I know right?! What I love and missed about OC rps are all the different types of characters you can find! They’re all made differently, written differently, it’s amazing!

    *Name: Mathias Iversen
    *Gender: Male
    *Age: 23 years
*Powers(if any): illusion-maker; is able to create realistic illusions and bend people's senses to think that something is there, while in reality it is not.// is able to pull things towards him like semi-telekinesis, though he has to be able to physically lift it. Kinda like jedis when their lightsaber is out of reach and they use the force.// can create rune wings on his shoulders if he needs a small boost in any direction and it can provide a safe glide down if he falls.

    *Species: human
    *Rank: Soldier

    Sexuality: Bisexual
    Crush: N/A
    Mate/Spouse: N/A
    Children: N/A

*Personality; Mathias is quite frankly a bit of a cocky, overconfident, trickster of a soldier, though he really does have the best interests at heart. He doesn't often prefer to talk about himself, especially his personal life, but anything else is fair game. Mathias is good with people, crafty, and very charismatic when he needs to be, and despite his former rank as a trader, he was taught with nobles (without them knowing, of course). He may seem charming at times, but his person changes depending on the situation to get him the most favourable outcome. Because of this he has been trying to stay a bit low in the ranks and on the radar, as he might be recognised by the public from his self-serving street needs only a few years before. Once you take away his adaptability, Mathias is a very honourable man who likes wholesome interactions and jokes. He can also be surprisingly selfless and knowledgeable in random subjects, and will do his best to help if a situation is dire.

*History; Originally arriving here on a traders ship from the north, Mathias has lived here since he was a teenager (14 years specifically). Thus, he still remembers living in the north and semi-keeps the lifestyle from there. He and his mother arrived and stayed to trade, though they quickly became civilians and left the trading group. The two, while having a bit of money, were still unable to have much of a break. His mom owned and worked at a small inn while Mathias practiced his magic on unsuspecting victims on the street while he stole bits of riches from their pockets. He turned to doing this even more, and even carrying out dangerous tasks in exchange for food or money when the inn got robbed and his mother killed. Now an orphan and too poor to not live in the streets, the 17 year old lived carelessly as a thief and a bounty hunter. One day he was caught having stolen an entire food cart after scaring off its previous owner with an illusion by a soldier- and after seeing promise in the young criminal, suggested becoming a guard. Mathias at first strongly refused, but returned around a year later when he was almost caught again. Since then, he has been training to become/serving as a soldier.

    *Name: Kokyu
    *Gender: Male
    *Age: 16,748 years
*Powers(if any): strong Ice and air manipulation, telepathy

    *Species: dragon
    *Rank: Scout

    Sexuality: bisexual
    Crush: N/A
    Mate/Spouse: N/A
    Children: N/A

*Personality; His two main traits are him being calm, quiet, and collected. Kokyu overall thinks very highly of himself and dragon-kind, and is extremely stubborn and intelligent. He tends to like attention and companionship but usually not actual interaction, and hates his human-like voice (which is why he uses telepathy). Despite his age he can act like a very mature but still problematic teenager (TM) and gets annoyed fairly easily. He always looks like he's glaring and is perfectly fine with that, sometimes even adding an unnecessary snarl for drama's sake. Speaking of drama, while he is never one to start a fight or one to depend on his strength (cause he's fast and precise but still just a noodle), he will still "playfully" egg them on. When it comes down to it Kokyu is actually a very mature and intelligent dragon who will still look out for everyone's backs regardless of how much he likes them or not. He stresses loyalty very strongly.
*History; Lived in solitary in the highest mountains he could find, where it was far too cold and high for humans to reach him and bother him. Eventually he got bored of it and flew down to travel the lands for some sort of adventure and eventually got stuck living here and deciding to join the war. Being bored wasn't the only reason he joined the war though- he also wanted to get revenge on those pesky humans for repeatedlynot letting him sleep in barns and eat farmers' cattle.

