Appearance
The Judge is ridiculously tall, with broad sholders and a very muscular frame. People often look up and address her as 'Sir'. Solara has a stern face with a strong jawline. She normally has no expression, although occasionally she will smile. That smile never reaches her eyes. Solara has straight black hair, which is very short. It sticks up slightly in the back. Her deep russet eyes are always calm, but somehow, it's difficult to make eye contact. She is also noticeably warmer than others, as if she constantly has a fever.
Solara speaks in a very slow, calm manner. Her pitch is lower than many male voices. The warm, rich tone of her deep voice resonates thoroughly in the courtroom. It often sounds solemn and heavy when she speaks.
Personality
Solara was brought up to be extremely calm. She almost seems emotionless with her solemn, unflinching stare. She does have feelings deep down, but they are suppressed to protect others. Solara feels that her sole purpose in life is to protect the innocent. She works hard at her career, but after so many years, she still believes she has not finished her duty. She refuses to ever retire, not wanting to 'outlive her usefulness' to civilization.
She is overly dedicated to the pursuit of truth, and she has issues realizing when she should relax. Her husband is always begging her to rest. Deep down she wants to sleep well, too, but not until she finally fulfills her purpose. Solara isn't sure when that will happen. She has waited half a century to have peace, and she is still waiting.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Physical strength has been Solara's greatest talent since she became an adult. Her strength is certainly impressive, but it's her stamina that allows her to continue on. She has long since lost her youthful fire. She is still working hard at her job, although her endurance is reaching its breaking point. She is growing older every day. Solara has always had poor eyesight, but it is continuing to decline due to age. Even as a child, she had to work harder than her peers just to keep up. Now she is much older and much more tired.
But she still refuses to retire. She only wants to live to serve humanity. She still thinks her job is incomplete, and she's still waiting until the day it is truly 'finished'. Until then, she will continue on, as surely as the sun rises and sets.
Family History
Solara grew up with a loving father. Juniper was always by her side, teaching her and comforting her. She had always been feverish, which was a health concern from a young age. It was the result of a problem with her hypothalamus, which was supposed to regulate body temperature. Like anyone running a high fever, she felt cold no matter how warm her surroundings were. She was so sensitive to cold and constantly uncomfortable because she couldn't feel warm.
Solara's mother was rarely home, but terrorized the family on her return. She would make Solara take cold showers whenever she was 'bad'. It was an excessively cruel punishment due to the feverish little girl's condition. Agatha would also treat Juniper horribly when he attempted to defend their daughter. Eventually Juniper fled the home with Solara, and sought refuge with his childhood friend who lived alone. Together they compiled evidence and took the case to court. Agatha was convicted and punished; she never went near the family again.
Upon seeing justice served in court, young Solara told her father she wanted to become a judge. She wanted to protect people with the law. Juniper told her he would support her dreams, no matter what. Both of them kept true to their word.
Juniper remarried, this time entering a happy marriage with his long-ago best friend. They were already living together. Solara was happy to have a family at last.
She met Ludwig when they were in elementary school. They grew up, always being very close with each other. Ludwig even nicknamed himself 'Luno'- the moon to her sun. Their friends wondered when they would date. It took a while, but they became a couple when they were both in college. They were married after Ludwig's graduation, although they lived together before then. Luno took Solara's last name upon their marriage. Their relationship was physically more distant than others, but very supportive. They loved hugs and the occasional kiss on the cheek, but even kissing on the lips was normally too much for them. They cared deeply for each other though.
Solara had both children in her forties. Luno was originally a secretary, but he resigned and became a stay-at-home father after Acacia's birth. Solara took no maternity leave; she was a clueless mother anyway. She worked to support her family, and to protect them with the justice system. She became significantly more tired after Acacia's disappearance, but she refuses to even take a vacation. Solara guiltily believes she has failed to protect her own child. As a result, she works even harder at her job. Somewhere under the fatigue is the faintly lingering belief that justice will be victorious, and she can fulfill her purpose. One day.
