This is the discussion thread for Witches, Wands, and Wizards; a Harry Potter roleplay.

Appearance
Height: 173 cm or 5' 8"
Build: Tall and slim with a sharp, angular face. Her lips are thin and often pursed.
Skin Type: Pale with subtle freckles.
Hair Colour and Style: Shoulder-length and auburn, naturally a bit curly.
Eye Shape and Colour: Slanted and angular, steel-blue.
Scars, Tattoos, and/or Birthmarks: Faint freckles across most of her skin, especially on her face.
Clothing: Beatrice usually wears simplistic, modest blue robes beneath a black velvet cloak with an engraved silver double crescent moon clasp. As for shoes, she ports smaller black closed-toe heels that have an upward-curving tongue and topline.

Personality: Beatrice is humourless, strict, and extremely difficult to please. She tends to be very hard on her students. Little do the students know, this is only because she cares about them and wants to push them further; Beatrice believes that the best way for students to learn is by being challenged. Due to her outer personality, she's often the victim of many student pranks. She will typically punish pranksters with detentions - the length depends on the severity of the prank - most of which include writing lines. She tolerates no bullying in her classroom and has been known to send mean or taunting students to the Headmaster's office. Towards other professors, Beatrice can be amicable, but it depends on the person. She tends to look down on professors who have a difficult time maintaining control over their students. Beatrice has a very contained temper; it hardly ever shows itself. In her spare time, she can be found reading at her desk or in the school library. Her only huge pet peeves are messes and being interrupted while she's reading; she may be snippy if such a case as this arises.
Likes: Motivated students, philosophy, reading, learning, challenges, bitter foods, tea, and magical creatures.
Dislikes: Disorganisation, being interrupted when she's reading, class clowns, bullying, foods that are too sweet, and most bugs.
Fears: Beatrice doesn't often let fear - or many other emotions - show, but she is definitely scared of a few things. These include intimacy and failure. She is absolutely terrified of heights; hence why she was never on the Ravenclaw Quidditch team and avoids going up the moving staircases as much as possible, even now. Luckily, her classroom is on the ground floor; she doesn't have to worry about anyone finding out about this fear. The only thing she fears more than heights is admitting her own fears.
History: Beatrice has been through some hardships, though she's always overcome them quickly and efficiently. She was a student at Hogwarts; in Ravenclaw house. Rather than making friends, Beatrice preferred to study or read. She read everything she could get her hands on, from autobiographies to muggle science-fiction stories. She'd even sneak into the restricted section on occasion. As a child, she was painfully shy. The only person she regularly interacted with was Elisa, her younger sister by two years. Despite her shyness and the fact that most of her friends were books, Beatrice often helped others study, whether they asked for it or not. This was the only time she ever felt confident enough to interact with people who weren't her sister. It was while doing this that she discovered an intense desire to share her knowledge with others and influence future generations, hence why she applied for a teaching job at Hogwarts.

Parents: Chelsea and Harrison Byrne, both wizards.
Siblings: Elisa Byrne; a younger, much more amicable sibling who works at the Ministry in the Department of Magical Education. Despite their many differences, Beatrice is quite close with her younger sister and often lets her guard down around her. She's slightly annoyed at the fact that Elisa is her higher-up, but doesn't often let this show when in her presence.
Friends: Possibly other faculty members.

Boggart: It would most likely take the form of either a very high precipice, or some sort of failure in front of many people. Or maybe it would get confused between the two.
Other: Beatrice is a registered Animagus, as customary for the Transfiguration professor. She takes the form of a Badger; like her Patronus. Her key identifying factor is her coat - it appears erythristic; similar to her hair colour in human form, but her face is also spattered with faint freckles like in human form and her eyes retain their steely quality.

