Maeve Deveraux | 25 | Female | Witch
Pronouns: She/Her
Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance: Maeve has long, black hair that is in several braids as a protective style, braided with dark red and purple, that reaches to her waist. Her eyes are very dark brown, a deep amber in direct sunlight, and are of an average eye shape. She stands at 5'10", which is a fair bit taller than average women, and has an athletic build with a fair bit of muscle. She has a heart-shaped face, with a sharp jawline, and high-set cheekbones. She has a dark skin tone, and a gold piercing in her left eyebrow.
Personality: Although Maeve is a little intimidating and mysterious, she is, really, quite warm and sociable. Perhaps not mostly something one would expect for a witch that specialises in necromancy and animancy. She is very studious and hardworking, always finding something new to learn and work with in her practice. She can be a little disorganised, though, and her workspace tends to be 'organised chaos'. She's also quite stubborn and headstrong, often refusing to budge on anything she's set her mind on - especially if it's involving her magic. Remain on her good side, and you'll find that Maeve is gently honest, deeply loyal and protective. You need something, she will find it... for a price, of course.
Bio: Born to a family of witches well-versed and known in the field of necromancy and animancy, Maeve has always been surrounded by magic and the arts. The eldest of her siblings - of which she has two - Maeve has always felt some sort of responsibility to protect them, though less so now that they are all older. She's always been curious and studious, learning spells and potions involving the magic that the family has always worked with. Humans and werewolves alike have requested services, but given the nature of necromancy and animancy spells, they require a high price - both monetary and usually some sort of sacrifice from the requester, whether a memory, sentimental object, or even some lifeforce or sacrifice of a body part or sense from the requester, if the spell is particularly strong and messes with the whole life and death balance significantly.
Maeve lives on her own now, offering her own necromancy and animancy services in New Orleans, where none of the rest of her family have branched out to. She is extremely particular about requests she's given, careful to warn of the prices requesters will have to pay. She doesn't bring people back to life, they would never be the same. But for a few minutes to talk to them after they'd died - that is more doable. Bringing renewed vitality to someone's life - it'll cost a lot, but she can do it.
Maeve also carries with her a mahogany box, which is velvet-lined, inside of which is three squirrel skeletons that she is able to reamimate and be her companions, usually helping with spells or potions, or she teaches them to dance.
