Prey Hunter To-Be

In a word, Dark is undaunted. Few things bother her, and those that do are quickly bounced back from. She is a cheerful young To-Be and does not let anyone's judgement get in the way of doing things she wants to do. Occasionally, she can come off as stubborn because of this, and perhaps she is. For Dark to be persuaded to do things a certain way, she needs a logical reason why. "Just because", or "it's tradition" are not good enough answers as far as Dark is concerned. She has a great respect for information in this regard, and is far more likely to trust older, wiser cats who clearly explain reasons as opposed to the more authoritative cats who expect obedience from To-Bes at all times simply because of the difference in experience.
Dark is also an empathetic cat who finds it easy to put herself in the shoes of others, and she feels a sense of duty to help her tribemates with their problems, even if the only thing she can do is listen. Her caring nature, intuition, and willful ignorance of judgmental opinions all play on each other to create an excellent friend in Dark. She will do whatever she can to support those she cares about, and is not afraid of what others will think of her doing so.
When she is not questioning rules or hanging out with her favorite cats, Dark loves to spend time pulling the strangest stunts. It is hard for her to sit still, and Dark makes her life more interesting by thinking of the oddest and most interesting things to do. After climbing every tree, hunting every prey, and exploring every cave, Dark will go on to see if she can hang by her tail or go an entire day without talking. It is a good thing that Dark does not let criticism bother her, because her antics have led some to believe she is crazy, or perhaps just stubbornly childish. However, Dark has fun doing strange things and she sees value in trying new things since she occasionally makes cool discoveries while doing so. That is reason enough for her to keep on as she has been.

Dark is younger than her brother, Shell, but only by a few minutes. The pair were born into the Tribe of Rushing Waters to a proud first-time mother who chose to keep the father's identity a secret. Dark was the runt of her litter, and she is still a little small for her age. Considering her size, it was obvious she would grow up to be a Prey Hunter, and she proudly accepted her fate on the day she became a To-Be. Now, Dark eagerly looks forward to adulthood, when she can be named as a full-fledged Prey Hunter. Not everyone is as enthusiastic as she is, though. Some in the tribe consider Dark to be eccentric and childish with her antics, while others are irritated by her need for a reason in order to take any order or request seriously. A cat like that, they argue, might be more trouble than they are worth.
Dark has been close to her brother for as long as she can remember and he is the only cat she would truly consider a friend. Shell does not reciprocate her affections quite to the same extent, but she is his sister and he cares about her all the same. Dark is open to making new friends, of course, but she has a hard time getting past her reputation and connecting with others. This might be even more difficult if they were aware that she is a lesbian. Dark hasn't told anyone simply because she never felt the need to, though she is aware that she finds she-cats much more appealing than toms as potential mates. When she does find someone she really likes, it might come as a surprise to those around her.
What is not surprising is Dark's feelings of animosity towards Scourge. She does not know much about the tortoiseshell Loner, but Dark does know that any Loner is a potential threat to her tribe. She saw Scourge once while out training with Night, and Dark has remembered what Scourge looks like so that she can defend her tribe against her if she needs to.

Cave Guard To-Be

His greatest strength and biggest weakness are one and the same. Shell is impulsive. He tends to leap into action without thinking the situation through first. This refusal to hesitate is seen by some as bravery, and indeed it may be. Shell has pulled off some surprising feats simply by leaping in headfirst and giving it his all. Doubt and hesitation might have held other To-Bes back, but Shell tackles every situation as if he is certain he will come out on top.
Unfortunately, this also means that Shell can sometimes make things worse in his eagerness to act. He is prone to rushing off to take care of problems before he has the whole story, and since he never factors in risks, Shell is likely to find himself in a situation he was not really prepared for. He could benefit from learning patience so that he can think his actions through. Even teamwork would be a beneficial skill for Shell to develop, since his friends would be able to back him up when he needs help or guidance.
Making friends, however, is not Shell's top priority. Far from it, he prefers to stay single-mindedly focused on the task at hand and sees little point in getting distracted. As a To-Be, Shell is usually busy with chores or training, and since he focuses only on chores and training when completing these tasks, he has comparatively less time to bond with other To-Bes, since most are willing to multitask with a friendly chat or shouts of encouragement during these activities. Perhaps as he grows older and more mature, Shell will slow down and learn to consider the consequences of his actions before he gets himself into trouble.

Shell was born before his sister, Dark, and was clearly the larger kit from the beginning. Even now, he is quite large for his age, making him a clear choice as a Cave Guard To-Be. His mother never revealed who their father was, but that never seemed to bother him at all. Shell is one to focus on the present, and his is a promising one. He shows a lot of potential as a Cave Guard and his tribe expects him to have a bright future, as long as he can get his impulsiveness under control.
Since Shell is quite aware of Dark's poor reputation, he tries to distance himself from her when possible. He loves her of course, but he does not want everyone thinking he is as crazy as she is. Dark never seems to mind, and Shell appreciates that she is content with a more casual relationship with him. He would certainly never turn his back on her, but he would rather stay out of her strangeness too.
In general, Shell prefers to focus on his training rather than socializing, but he does have a fairly close friend in Wolf. The pair have fun chatting about their day's activities, and Wolf loves to help Shell practice his Cave-Guard skills. She would have become one herself, if she had a choice in the matter, but learning with Shell has been some level of consolation, and Shell appreciates the opportunity to hone his skills even when he is off the clock.
