On the Inside...
Personality:
Soft-spoken and generally a bit on edge in larger groups, Alpha isn't easy to engage in long conversations. At least, not with a whole lot of input from him anyway. He's a good listener though, and can give good advice on occasions when actually asked. Given once of his domains is 'balance', he's good at seeing both sides of a problem. Kindhearted and intelligent despite his problems with socializing, he has a heart of gold and a slight hero complex, always jumping in to help people he doesn't know. His memory tends to ebb and flow, and he can't always remember names or places, something that should probably bother him more than it really does. A bit emotionally stunted, but regardless on good days he does have a rather commanding presence. He can seem almost like a ghost on his bad.
Likes:
Books, storms/rain in general as he finds them calming, sweet things.
Dislikes:
Large crowds, needless cruelty, excessively sour foods, those that put themselves above the needs of others.
Fears:
Sudden loud noises, he has an aversion to fire, though he couldn't say why.
The Past
History:
Forming, like others of his kin, in an alternate plane of existence consisting only of magic and silence, much of what would be Alpha's 'early' life is simply just dreams of the experiences his kind have had when summoned to the mortal plane. That all changed when he himself was summoned, specifically by a man by the name of Omea Rahal, often affectionately called 'Omega' by friends. The spirit formed within the circle with expectations of chains and pain, and got neither. In fact, Omega would even protest often at the use of the term 'master', insisting that he wasn't above the spirit. He'd called him there to be a partner and friend, not a servant.
Omega, rather amused at his own joke, gifted the spirit with the name 'Alpha', and taught him about the world he'd been pulled into. After having been taught to read, Alpha would often leaf through the many, many books within Omega's home and he followed him around through his daily schedule. This, of course, led to his understanding of the words whispered behind their backs when Omega started taking Alpha out on business with him. 'Devil', 'warlock', 'evil'.
He didn't know if any of these things applied to him, but he'd been there long enough, and had enough memory-imprints from his kin that had found themselves in this world before him to know that they did not apply to his master. 'Evil' was the chains and bonds so many of his kind found upon them, harsh words and punishments for things that were not theirs to be punished for. It was not the word for the cheerful voice and playful eyes he'd come to... love? Alpha wasn't certain if the word was the right one, so he kept it to himself and instead asked after his own nature. Omega had laughed softly and told him no, he was not a devil, but a creature of protection and guidance. His constant roaming of their home, his instinctual cataloging of every change he unconsciously noted, they were proof enough of this fact. It was then that Alpha silently swore to protect him even if it cost him the life he had been given.
A promise he failed to fulfill, as one night a group attacked the home. They overwhelmed Alpha with sheer numbers and set fire to the walls and the books within them. Omega's dying breath was used to tell Alpha to run and save himself, and in a panic- and unwilling to ignore his master's words- he complied. He escaped with his life, heartbroken and with his entire world-view shattered. He awoke the next morning with no memory of the life he had lived beyond brief images that escaped from him when he tried to focus on them as if he were trying to carry water in his hands.
Fairly certain that his name was 'Alpha Rahal', and with an interest in books, he soon started wandering the world curious about the place he had found himself in. It's hard to say exactly how long he had been in the world before his memory loss, and he never cared to count the years after awakening either.