Appearance
Height: 157 cm or 5' 2"
Build: Petite and slim - actually quite a bit underweight - with a small bust. She has rather delicate features, and might even be considered pretty by societal standards.
Skin Type: Very pale.
Hair Colour and Style: A medium shade of brown, often pulled back in a ponytail to keep it out of the way. When not pulled up, it falls to mid-back in natural waves.
Eye Shape and Colour: Downturned and deep brown, framed by rectangular dark-rimmed glasses.
Scars, Tattoos, and/or Birthmarks: She has a small scar on the left side of her neck, just below her cheekbone. A couple of long gashes run down her back. She also has a few less noticeable scars scattered throughout her body.
Clothing: When not wearing Hogwarts robes, Sydney would typically be seen in collared shirts or sweaters, sometimes even a sweater over a collared shirt. The sweaters are normally just solid colours, though sometimes have owl designs printed or sewn onto them. As for bottoms, she usually ports jeans or leggings, complete with practical flats or ankle boots. Though she doesn't often wear skirts, if she was seen in one it would be most likely be plaid. As for jewelry, Sydney only has her ears pierced and usually wears some kind of studs.

Digging Deeper
Personality: At a glance, Sydney is a shy, antisocial girl who's always got her nose in a book. Despite being introverted, she is very in tune with the emotions of others and often picks up on their minute facial expressions that others might miss. She tends to be rather anxious and high-strung. She has low self-esteem and doesn't usually stick up for herself, but will be one of the first to defend a friend. Seeing as she recently transferred from Ilvermorny, Sydney sometimes finds herself using the American terminologies for things, and has a very slight American accent; almost undetectable.
Sydney often feels out-of-place in Gryffindor and wonders why the Sorting Hat put her there. Due to her studious nature, she honestly thought she would be put in Ravenclaw. But the Sorting Hat saw something that most others (including Sydney herself) didn't - a vast inner courage, rendering her a Gryffindor.
Sydney has a natural skill with potions and transfiguration, but any other kind of spell-casting typically ends in disaster. She's also quite good on a broomstick, despite a lack of experience, and plays violin in the Hogwarts orchestra. She loves to draw and started at a young age.
Likes: Getting good grades, snow, flying, owls, cats, chocolate, music, drawing, Muggle philosophy (Cicero in particular), and coffee.
Dislikes: Large groups of people, drawing attention to herself, using magic, being made fun of, doing something she believes to be wrong, boats, cars, trains, airplanes, and asking for or accepting any kind of help.
Fears: Loud noises, public speaking, hurting other people, her own magic, and trusting people. When frightened, Sydney tends to wedge herself into the smallest space possible.
History: Sydney was born in England; the only child of a wealthy muggle family. Her mother was a lawyer and her father was a business executive. She was left alone most of her life; her parents never had enough time for her due to their involved jobs. At the age of 7, Sydney's family moved to America for her dad's business. Her parents sent her off to boarding school almost immediately. When she turned 11, she received a letter from Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. At first, her parents thought it was a joke. That is; until a rather ungainly barred owl flew into one of their fireplaces (in in which there was luckily no fire at the time) with another letter clutched in its beak. Sydney attended Ilvermorny until recent times, in which her family moved back to England. As such, she transferred to Hogwarts. Before Ilvermorny, Sydney was bullied rather severely and still retains deep emotional (and some physical) scarring to this day.

Nicknames: Killi, though he absolutely hates this and will only put up with it if used by a family member. He enjoys being called 'Killer', though not many people seem to do that as it is frankly ridiculous.

Appearance
Height: 180 cm or 5' 11"
Build: Tall and lanky with slight musculature. He has a triangular jaw and medium-sized lips that seem to be permanently frozen in a mischievous smirk.
Skin Type: Naturally tan.
Hair Colour and Style: Very dark brown; almost black. It is considered slightly long and a bit fluffy, hovering above his shoulders. He has bangs with a natural curve to the right.
Eye Shape and Colour: Upturned and more rectangular in shape, bright forest green.
Scars, Tattoos, and/or Birthmarks: None, though he wouldn't mind a few tattoos.
Clothing: When not in Hogwarts robes, Killian can be seen wearing a variety of patched-up hand-me-down clothes, typically in the form of jeans and Weird Sisters band t-shirts, complete with an optional flannel and a pair of falling apart sneakers.

