimmering silver augments. Her wardrobe is almost entirely black leather, with the exceptions being her neon green fishnet stockings and gloves. Her standard outfit consists of aforementioned stockings and gloves, black leather shorts, a black tank top and leather jacket, and knee-high boots that are about two inches thicker than they really need to be. Her gray-blue eyes shimmer with cybernetics, and nano-lights in her blood make her veins pulse with every beat of her heart. A large circular uplink port sits at the nape of her neck, an intricate circuitry design tattooed around it.

Personality: Index is rebellious to a fault, in spite of four years of academy training. She hardly ever does what she's told, preferring to find her own way, and she has a strong disdain for rules, orders, and authority in general. She's confident to the point of arrogance, has a razor-edged tongue, and always seems to be in a good mood, it takes something really serious to get her down. Despite the rather unscrupulous nature of her former occupation, Index is one of the few people in her trade that still maintains a hint of morality. Most Data-jackers are only in it for the money, but Index truly believes that the Mega-corps are evil. Despite her mercenary facade, Index harbors a deep-seated sense of justice, and hates seeing the weak exploited by those stronger than them.

History: Index hails from Earth in the year 2180, a harsh, dystopian world where all aspects of life are controlled by domineering mega-corporations. She was born an orphan, Maria, raised in the St. Vasquez orphanage; though she spent more time on the streets of New Seattle than anywhere else. Even as a child, Index had a knack for getting into places she wasnt supposed to, and at the tender age of eight she was recruited by a data-jacker gang, who used her natural talent for burglary to perform various criminal acts. She was a prolific hacker, earning the moniker 'index' at age twelve, for the substantial library of incriminating documents, encryption keys and passcodes she'd acquired. She was apprehended for the first time when she was fourteen, and after a rather harsh interrogation, was given a choice. She could become a Guardian, or she could go to an Intellicom reeducation facility. As she was in possession of at least one functioning brain cell at the time, she chose the former option. At the Academy, she excelled in most parts of her training, though her anti-establishment attitude led to it's fair share of problems. In spite of the various personality conflicts she had with the instructors, she managed to become a full-fledged guardian, though she still maintains her rebel spirit.

Skills: Index was outfitted with a multitude of augments by Intellicom, and has a few tricks up her sleeve besides. She's an expert at getting into and out of fortified locations undetected, and a master of the anything-goes fighting style colloquially known as Street-Fu in the slums of New Seattle. Her augments optimize her bodily functions, meaning she has to eat, drink, sleep, and even breathe less than a normal human, and heighten her perception and reaction time, allowing her to process information at lightning speeds. Her ocular implants allow her to see in multiple spectra of light, and include a facial recognition system synced up with the massive Intellicom supercomputer. Her abnormally thick boots contain a pair of hover-skates, small anti-gravity projectors that allow her to hover above the ground and grant her greatly increased maneuverability. She carries an Intellicom multi-pistol on her hip, and an HF knife strapped to her thigh. In addition to English and Universal Common, Index speaks Jacker-cant, an amalgamation of English, Russian, Spanish, and Japanese spoken by the criminal elements of New Seattle, and Machine language, a combination of binary code and electronic bursts that allow her to interface with almost any computer system.

Triumvir Skaria Noctin

Postby Jeydon » Mon Aug 27, 2018 4:57 pm

Image

Image
Name: Skaria Noctin
Gender: Female
Age: 47
Species: Yltan
Homeworld: Neria
Role: Second in Command
Sexuality: Bisexual

Appearance: The Yltan are a reptilian-esque species, living predominantly in sprawling, complex underwater colonies on the ocean planet Neria. They are relatively humanoid, standing at an average of around six feet with long, gangly limbs and sharp, pronounced features. Their pale, blue-grey skin is relatively smooth and hairless, though scaled patches taking on a more green tone are scattered across their bodies. Their faces are typically sharp and angular, spiny protrusions, some acting as gills, splaying from their heads. Dark grey, quill-like spines form a crest atop their heads, Skaria's manifesting in a short, mohawk-style streak. Skaria's eyes are a classic Yltan's - a cloudy, but not sightless, dark blue-grey tone. Skaria is rather young for her species, who commonly live several centuries, with a look that would be considered quite youthful. The Yltan are highly aquatic - they breathe through gills, and require advanced technology to breathe regular air. Skaria is equipped with chrome gear around her neck and head that allows her to breathe air.

Personality: Skaria has a cool, brusque demeanour, all work and no play. A life of military service in the elite Yltan forces has instilled a certain harshness in Skaria - not coldblooded, exactly, but bordering on merciless; everything is a means to an end, in Skaria's mind and the Yltan philosophy alike. If Skaria can be recognized for one thing, it's her ability to follow orders - she is loyal and faithful to a fault, rarely questioning authority. However, she is not gullible - she simply trusts in her superiors enough to follow them without doubt. This faith of Skaria's doesn't apply just to her superior beings, but the systems that keep order in the world - she is a firm believer that rules exist for a reason, and follows them to the letter. Skaria has high expectations of all on her Guardian team - she will not tolerate foolishness or insubordination, and she does not make empty threats. Skaria holds a stubborn belief that experience is second to none when it comes to training and education.

History: Skaria was born and raised on the ocean planet Neria, amidst the highly advanced Yltan colonies. She grew up in relative hardship, living as an orphan in a sector of Neria crippled by poverty and disease - the same epidemic which had killed her parents. Hardened by her years on the streets and equipped with a sharp array of street smarts, Skaria faked her way into the elite Yltan military underage at 16, taking well to the harsh, high-expectations training style and ascending through their ranks quickly. She has fought many wars and won many more battles in her years. Skaria left the Yltan military at 33 to take part in an Yltan effort to supply new Guardians in dire times. At 37, she completed her academy training and, just as she had done in the Yltan military, worked her way up through the hierarchy quickly, proving her worth and skill. Skaria has worked with several Guardian teams throughout her decade of service to Neuvarik, assigned to a triumvirate for the first time after three years of service and filling positions as a warrior, diplomat, second in command, and leader over the years.

Skills: Skaria has years of military training and experience from her service in the Yltan military, skilled in an Yltan form of martial arts. She has a knack for weapons of any kind, from blades to blasters to metal pipes. Skaria is highly resourceful - in the absence of a weapon, she can always find something to use. Skaria fluently speaks several forms of Yltan regional dialect, several Yltan military code languages, and universal common. As a member of the aquatic Yltan species raised underwater, Skaria can breathe underwater, requiring cybernetics to breathe regular air. These cybernetics also make it possible for Skaria to breathe in almost any atmosphere, with built in filtration for purifying noxious gasses.

@LukeDeadwood - Looks like your history got cut off somehow, but other than that, it looks great! Just fix that and you're accepted!

@InfectedHau - Awesome, accepted!

By the way, the roleplay will be beginning as the team comes together for the first time and receives their first mission - some might know each other (if they've both been Guardians for a while, if they came from the same academy or realm, etc.), but it'll be the first meeting for many of them, and the first meeting as a full team.

Still waiting on more applications, but what would you two prefer - waiting until we have a few more people to start, or starting now and letting people join in as we go?

I'd be fine with either. I feel like the characters thus far have a decent enough dynamic, but I can understand wanting to wait for more people. I wouldn't wait much longer though.

Yeah, I feel the same - if LukeDeadwood's good with it, I think we can just go ahead and start now. We can work in an explanation for why none of the rest of the team is there easy enough.
