@redbonnet - I'm not quite sure what you mean? Horses can be plain gray and dapple gray, but most adult gray horses were born black, if that's what you mean? Princess seems to be a dapple gray, but when she was born she might have been very dark gray or black?

You see thats what I was thinking but this we sit seems to think a horse cant be grey originally.

Yes, gray is not a coat color base, it is a modifier. All gray horses are born with a base color and as they grow up they will turn grey/get lighter

Example: My girl Pepper is gray, but she was born bay. Her base coat color is bay. As she gets older she gets lighter in color. Right now she is a rose gray, but each year she gets lighter ans lighter as her hair loses pigmentation and eventually all of her hairs will be white. So even though she is gray, and eventually looks white, she does not have a base coat color of gray, she's a bay with a color modifier of gray.

Silver dapple is not allowed in Hanoverians. The three base colors are black, bay and chestnut for Hanoverians. Princess was born either black, bay, or chestnut with the graying gene.

What option should I pick for
The second part for princess. She has the dappled look so I was think she was a sabino which would make sense if she was then faded to the dappled grey look.

@redbonnet You could make her a sabino, although that might be tricky to calculate with Sunny's tobiano