Digging Deeper
Personality: Killian tends to be flirtatious, teasing, and arrogant. He could charm the skin off a snake - or so he thinks. He has a rather short attention span and often finds himself spacing out in the classes he doesn't like. He enjoys annoying others and tends to think of himself as "endearingly obnoxious". Killian doesn't like to get serious and often has a hard time knowing when to do so. He has a deep-rooted ambition and a secret yearning to be liked and appreciated by others.
Likes: Quidditch, charms, pranks, bad puns, practical jokes, annoying others on purpose, and flirting.
Dislikes: Being ignored, commitment, authority figures, being bored, and getting detention.
Fears: Spiders and others finding out what his middle name is. When he's frightened, Killian will freeze in place; becoming nearly unmovable.
History: Killian was born and raised in England; the middle child of 5. He was overjoyed to get a letter from Hogwarts when he turned 11; his older sister and brother having already received theirs.

Parents: Esmeralda Errested; a latino witch who rehabilitates injured magical creatures, and Henry Errested, a Muggle of wizard lineage.
Siblings: Killian has four siblings; being the middle child of five. His older brother Torvald works as an Auror for the Ministry, and his older sister Megaera has just graduated and is working in the Department of Magical Transportation. Killian's younger siblings, Maria and Antonio, are going to be first years at Hogwarts next year.
Friends: Most of Slytherin House, though he has a few in Hufflepuff and even Gryffindor.
Enemies: None really, though he has a particular distaste for Ravenclaws as he thinks they're all stuck-up know-it-alls.

Digging Deeper
Personality: Carson is very level-headed, especially in stressful situations. That said, he is in no way a very serious person. He loves to make fun of people, but never in a crude way; he's a people person and would hate to anger anybody. He's very loyal and dependable. He does what he says he will, no matter what it costs him. He always puts others first, especially those he's close to. He always has an open mind when it comes to planning and is very much an 'out of the box' thinker. He's not a big fan of the conventional means which has led to quite a few minor explosions in Potions.

History: Born in America, Carson and his father moved to Japan when Carson was just 7 because of his father's work. When he was 10, his father met Maiko Jin and the two were married before Carson turned 11. Carson now found himself with a new mother and sister, AJ. At first, he found it difficult to get close to AJ because she was such a closed-off person, but he eventually got past her walls and now they're inseparable. They moved to London when Carson got his letter from Hogwarts, probably because his father, Jason, had gotten a really good job offer there and they were discussing moving there anyway. They made the move a few months before term started and have lived in the UK since, though there is talk of returning to Japan when he and AJ graduate.
His mother abandoned him and his father when he was just a baby; he doesn't like to talk about her.

Digging Deeper
Personality: AJ is not a people person; she's never entirely sure how to act around people. Despite all this, AJ is a very touch-oriented person, whether it be hugs, cuddles, hand holding or shoulder touches; she craves it all. So, when she feels close to someone, she does her best to show it through these kinds of touches. AJ is also a very bold person, never really taking no for an answer. To her, the answer is always yes; it's just a matter of figuring out how to do it. She also doesn't take too kindly to being ordered around but is smart enough to realize when she should keep her mouth shut and just do as told.
Likes: Alone time, reading, learning, music, playing the piano, cuddling

History: Born Aiko Jin to Maiko and Akio Jin, AJ had a pretty normal life until she was 7. Her father was a lawyer and her mother worked as a communications liaison for a multinational technology company. At the age of 7, AJ lost her father to a slow battle with a brain tumor. She and her mother were understandably heartbroken, but they soldiered on. 2 years later, Maiko met Jason Queen during a board meeting. Actually, Jason had been working there for the last 3 years as an Investment Manager and the two had seen each other occasionally over that time. The two hit it off rather well and were married just a year later. It took a while for AJ and Carson to come together, mostly because AJ is such a closed off person. Carson was persistent, however, and they started bonding over video games. It was around this time that Carson started calling her AJ and she found she actually liked the nickname. The two have been close ever since. They moved to the UK when Carson received his Hogwarts letter and AJ got hers the next year.
