Your horse will age as time goes but time passes differently in this RPG.
▶ 0-2 Years Old
Still a foal. It won't train, and it stays with its dam. Its dam can still train though.
▶ 2-3 Years Old
Just entering the racing world, still a little amateur. You won't be able to geld stallions at this time.
▶ 3-7 Years Old
Now getting more familiar and experienced around racing. Stallions can be gelded after three years old. Geldings are calmer and get a two extra stats boost after being gelded. Geldings also perform better in training.
▶ 7-10 Years Old
Your horse should retire at this time. The max age before compulsory retirement is 9. If you don't retire your horse at 7 and continue training, it may get hurt or even die during training and races. At 8, mares will not be able to foal but stallions can still breed. All horses pass away at 10, but will still be recorded in the register.
For this RPG, there are four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Each real life week is a in-game season. Thus, all horses age up by one after around a month.
▶ Spring
Mares come into heat in this season and can be bred in this season. Foals from the previous breeding season are being born. There will be a few races in Spring.
▶ Summer
The racing season! Lots o' hustle bustle. Mares are no longer in heat and won't be able to breed in this season.
▶ Autumn
The mares are coming into heat again, and all last year Autumn foals are being born. There are a few more races as the racing season dies down.
▶ Winter
Cold. Cold. Mares aren't in heat at this time and there won't be any races. This is when life slows down and rests after a long year.
