maybe they can claim anything but there are a few roles that most people would go for, like guards, healers, people who look after the animals, etc

phys. description: he has a pretty normal build and is a bit stronger than the average guy. He has blonde hair and curious brown eyes as well as a small scar on his cheek from a fishing accident. His clothing is normally sportswear with a bomber jacket that was given to him by the grandfather, though he barely wears it on the island due to the climate.

(if human) for research or wealth?; little bit of both; He isn’t that fond of fishing but was forced to participate with his dad, which made him a good fisher weather he wanted to become one or not. His main focus on the island is wealth, yes, but not in the form of trophies or actual hunting. He’s more looking for stray scales and tools that have been left behind for a museum, so there’s a tad bit of reasearch there too. James will also be willing to fight in his own self defence, though might also end up taking one of the aquatic creatures to live in the city or in an aquarium if they would agree to it.

personality; carefree, good at talking, can be a little oblivious at times, generally reasonable, tries to respect boundaries and rules. He will try to get along with everyone and possibly try to persuade some of the mythological sea creatures to visit the city life, even if for a short amount of time. Experiences are the most important thing to him and quite frankly that’s the main reason that he’s here, but he also wants to help other people have unique learning experiences as well.

weaponry/items; he has an assortment of hooks, fishing gear, and pocket knives, not to mention a small speedboat and a waterproof camera. He also has a backpack with multiple survival-required items in it because of his thrill for adventure, and has even included some snorkelling gear to use on occasion. He doesn’t really have many “weapons” per say, though he does have a metal walking stick

Meant to post this forum too, but then the wifi went down randomly. So here is is now.
I do have one question; are the hippocampuses gonna be intelligent? Or like normal horses, just underwater? Because I might make one, I'm just not sure what to do with him if I do

its quite clear its like a community, with guards, healers, people who search through shipwrecks, etc.
should there be some kind of leader/someone being protected on the island or should it all just be somebody having a certain role they choose?
are there certain groups/species that don't like the others? eg, merfolk and sirens, or sirens and nereids? are there ones that do get along? like hippocampus and kelpies etc?
there are many things we can discuss and i can perhaps have a post where it explains the relations

On a side note, I feel the Sirens and the Nereid should be enemies. After all, the entirety of what they do are the complete opposite from each other. It makes sense for them to be upset about that. Their whole moral codes are so different. People like that usually don't get along very well
