Salem was crouched below a bush, eating a small rodent. Though his rank was pushed to a Omega, he was up helping patrol in the middle of the night, not really tired but starving he stopped for a little quick bite. As an omega he ate last, and he was shocked they even had him patrol. They didn't trust him, they didn't like him from hat he could tell. But I suppose they need all the help they need, even mine. Thinking to himself, and swishing his tail. Salem finished eating, and licked the blood dripping off his maw. Hearing the howl from Folkvar he groaned. Salem, angry at the gods for creating more work for him. Forcing him to stay in the pack. As much as he would love to be a rouge again, he knew it was unlikely. With the evil coming out. How selfish of them, huh? he snorted while thinking to himself. Salem trotted his way back to the den, the small and tight paths winding him back and forth, back and forth. Almost in a dizzy like state. Salem's eyes shifted at every little noise. He had little care for the pack, or if they lived or died. But for himself? He wanted to live, he had no desire to let this omen kill him. His instinct was to live, and strive no matter what it takes. Even if it takes working with a bunch of others he can't stand.

Maybe he just didn't see the big picture. That the evil is coming, and you can't stop it. Just fight it.

Salem made it back to the den safely, wondering how everyone else made it out. Shrugging off his thoughts they wandered back to if he really wanted to stay in the pack or not, grinning at the thought of being a loner again. Oh how wonderful would it be if this insane omen would leave us be.. Salem sighed and felt his feet touch the cold rocks near the den, sending a chill down his spine. Looking around at the few pack members he could see. Most if not all looked so nervous and like they had the plague. Salem did have slight pity for them. They all looked sick, or like they've seen a ghost. He kept walking without paying attention to where he was walking when he bumped into someone, shaking out his fur and groaning in pain. Headbutting right into them.

Zuri woke up, nervous and frightened with Folkvar's howl. Glancing around her ears picked up and alert, but exhausted she rose from where she laid the night before. Zuri shook herself out and got her self together. She couldn't believe the gods betrayed them, that the gods would let this happen to them. Getting up softly she sighed to herself. Thoughts ran through her head. What will we do? How can we possibly fight anything from Fenrir? How can we possibly survive this? Are we all going to die? Zuri had moved swiftly, and carefully. Always silent, only turning over a rock or two. Her posture low and demeaning, almost as if sadness and exhaustion took her over. Zuri moved to the front of the den, out of the way of her other pack members. Though most of them were awake and alert hearing that ear piercing howl. Zuri watched a couple wolves come back into the den after the night patrol. Everyone looked so tired except Salem. Zuri wrinkled her nose up and tilted her head. She could never understand how he was so emotionless, and so harsh towards the pack. Yea being an omega sure does suck but to the point of not caring about anyone? Zuri had such a big heart and could feel for anyone. Never getting how someone could be so ungrateful towards the alpha for even letting that ungrateful slob live with them. Zuri shook her head and snorted in disgust.

Zuri stretched her front end out and spread her toes. She looked around for the alpha, or anyone who needed anything. Ready to help. In a way hoping she could go out and gather herbs for the pack. They'll need them to fend off attacks and heal each other during such hard times. Zuri hoped some herbs and practices could keep away the evil. If only for a little bit, while they figured out a plan on how to fight it off and save their lives. Since the gods surely won't

She was half asleep, head bobbing amidst her exhaustion. She had been oblivious to Lauren's approach and only woke at his touch and command. Nodding sleepily and got up, barely able to put a paw in front of the other. The grasp of sleep had already taken control of her mind and it would take a small miracle to make it to the den before she fell smack on her face into a dead sleep. As she plodded forward she smacked into Salem and she narrowed her eyes, her ears slicking back to her head. "Seriously Salem? Seriously?" She snapped, her irate mood was merely linked to her sleep deprivation and it was obvious she harbored no ill feelings for the brute who carried an attitude so similar to her own. In fact she quite fancied the male's company.

