I’m at the part in POA where they’re telling the story of “what happened” the night James and Lily died, and it will never ever cease to absolutely infuriate me how they all believed it was Sirius. I just don’t get HOW they could think that, having known him. Seeing the way he was with his friends. Knowing how loudly he was against his family and their beliefs. It’s stated that Peter was the clear tag along, not even in their league, and yet..... nobody suspected him. I suppose it was because they thought he wasn’t talented enough to get away with it, but still. They thought Sirius was secretly cruel enough? Absolute garbage.
