@ gore - QUICK FACT: did you know that the mega evolution of rayquaza is so powerful that it's the only pokemon thats been banned from use for the uber tier of competitive pokemon battling???

It's not that it's so powerful, it's the way it Mega Evolves. All it needs to do is use Dragon Ascent. Then boom, instant Mega Rayquaza. And since it doesn't need to hold an item to Mega Evolve, that opens it to items like Razor Fang, Quick Claw, or attack boosting items like Choice Band. That's why I think it's been banned.

@ machine & gore - yeah, not sure if i said that in my earlier post, but it's only the mega evolution of rayquaza that's been banned, not normal rayquaza. (normal rayquaza's still pretty bomb tho). machine's totally right about it not needing a mega stone to mega evolve, etc. etc., which makes it pretty op already, but it's only been banned because it's got WAY too many perks for it to be fairly used in uber without destroying everything.

first of all, it has incredible base stats (i think one of the highest base stats if not the highest) in the game, which makes it incredibly op right off the bat. secondly, because of delta stream, its mega ability, it gets rid of its flying weakness (rayquaza is dragon and flying, but with delta stream, anything that would be super effective against flying types just deals 1x damage). dragon ascent, its signature move, is also crazy strong; coupled with rayquaza's stats (especially if you pump evs into it), it can basically ohko any pokemon in the game. tldr; mega rayquaza is so strong that they made another battling tier in order to accommodate it - it's called AG and basically people just spam teams of 6 mega rayquaza and battle each other, it's pretty jokes

and gore - i play on pokemon showdown too!
