I recommend to start with Japanese first, as it helps you get into the system of writing characters.
I know what you mean. I want to learn ASL(I already know some, but not a lot) because there are a lot of Deaf people at my school, but I'm too afraid to talk to them. *Shames myself for having Social Anxiety*