She stood there, annoyance filling her gaze towards him. She merely flicked an ear back as she heard Laurens address Folkvar and then say he was going to converse further when he returned. Ophelia simply summed it up the fact that the Alpha needed a walk to clear his mind and gather his thoughts on the ill omen the pack was faced with. She sat down finally, her head outstretched and her face clearly unamused with Salem. She wasn't even angry at him but merely annoyed which was likely attributed to her lack of sleep and over-working herself. Her brows were furrowed but she shifted as she heard him groan and her gaze flitted with concern for a few sparse seconds before it quickly left. "Are you okay?" She asked softly, her voice merely a whisper. It was exceedingly rare that she offered a caring side towards most but she found Salem's company in the recent seasons quite suitable.

Lately on patrols she'd gone on with him she could shoot off sarcastic whips towards him and he'd give it right back to her, she had no ill feelings for the brute- infact she quite appreciated the fact that he had a similar cold and brash personality to her own. it was a source of comfort wherein she could be herself without worry of hurting feelings or stepping on toes. In recent times she had forced herself to reign herself in, of course with the helpful guidance of Laurens who often stepped in should she ever loose her cool with another pack mate.

She was so involved in her own frolicking that she hadn't noticed the very presence of the brute who had managed to capture her heart. Instead she laid there, enjoying the patchy sun that warmed her pelt, her contentment and freedom came with only few downsides. She came from a long lineage of loners, her veins hummed with a sense of individuality and wanderlust, yet she yearned for a family. In her older and more mature age she had considered settling somewhere to start up her own small family yet the only male who had her love was a pack alpha. She'd endlessly support him and try to ease his woes on their visits together but the idea of going into a pack frightened her deeply, joining a pack was something completely foreign to her. It was a battle of mind and heart, she knew in the end which would win. She wanted to honor her lineage of her parents and remain a loner in her old age but she'd by lying to herself if she didn't admit that she'd join Laurens with enough ushering.

Her thoughts ceased to exist as she saw the silver pelt of Laurens emerge, only it was too late before he was atop her and playfully biting her neck, forcing a surprised yet equally delighted yelp from her muzzle. Comparatively to other wolves both of them were relatively small but she compared to Laurens was petite and dainty whereas he was stronger and well toned. A smile pulled at the edges of her muzzle and she smiled, positivity seemed to radiate from her and without even meaning to she had curled her head backwards, as if offering him her neck. Even when playing it was merely her more submissive nature that would give such a blatant and trusting gesture. Within seconds though she reached up, biting the side of his neck playfully. Small growls and rumbles came from her body but her tail wagged behind her happily. Her grasp was gentle on his neck and she broke away from him, using her paw to swat at his muzzle. "You scared me!" She cooed, with a furrowed brow, ears perked at his attempt to reprimand her.

A sigh escaped her and she paced forward, sitting down and merely tucking her head under his and nuzzling him. "I'm just tiring of the sneaking around I suppose." She admitted in barely a whisper, she knew very well the only way to fix that feeling was the join his pack but she didn't feel ready for that. What if they decided she wasn't worthy of being in their pack? What if they turned on Laurens for having a forbidden relationship with a loner? Fear and apprehension prickled her pelt at the thought. Her ears flattened softly, "I know we must remain a secret. I plan on going to the lake today and I can always soak moss in water and drench everything in water. It should make the scents stale, or cover myself in mud and then cover it that way." She added again, pulling away from him to offer a gentle lick to his cheek. She was over the moon in love with him, even if he didn't know it. She had been a hopeless romantic all her life yet it was only with him that she let her heart be stolen. He was a thief, a handsome silver and zinc thief.

It was only now in her silence that she had noticed the subtle signs of restlessness in the male. She gave a soft whine, "Did you sleep at all last night?" She queried gently, head tilted slightly. "And don't lie to me Laurens." She added sternly, a hit of a motherly tone laid within her voice, which flowed from her mouth like warm honey. She was only faintly aware of the Omens that his pack Shaman had foreseen. Loners had a way of learning the Omens themselves. She had connections within the forest and if she needed to communicate with the gods or heed a warning she would seek out the loner equivalent of a Shaman. She hadn't asked recently how his pack was dealing with it, or how he had been fairing. Perhaps he needed a fresh meal and a bit of rest away from the members of his pack. How long had it been since someone had preened and cared for him? The thought crossed her mind and she felt her heart tighten slightly, if there was one thing that Dany excelled it it was homemaking.