    Username: cocogerber13
    *Name: Laura "The Enchantress"
    *Gender: female
    *Age: 27,504
*Powers(if any): She is able to enchant items with a variety of world and element-related magic, even though she herself is unable to master them. She, as well as anyone who has one of her enchanted objects, can use the magic while wielding or wearing the object, though it will never hold the strength of one born with the same exact magic. The items she enchants also needs to be extremely important to the one she is enchanting it for. She also has violet dragon fire, which she mostly only uses to burn down buildings

*Species: Dragon, though she tries to spend most of her time in human form
*Rank: "The Enchantress" aka a traveling merchant that finds amusement in such a hopeless war

    Sexuality: panromantic ace
    Crush: none
    Mate/Spouse: none
    Children: none

*Personality; Laura is a dragon that tends to spend most of her time as a traveling merchant-type service human. She is the classic hoarder, though is extremely picky with her riches and requires only the finest ones. She finds the war between humans and dragons pointless and amusing, and though she will act like someone who cares a lot for the side of her current customer, part of the reason why she enchants things with people is to keep the war a bit more interesting and evenly-matched. Despite this and her extremely deceptive nature, Laura will refuse any enchantments she feels are too strong or if the person thinks about using it against her (often brushing it off as the spell 'not being included in her abilities'). Aside from that, she will enchant anything in her power for the right price, and is patient and mysterious in her goals. Overall Laurs seems very welcoming and kind, and will even do a favour or two sometimes with a purchase.

*History; Laura's history is rather mysterious, though it has been said that her power allowed her to rise in ranks in a far-off human Kingdom until she turned into a dragon and destroyed that said settlement. She is also very skilled in healing for whatever reason, and she has been in legends for thousands of years for being a travelling enchantress (a title she proudly upholds).

Other: scales; she has three enchanted things for herself: a cloak that makes her seem that she is somewhere else if she wishes and a circlet that allows her to read the minds of her customers (she she knows what enchantment they have in mind), and a protected vardo (Romanian wagon) where she lives and keeps her things.

so, I've been thinking a lot about how exactly these humans would be bringing down massive dragons, so I figured I'd run this by to get approval-
My idea was for something that's somewhere between a harpoon and a ballista, specifically for pulling dragons out of the air. They might have ordinary ballista to just shoot at them, but a dragon's going to be a lot easier to hit & kill if they could ground it somehow. The ballista would be mounted on wheels so horses could pull them onto the battlefield, and once there they'd use stakes or something to temporarily anchor them to the ground. Each bolt/harpoon would have a heavy chain attached to it, with a winch on the end so the speared dragon could be dragged down. For larger dragons it would take teams of these weapons working in coordination, but once the dragon is down it'll be a lot easier to hit with ranged weapons, and foot soldiers can actually get at it with swords and other melee weapons.
Also had an idea for some sort of spikes meant to shred a dragon's wings, but I haven't thought on that in depth yet.
Sorry for going on about this stuff but I love worldbuilding for universes like this!

@ellis

That sounds amazing! And maybe the spikes could be special arrows. Bowmen could be the ones who shoot them into the sky, multiple people at a time. From what I’ve learned from multiple drawings and stories, our western dragons don't have actual scales on their wings except where the actual bones are that make up the wing’s shape. It’s more like a membrane like our skin though still slightly stronger, so very sharp and strong arrows could rip the holes in the wings. Also I gotta agree, worldbuilding is so much fun, especially with a team of people doing it!

Edit: what happened to my spelling in this

Yeah, I think the general consensus is that most dragon wings would be a bit like bat wings, just leathery skin between the 'fingers' of the wing.
And I was going back and forth on whether I should make it something archers could handle, or scale it up a bit to another war machine. Given the size of some of these dragons, arrows alone won't do much to them. But I had been tossing around the idea of incorporating nets or wire somehow, that could be attached to arrows and entangle the wings. Bonus points if it's something like barbed wire.

hi totally wasn't extra and photoshopped Xiao's tattoo on no way

Also I love the idea of some sort of harpoon-type device to take down dragons. Maybe more pinpoint type weapons that could be fired into soft spots where there is a chink in the scales. I think any sort of long-range weapon would be great for fighting dragons, and perhaps some sort of semi-fireproofing formula that can hold off a little fire (obvs not completely fire proof so the dragons still get some heavy attacks) but like, if you get a light touch of fire it'll burn the coating chemical before it burns your weapon/clothing. However, once its burned once it won't hold up as well, and if the fire stays on it a long time obviously everything will just go up in flames.
