Jax Gregory, born Jack Charles Gregory, originated in abnegation. There, he was
considered to be a gifted, if benighted, youth. Though selflessness is a natural
(and mandatory) trait of those born into abnegation, Jax was always the most
generous, considerate, empathetic, helpful, and kind out of his classmates. He
grew to love poetry and fine literature, then eventually sciences and mathe-
matics. Jax excelled brilliantly at his academy. However, he ached for knowledge
beyond the classrooms of abnegation- though he dared not asked for it. It was no
surprise when his aptitude test result was Erudite- he was incredibly bright, and
dreamed of being a doctor so he could both gain knowledge and help people- two
of the things he loved most. What the public was not expecting, however, was
Jax's choice of Dauntless. He was not tough, nor brave, nor fearless. Infact, he
has many fears. Above all, though, Jax was a philanthropist of sorts- he believed
what Dauntless needed was a little kindness and some humanity- so he dedicated
himself to the faction.

Jax is 6'2", about 168 lbs, with a semi-muscular build. He's more of an intellectual
and a humanitarian than an athlete. He has sandy blonde hair and light blue eyes,
medium to fair skin, and a few freckles here and there. He has no piercings or
tattoos, but plans to get a tattoo at some point.

As stated, Jax is very kind. He has both compassion and empathy for those around
him, and is loyal to those who treat him with kindness. Jax is the kind of boy that
will come and sit by you if he sees you sitting all alone. He is very intelligent, and
is quick to come up with solutions to problems. He speaks articulately and enjoys
poetry, fine arts, literature, and medical science. He is always around to help if

Victoria James; A true Erudite. Brilliant, inquisitive, and starved of all
human nature. Victoria was very bright as a young child, and has grown into an
ambitious young woman with an ache for knowledge and discovery. Sounds like
her test result was a given Erudite, right? Wrong. Victoria, with her cold yet
curious nature, was perfectly split 50/50 between Erudite and Dauntless, making
her a divergent. Knowing that she would undoubtedly be caught and executed if
she were to return to her home faction, Victoria took the jump- literally- and
chose Dauntless. It was painful, especially since it meant leaving behind her
career, her family, and the only life she'd ever known. Fortunately, Victoria is
naturally adept in observing patterns in nature, and adjusted quickly in dauntless,
steadily making her way to the top ten initiates. Her mind works scientifically,
and while she is exceptionally bright, quick to think, and good at solving problems,
she lacks emotions and is used to other people making decisions for her (thanks
to Erudite's principles). She tends to be reserved, stubborn, pessimistic, and
slightly temperamental and irritable when she can't figure something out. While
she may be near fearless, the thought of not knowing the answer to something
frightens her more than anything.

Victoria is quite small and petite. Only standing at about 5'4", she's shorter than
nearly all of her friends, and weighs about 113lbs. What she lacks in size, she
makes up for in might. She's acquired quite a bit of muscle, and tends to be
very light on her feet while fighting and outwits her opponent. Hand-to-hand
isn't her specialty; she's more brains than brawn. Her eyes are a deep shade of
navy blue, and her hair thick, slightly wavy, and colored rich brunette with
golden undertones.

Growing up, Victoria had a relatively happy life; two best friends, loving parents,
and a fraternal twin sister. Her mum, Elizabeth, passed away when Victoria and
her sister, Hallie, were only twelve. After that, their previously kind, loving father
became cold, harsh, and suffered a severely broken heart. Victoria takes after him;
reserved, professional, stern, straight-to-the-point. Hallie, on the other hand, took
slightly more after her mother; kind, free-spirited, and only slightly rebellious.
Hallie, while just as ambitious and inquisitive as Victoria, lacked academic integrity
and didn't show very much success in school. A great amount of pressure was then
placed on Victoria to be the successor of her brilliant scientist and mathematician
father. Victoria had every intention on being that successor until her aptitude test
came back Divergent; when it came time to choose her faction, her bloodied hand
lingered for a long time over Erudite, and then a drop fell, and sizzled. She had,
without realizing it, moved her hand and let her blood trickle onto the black, jagged
rocks of Dauntless. The last thing she remembered from the ceremony was looking
across the great room, as the rowdy Dauntless surrounded and congratulated her,
and locking eyes with her father. There was nothing but sheer disappointment in his

ＪＡＸ ＧＲＥＧＯＲＹ＋ＶＩＣＴＯＲＩＡ ＪＡＭＥＳ

Victoria had been running for a considerable amount of time and was no longer able to feel any part of her body save her burning legs and aching, laboring lungs. She saw through oculars that teared with dust kicked up from the arid landscape beneath her. The thundering feet of nine dauntless soldiers slid within earshot some distance behind her, and she urged her rapidly numbing body faster, though she had nothing left to give. A cold trickle-like sensation manifested on her bare arm, and all she could see was a blur of deep crimson against her ivory skin that was pale with both exhaustion and fright. The sensation occurred again in her arm, then in the back of her thigh; it was a few moments before Victoria realized she was no longer in full sprint, but had collapsed to her knees on the water-starved ground, body limp and bloodied with several bullet wounds. Someone, a male by the feeling of it, forcefully restricted her arms behind her back. Another male's hand came under her jaw and wrapped around her chin, tilting her head up to look at him. Her eyes slowly wandered up to meet his; it was Eric. He said something to her, but Victoria was deaf over her own breathing and the roaring of blood in her ears. The last word she read from his lips was "divergent"- and the trigger was pulled.

Victoria woke with an abrupt start and a sharp inhale, as well as a hand placed on her back, gently shaking her. Disoriented, the small brunette girl sat up swiftly, leaning back on her arms. "Woah, calm down" Jax chuckled breathily. "We're leaving in half an hour, sleepyhead."

Victoria glanced around the cold, yet comfortingly familiar initiates' quarters. Seeing that is was totally abandoned save herself and Jax, everyone had gotten up and left already. A new sense of urgency swept over her. "Oh, hell! I totally forgot!" Victoria sprung to her bare feet, and quickly changed from her black t-shirt and shorts into a black wife beater shirt, leather dauntless jacket, and leggings. She proceeded to toss her few belongings into a duffle bag. "Better hurry up! Eric's going to kill you if you're late!" called Jax jokingly, heading out of the doorway. Victoria stopped for a moment after his comment (which was of no ill will), took a breath, then grabbed her boots and slung the duffle over her shoulder, catching up with Jax as he left.

The two left the initiates' quarters, Victoria still attempting to adjust to the material world around her and recovering from the dizzying nightmare realm from which she had just awoken. She stumbled into the gym alongside Jax, still lacing up her glossy black boots. The massive garage-like doors at the farthest wall of the gym were open, flooding the ordinarily dim room with bright, 10:00am daylight. There was a fleet of three black jeeps parked outside, and the other initiates were packing them with guns, supplies, and their own individual duffle bags. Once they had made their way across the expansive concrete floor and stepped outside, Victoria followed quickly behind Jax and tossed her bag into the back of the 2nd vehicle. Her mind still pondered the recurring nightmare.
