the only thing i'm lost at is which positions i should give o [whoops nvm, i decided i am going to have her be all nerdy with an obsession with learning about zoology and botany about other planets and a strange interest in xenology(is this even a real science? lol oh well) she loves studying zoology originally because she has a deep love and interest for animals. cx] and jupiter.
what's not taken?

personality summary: it's easy to overlook kenai's good traits and become overwhelmed with the bad. and, it's true, kenai isn't easy to work with- his brisk, prideful, cold manner, the way he becomes defensive at the slightest provocation, and his short temper and hot head make him difficult. he loves playing devil's advocate, and isn't above disagreeing just for the fun of it. easily embarresed, kenai's first reaction to anything that makes him uncomfortable is to snap. some might find it fun to mess with him, simply because you can always count on a reaction. his emotions very much control him, and he feels them very intensely. he's not just happy, he's ecstatic. he's not angry, he's enraged. however, if anyone were to win even a small portion of his trust or affections, they'll never have more loyal, if slightly aloof, a companion. not only that, but he's incredibly capable and bright, though he doesn't often apply himself. and what kind of wild child would he be if he wasn't stupidly brave? sure, there's a lot to hate about kenai, but there's plenty to love, too.

likes:rain, thunderstorms, the smell of books, new or old. tidying and organizing, colors, especially pastels. running, cooking, and tinkering with technology + finding out how things work. painting, violins, cats.
dislikes:the sound of bare feet slapping on wood, crying and appearing weak, loosing people. lukewarm water, the sound of felt-tipped markers on wood, chapped lips, and spiders.
fears:loosing those he loves, getting hurt by someone he trusts. vulnerability, and being alone.
strengths:protective, solid fighter, organized, keeps on top of things, unashamed and unafraid.
weaknesses:loyal to a fault, easily manipulated. his loud mouth and short temper often get him into trouble. can't keep a secret to save his life, unless he swore he would never tell.
quirks:chews the first two knuckles on his left hand, always carries a large metal coin with completely worn-smooth faces, is unable to digest proteins properly and will get massively ill if he consumes too much protein-rich food.

history+why they're a space kiddo:kenai's parents put a lot of pressure on him- to act a certain way, to think a certain way, to behave a certain way. they're a fairly wealthy and materialistic family, with just two children- kenai and his older brother, byron. byron was always the perfect child, and kenai has never felt able to compare to him. and kenai doesn't care for high-society. he'd much rather wear ripped up jeans and old t-shirts than be the g-qer his parents want him to be. he's never gotten good grades, not because he isn't smart but because he doesn't care about school. he prefers painting and mechanics to sports, while his parents have always wanted him to follow in byron's steps and be a star athlete and student. and kenai's explosive temper is constantly getting him into trouble. all of this chalks him to being a failure in his parents eyes. they put more pressure on him, he tries less. the cycle continues. kenai's slowly been cracking under the pressure for years, and one night it was just too much. he had gone on a bike ride to clear his head, and, while crossing a railroad track, got hit by a train... sort of. one minute, he was watching the approaching train, powerless to do anything, and the next, he was waking up in the ship.
tattoo:he has gained a small tattoo of the phases of the moon across his knuckles, with a small k centered underneath it, done in a dark, murky red.
scars+mods:he has small scar on his cheek that he earned falling out of a tree when he was six.

yep that's perfectly ok with me! but hmmm for jupiter he could be anything really, we didn't really have a set list of space cadet roles to start with, but a few ranks that come to mind right off the top of my head would be:

-i'm not sure if we ever settled on dandy being the captain or having them be a separate person but i suppose that's open
-perhaps a copilot?
-maybe like an ambassador, like somebody who represents the ship and everyone on it to other ships as well as the "HQ" all the cadets originate from
-a combat expert/officer, like the best fighter on the ship who is like their up-front fighting guy who also acts as a sparring partner for the rest on the ship so they could improve their combat skills. They're also really good at planning attacks and planning how the group will move/how they approach different situations
-a Loadmaster, someone In charge of the cargo loading/unloading operations, and by extension responsible for the kiddos in a way

oh my goodness yes, i don't know about the space cadets knowing about valentines day since it's an earth thing, but the kiddos could always bring it up. though they probably have the equivalent of valentines day in space, like a "share ya feelin's/appreciation for your pals" day or week or festival or something, i just don't know what time of year it'd be for them since you know, there aren't really seasons amongst the stars. Ah but maybe if we have them stop by the cadets home planet we could it could be around the time that's equivalent to valentines?? idk

speaking of that though what time of year should we make it? i was jut gonna go with february, since it's pretty much february now, that would make it easier for valentines celebrations and confused dance engineering nerd to happen
