they call the land nirvana. paradise. where the horses run free, untamed
and unbroken, wild, out of the grasp of mankind. it is idyllic and serene,
the hardships and tribulations here natural, by predators or other means.
the herds of nirvana flourish, and thrive. a recent wildfire has left
nirvana in recovery, and the native flora and fauna has began to return.
the strong horses survived, and are now looking to create new herds. the
question is - how long can nirvana truly stay a paradise?

RULES

» i. follow all of the site + roleplay rules .
» ii. all forms must go on the discussion thread .

» vi. all horses start out as loners / bachelors .
» vii. if you have a mare and a stallion, they cannot be in
the same herd.
» viii. remember that your horse is not invincible - they
can get injured, sick, etc, and can even die. if you decide to
kill off one of your horses, feel free to make a new one,
however a form will still be needed for them on the discussion
thread.
ix. mare or stallion capping may be enforced until there
is an equal amount of both and then they may open up again -
try to keep the number of stallions and mares balanced.
x. do not make more horses than you can handle.


OTHER INFORMATION

» reproduction. mares carry their foals for 11 months. twins
are extremely rare (and therefore only 1-2 sets will be allowed).
they wean typically at six months, when they are able to eat
solid foods. heat generally occurs every 20-22 days and last
for only a few days, where they go through four stages - but
during winter, they don’t go into heat. it may take several
coverings for a mare to finally become pregnant. the stages
of heat are as follows:


» stage one. the mare is uninterested and won’t allow
a stallion to cover her.
» stage two. the mare is still pretty uninterested, but
may be a little more receptive.
» stage three. the mare is growing interested, and will
likely allow him to cover her.
» stage four. the mare is very interested, and will always
accept being covered, even if it isn’t her stallion.

» age. the longest a horse will be allowed to live is twenty-five
years old. horses can die in a variety of ways - natural disasters,
low resources, and predators are just a few. they begin to
weaken at about eighteen years old, and at that point a
younger stallion would win in a challenge. the prime age of
horses are between the age of thirteen to eighteen years,
and when they become older than that, they tend to become
a lot weaker and aren’t able to win challenges against younger
stallions. mares are, essentially, the same way. lead mares
are mares older than five years old - they start to loose fertility
at fifteen, and at eighteen, birthing becomes dangerous.
