i am very happy to say that my post is almost ready! i only have a little more to write before i begin the tedious process of editing. chasing stars, i hope that what i put up will be enough for riko gal to respond to.
i've actually been doing some research to ensure that i play atlas' character correctly, and considering that he is a mute character i have come to conclude that he is definitely physiologically mute rather than physically. a physchological mute does not talk because of traumatic experiences, fear, or for a number of other reasons. for atlas, it is due to the immense amount of pressure he had been put beneath, fear of messing up due to distraction, and various other factors that had all stemmed from the rigorous training he encountered during his watch doggy business.
the key thing about this is to remember that he is still very capable of speech . . . and if he is pressed to talk, he can and will. he doesn'tlike to speak, for one reason or another, but he is still very capable of using his voice. when he does finally speak, it will be quiet and raspy, likely similiar to the way one sounds when they have laryngitis, or the way you sound when you first wake up in the morning. it's been months since the last time he has spoke, so of course his vocal chords are a little rusty. in addition, this also means that he can laugh, sob, yelp, etc. the same as everyone else.
given this, i may or may not have him speak a word here and there every so often -- probably much sooner than i originally anticipated.
sorry for the block of text. lol
