Her mother, Whisperstreak, became distant after that, and barely even noticed she had a kit. Whisperstreak went out hunting one day when Spiderleg was an apprentice, and never returned. Spiderleg never gained any friends as an apprentice, and now finds it difficult to connect with other warriors.

When Budfoot was four moons old, his mother, Leafclaw, was found being disloyal, and was exiled. Budfoot's father, Treefur, was devastated, but cared for his kits anyways. Budfoot made a promise to himself to never be like his mother, and be loyal to his mate, no matter who it was. He didn't want to hurt his kits like his mother hurt him and his littermates.
