^Summer is packed full of contradictions so when it comes to independence, she possibly can or can not be independent. On one side, she has the perseverance and drive to do what needs to be done, she is self-sufficient and does not need to depend on other people for the material and physical things in life. ^Kaden is not the one who ventures out into the unknown and leads the way, Kaden is the one that will follow the leader and strengthen and build upon the discovered, in other words they are the one that will "dot the I's and cross the T's". This perseverance is given to him by his stubborn streak. Kaden's stubborn streak is what gives his independence. He likes to do things his way. ｈｉｓｔｏｒｙ:
"That's a long road to go down."
We'll go with the basics. Alexis was born under a falling star; the same star that marked the departure of War from this world; after he'd been done with his fellow horseman in one of the many wars of the world. The Four Horsemen then retired to their far off underground world, to await their next call to earth.

Unbeknownst to War; his direct descendant had been born into the mortal world. Meanwhile, the girl's mother was fearful of Alexis, the little girl who'd exhibited supernatural traits. Be it the random illusions that both concerned and frightened her, or the fire her girl appeared to control; it was all too much for the young mother - she had to let her go. It was only until Death, one of the Four Horsemen, was drawn to the girl did she finally find out what she was. Taken from the streets, Alexis was united with War; who trained and honed her skills in the underworld. She'd fought fiercely beside her father, even with Death, Famine and Pestilence on occasions. Due to the heritage, she was immune to most of the fellow horsemen and their effects. Of course, Alexis was unable to join the ranks of the horsemen as she was only the daughter, that didn't stop her from hunting and joining their wars however. She was strong and independent.

Finally, the girl was deemed strong enough the face the mortal world, considering Alexis had been fighting for years it seemed only natural for War to let her create her own life, now she'd mastered her talents. Not without one final parting gift, though. Her own mount. Damnation's Flame was gifted to Alexis from War; her own horse to mark her as a remarkable descendant as one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

ｐｅｒｓｏｎａｌｉｔｙ:
Cold & calculating. That's the only way Alexis has learnt to live beside the Four Horsemen. Due to this nature; she is very stubborn (preferring to call this 'tenacious') and strong-willed - which takes the form of a deadly rebellious streak. Despite this icey, hard outer facade that cares about no-one other than herself - she is devoted soulfully to those close to her.

ｆａｔａｌ ｆｌａｗ: Devotion.
Alexis' nature and devotion to others cause her to become vengeful if they fall to harm; this is her major weakness. It drives her to commit morally questionable acts on their behalf; betray her friends and you'll have War's daughter to answer too. This unparalleled dedication is why she tries to stay away from others and walk this world alone.

history
the story starts not with arling, but of his regenerations before him. as a phoenix, he's died, and has been reborn countless times before. spanning over numerous generations of phoenixes, this male is the production of whenever his form last died. he doesn't quite remember, as his thoughts are rather jumbled. [ yours would be too, if you had a millennia of memories that aren't really yours. well, they're yours.. they're just not you? ] in the beginning, the phoenix was renowned for it's healing abilities; the magical tears. however, eventually humans began to hunt down in an attempt to imprison it for said gift. as a result, the phoenix had to one-up it's opponents, and so disappeared many years back. but.. it didn't really disappear, rather than take on the ability to acquire a human form. arling himself is unsure of exactly how. but since he can shapeshift, he isn't exactly complaining. now, arlington was probably reborn about fifty years ago, despite the fact he looks to be a young adult. he isn't quite sure why his last form died, though he has an inkling that it had something to do with swords. he arrived in the city probably five years previously, and soon found work as a falconer. his ability to communicate with birds probably didn't hinder his efforts.
