- Laurens let himself fall quiet as Dany responded to his lamenting of the pack situation. He was never one to intercede when the other was talking and would rather she make sure she was complete in her response before replying. She spoke with the wisdom of a matured wolf and the insight of one who had not experienced the complexity of a pack. These were elements he was grateful for and the wolf cocked his head as he listened to her intently. For a moment he forgot what she was saying and just watched in awe at the wolf he had managed to romance. She continued talking, unaware to his thoughts, her eyes glittering with intelligence and consideration. It was as though from the mere sentences he'd said she had deduced the issue with Folkvar's turmoil and reinforced his pack member's dutiful and loyal attributes. She tugged at some tufts and Laurens gave an offended scoff, "I'm not that bad, surely." He knew he was lying blatantly and to be perfectly honest, he too wasn't enjoying this grime. Laurens was a neat and orderly wolf but the stress of the past few days had made him neglect his own hygiene. Thoughts of cleanliness were cut short when she produced a rabbit. How he hadn't smelled it before was all due to his lack of attention. Or perhaps it was that she was such a good distraction to him. The smell and sight of her could overpower even a meal.
When she ordered them off to the den he sat upright, paws neatly in the centre, waiting for her to turn back and look at him. When she did he gave a tooth-riddled grin, "Have I ever told you you're perfect?" So pleased with the wolf that was his company, Laurens picked up off his spot on the ground and loped after her towards their den. Once again, being small was an advantage. It was spacious to wolves their size and he gave her a grateful nuzzle to her ear as he passed her to enter. He knew she took pride in the place and his paws felt like heaven under the soft cushioning of the moss and feather. It smelled distinctly of Daenerys, making the den all the more feminine - not that Laurens minded. He would consider himself feminine in some places like his mannerisms and speech though this was only active when he was relaxed. When working as an alpha he respected the traditional role of dominant masculinity. "I like what you've done with the place," he joked lightly, wrinkling his snout as she regarded his appearance. "I have too much class to be unclean," he stated with a raise of his chin. Laurens humorous nature was thanks to the fact that he didn't have to maintain power over Dany as she was not part of the pack - instead his equal. He dragged his tongue across one of his paws to lift some dirt but now that it was in sight, he wanted the hare she had captured. "They're fast, you must've done well," he complimented gently and moved to lay on his side to offer her room.
Thinking back to their earlier conversation, he let his tone drop a little further and began with, "With loners like Anubis, the pack like to keep an eye on those outside our authority. So perhaps not a wolf-hunt but they'd definitely want to size you up." Laurens didn't want to frighten Daenerys but he knew she was reasonable and would understand the motives behind what the pack did. "Regarding you joining the pack, I know you don't want to know but I think you should," he added, "what is there not to love about you? You hold experience above every other wolf except me, you're older than even Folkvar. You can stand your own ground should any try to test their boundaries with you- not that they will unless they want to invoke my distaste. You're dutiful, cunning, nurturing and more than ideal for a place among us. Plus they have to love you if you hold my children." The latter part Laurens added in with another grin, batting his tail against the den floor. They hadn't spoken of puppies before due to the fact that Laurens did not want them raised in a loner environment compared to the safety of a pack. But now that it seemed Dany was weighing her future, he wanted to bring them into topic to entice her. "Once we can gather more information from this Omen, a feast would do us good - including a sacrifice which I'm sure Folkvar will insist upon. Afterwards I should like to introduce you."
He was toeing the line of what Daenerys would be okay with. She had lived her whole life following the paw-steps of her parents and now he was asking her to change. As if he could sense her insecurity, Laurens moved closer to her and lay his head to her feet, looking up at her with honest eyes. "I want nothing more than for you to be in my life all the time, Dany, but I understand in order to begin anew you must leave your old ways behind. You'd be making a sacrifice so great in my name and I would cherish your trust in me, never to damage or disrespect it," Laurens let his tongue drag slowly across her leg, lifting his head to nuzzle her lip and fuss over her features. "Daenerys, you are both my strength and my weakness."
He had barley gotten the words out when there was a spark in the air and Laurens immediately jerked his head towards the entrance. His hackles rose up, giving him a full mane that increased his size. He was still laying down but he raised his upper half a little protectively before Daenerys. In his ears he heard the whispering of the air around them, like a god was trying to talk to him. Laurens always followed their guidance when they appeared to him but they had been silent for so long that it seemed unlikely to be them. Believing that it was the forest itself and his connection to his pack, the wolf let his mane flatten but he glanced nervously to Daenerys, "I think there may be something happening." He said nothing more, soothing his nerves. By duty he should go and find the source that the land was warning him of but he was with Daenerys and to run off would mean having her accompany; not a good idea. Not to mention he was confident in the unity of his pack and both Folkvar and Onyx's leadership. These thoughts settled him right down and he gave an exasperated laugh, "Perhaps I do need a break." Snapping his jaws in the direction of the food she had produced, never one to eat before the hunter did, Laurens shuffled closer to her and flirtatiously nipped at her neck. "What do you say we eat then find a water source?"
