Name: Maali Venero

Powers: Shadow manipulation and "shadow stepping" the ability to move short distances through shadows, almost like a limited teleportation. Her range is very limited, but with training she hopes to expand it.
Personality: Maali is highly perceptive and strives to always be independent. She makes constant attempts to circumvent all manners of authority, particularly through her ability to step through shadows to evade punishment or scolding. She is fairly personable and rarely has trouble making friends, though she rarely keeps these relationships close, preferring to keep emotional distance between herself and others. Very good at reading others, and not above using this to get what she wants when it suits her. Vaguely narcissistic.
History: Maali's birth family was incredibly restrictive, and the discovery of her powers only made them more so. She was stifled as a child and often ran away, and on one such an occasion came across a man named Kodii Venero who eventually adopted her not long before her parents met a violent end. Her new father, while a vast improvement over her old parents, was still somewhat exasperated by her and decided to send her to the island in hopes that the time away would allow her to decompress and resolve her issues with authority. She herself thought it was a great idea until she discovered Chrono, her older sibling, would also be attending to keep watch on her.
Other: One of my friends will be posting a form for Chrono later. Also, the fang necklace she is wearing is a sort of family heirloom and tradition so she is somewhat protective of it.

Age: 24
Gender: Female
Orientation: Homoromantic Asexual
Position: Swimming teacher
Species: Undine
Abilities: Syrena is amphibious and an excellent swimmer given her webbed feet and hands. She has some limited control over water, though given how strong the ocean waves and currents can be she rarely tries to strain and test her powers much.
Personality: Syrena is a very relaxed and fun loving person, and her time on the island has made her very comfortable in her skin. She tends to grin widely (with shark like teeth) at new students who marvel at her blue skin and webbed hands and feet and gills. She is very patient with her students, particularly those with powers that tend to make the water seem more fearsome. Can be very impulsive and tends to prioritize others, students especially, well above her own safety. During bad storms she tends to stay in the waves near the coast in case anyone wanders out and gets pulled into the water.
History: Life as an undine before coming to live on the island had initially made her rather withdrawn. Being a fish among mostly humans made her resent her appearance and the stares. She was sent to the island as a teenager and has no real desire to leave, as while she is still unique the stares feel less accusatory and more filled with wonder and amazement. She was glad to take up the position of swimming teacher as soon as she was old enough, being quite naturally suited to it due to her nature.
Other: The scarf in her picture is what she wear to keep her gills covered on land, as she doesn't like the feel of them being exposed.

Orientation; Demiromantic asexual
Powers; Time manipulation, mostly limited to stopping time for a short time in a radius around them due to age and inexperience. In times of great stress they are capable of going back in time ranging from a few seconds to a minute or two, though it is never on purpose.
Personality; Tends to be quite soft-spoken. Chrono isn't confrontational, and prefers to avoid violence whenever possible. They are fairly intelligent, and very much prefer to talk through problems rather than letting them fester. And yet they still prefer to bottle their emotions, mostly the more negative ones, up the majority of the time rather than let them cause problems with those around them.
History; Neither of the parents Chrono grew up with were very good ones. Their father died before they were born, and by the time they were, their mother was already remarried. Their mother really only cared about herself, and their stepfather, while fairly neutral to Chrono in general, at least he would make sure they were taken care of, more or less. As time went on, their mother became worse and worse, and so too did their step-father, as the stress from dealing with her began to be taken out on them. This went on for years.
When they were somewhere around the age of ten/eleven, things escalated with their stepfather while they were walking home from different errands, but before anything awful could happen, a man stepped between them and their father. Seemingly knowing exactly what he needed to say, both to their stepfather and to them, to stop things from getting worse, the man calmed the entire situation down perfectly. He offered to watch them for a bit, and their stepfather agreed without hesitation, saying he needed a break that that the man could keep them if they wanted.
As it turns out, the man did end up keeping them. Kodii Venero explained to Chrono that he had special powers, like Chrono had recently discovered of themself, along with quite a few other things that helped things make much to sense to the child. He ended up adopting Chrono soon before both their parents died.
Now they were sent here more or less for the express purpose of, as their father said it, ''Keeping an eye on Maali'.
