Life for Juliet is one of hardship and poverty. She is the only daughter of a shoe shiner and a house keeper, which she also
works with her mother as a house keeper herself. As one can expect, they live in the lowest of the low as she calls her ho
me a one room apartment a few miles from the luxurious castle where the royal family lives. Since she was young, she had
to work to support her family along with her parents but when she was given the chance to be selected, she turned it down
because she had to work at home to help. But little did she know that her parents thought about it and filled the paper out
for her because they wanted their daughter to have a chance for a better life that they always wanted to give to her. Juliet
was named after the main character of the play, Romeo and Juliet, to which it was her parents and her own favorite
book that they would read to her at night before she went to bed. Juliet adores to read and write and can often be found cu
rled up outside with an old, torn and dirty brown journal in her lap. One thing she also enjoys is making her own songs and si
nging as she finds it makes working not as difficult when she can hum a tune. Every since she was a young child, she loved ho
rses and always wished she could have one in real life, instead of just watching in wonder whenever she saw one being riden
in front of her home. Although she doesn't wish to go to the castle, she finds herself going because she doesn't want to disap
point her parents and wants to make them proud, although she doubts she'll ever fancy the prince nor will he fancy her.

Matthew has been the stable boy as long as he could remember, as he was working under his father before he got ill and
past away, leaving the job to his son. Matthew doesn't exactly hate his job, he enjoys the horses and he doesn't mind clea
ning up the stalls and stable, but he doesn't quite enjoy the people that own some of the horses as he finds them to be ru
de and mean to him mostly, although there are a few exceptions, but only a few. The teen is a bright boy despite what ot
hers would think of him, as he's been saving up to go to college, but even though he works for the royal family, he doesn't
get paid royally and has to save as much as he can with each check they give him. One perk of being their stable boy is th
at he gets to stay in the castle, of course not in a populated part, but he gets free boarding and food, as the only thing he
has to pay for is his clothes and any treats he wishes to give to the horses. Matthew is a very kind and adventurous boy as
he often takes the horses for a small run to stretch their legs and warm them up for their owners when they arrive. Matthew
often is seen with an apple in his hands, as they are his and the horses favorite snack and always cuts them up with his sm
all knife and shares it with them. When he heard of the Selection, the young boy couldn't help but feel a bit excited because
what if he ran into one of the ladies and what if they liked him?? But one problem is that he was ordered not to interact mu
ch with the Selected as he is a lower class than the others and he can only talk with them if they speak before him.

personality: lilia is obviously used to a luxurious life, but she is the biggest sweetheart ever and could pass for any normal person. she does like to dress up quite a bit, however. she's very outgoing but has trust issues and will not open up too deeply to anyone. she is extremely stubborn and can be a bit temperamental at times. she does have a dark side, and is skilled at the art of manipulation and sweet talk, props to her mother, but she almost never uses it.
