if earnest was the brother of the previous king that would make things way too complicated as you said so probably it'd be better just to make it so that merek and katarina were born unexpectedly as twins or something when the previous queen was really old otherwise we'd have to change their ages because it's impossible for a woman to have two different children in 9 months and omg help me i'm going to explode
okayokayokay so the both of them are siblings to earnest, and perhaps earnest is more of a father figure than a brotherly figure because maybe while the queen was pregnant with katarina the previous king died and then poof, coronation for earnest

is that good?

what if Hawkstar was named Lord Protector of his predecessor/brother's heir (AKA Merek)?
Or what if he was treasonous and lead a rebel army to take over the throne? That'd make Merek and Katrina his wards and captives. The former king could easily have been a man who was not a fighter at all and surrendered while the children were young. And then if their parents died soon after that'd leave them orphans and they would have been brought up alongside Hawkstar's kids.

maybe the previous king married a really, really young queen and therefore she lived longer than the king. Which might make the age difference... work? if they're all siblings... still impossible if they're 17 now, that would be like.. did the previous king marry a baby? -shot-
But screw logic.
We'll say. yes. earnest is the oldest brother. merek came second and katrina is the youngest.
family history not important - but Merek and Katrina would have to change their ages. does that make Merek and Katrina the aunt and uncle of Calla and Exon?

I've thought of the idea of Merek and Katrina being Hawkstar's wards too :'D but then Hawkstar didn't seem all that treasonous to me so so I just scrapped that thought -sob-

Merek and Katrina could be the son and daughter of Hawkstar's old dear friend who died in battle. In honor of his best friend's memory, he took Merek and Katrina under his wing - they became his ward, and Hawkstar treats them like his own kids and upped their levels as prince and princess 8D (therefore exon would receive the crown afterwards, since he is hawkstar's real oldest son)
but then. Merek and Katrina would have to change their history on their profiles...

Yeah, if Keriae didn't tell me about this discussion right now, I wouldn't even know about it and... yeah, the age difference totally slipped off my mind... >.< And yeah, I don't mind changing the age (or anything about the form) and I noticed one of the characters was named Ivory, which means I'd have to change the name (I'd like to change the name anyways)

yeayea earnest is king. he can do whatever he wants. wave his magic sceptre and make Merek and Katrina prince and princess.
OH. like... um... Exon and Calla can be High Prince and Princess(if that's even possible, ripping off narnia now 8D) that'll ensure exon gets the crown when earnest retires. Unless Merek is feeling like fighting for his right for the throne.
but. that's another problem for another day.