Salem shook his head in annoyance. "what about you! Watch where your going!" Salem bared his teeth slightly, just as sleep deprived as her but it not showing as much on him. Salem yawned, showing off his pearly whites were stained red from his food. "Yea i'm fine, just.. tired." Looking at the fae he grinned a toothy grin. Almost charming like. It was pretty nice to see her sweet side come out, rarely but still nice to see someone has a soft side. "I missed you out there tonight. I was patrolling alone, got super boring. I had nobody to pick on." Salem spoke softly and calmly. He licked his maw, getting more of the dried blood off. "Even though you, obviously ran into me so sleep deprived." still smiling at her "I'm glad you managed to get some sleep. I know its been hectic these past few days." A serious tone fell over him. Ophelia and him being very similar, get along quite well. They both get fiery and feisty to the point where when they're together its like a fire ignited. They always got along so well, and even if they didn't the situation always diffused with one of their witty remarks at each other. Its never escalated enough to end their friendship. Salem flicked his ears and looked at her. "So are you patrolling today? What did Laurens assign you?" Salem said rolling the eye and sneering at the name Laurens. Never getting along with him, but especially since he was recently de-ranked and now nobody really respects him. All because of an omega ranking, which was unbelievable. But Laurens wasn't dumb, he knew Salem was strong enough to protect himself and fend off something himself. Salem waited his response from Ophelia, wondering what the pack had planned for her for the day. Tired but knew he should stay up the rest of the day and rest tonight, unless Laurens had other dumb plans. Salem felt physically exhausted from that all night patrol though. Stretching his body out, you could hear his bones crack with every movement like he was some sort of old man. He wondered what the plans were for the pack today, not caring too much but very curious. Laurens did seem to leave off in a worried rush. Such uncertainty in the past recent days that he wondered what fate they would fall under to. Ophelia seemed to be in her own sleep deprived little world and he chuckled. "Um, hello? Anybody in there? Or are you dreaming again?" Flicking the tip of his tail. He felt how she was feeling today. Sleep was a rare occurrence now.

    𝙇𝙖𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙨 ✧❱ position: alpha !! statistics: 7 ♂ !! tags&mentions: daenerys, folkvar, ophelia, salem
Once Dany had recognised who he was, their light game ensued. The alpha squirmed on top of her as he gave dull tugs with his teeth and pawed at her fur. They looked far from the elders of the forest with their frames and nature though perhaps with age you realised there's no point in being grumpy over everything. As she revealed her neck to him he loosened his grasp to lick fervently at her throat, rewarding her submissive nature. He felt her fangs come to his own skin and yipped, writhing to escape her. Laurens chuckled as she finally spoke to him and he let her escape from his grapple, mouth wide in a happy pant as she rubbed her head under him. The mood dampened a little at her remark and Laurens gave a gentle frown. It had been some months of them together and the wolf felt the same as her when it came to hiding. In the beginning it had been exciting though now the novelty had worn off and Laurens found himself more stressed out when he had to hide from his family to come see it. It was worth the risk, no doubt, but it was not ideal.

She pulled away and licked his cheek. Laurens loved her affection but he could tell she was at odds with herself. Looking at her softly, the alpha flattened his ears and gave a sympathetic whine, licking her chin to try and comfort her. "Don't bother yourself, the pack know you linger around here and if they suggest a wolf-hunt I will discourage it," he didn't want her having to strain herself just because she felt the need to mark some space for herself. If anything he liked her doing this, it showed that she was perhaps attached to the land and her wanderlust was rubbing off. Sitting in the meadow with her, Laurens was content with their relationship. But as soon as either of them left they were taken back to reality. He had fallen for a lone wolf who had a nomadic spirit. And she had, for some unknown reason, chosen Laurens; a wolf contracted to his pack via his position as alpha. One of them would have to compromise if they ever wished to go further.

Yet would that change his precious Daenerys? Would she no longer be so free spirited and optimistic? Laurens worried that the duties and routine of the pack would fade away his counterpart. At the same time, he selfishly wished her to be with him, as his alpha female. Shaking his fur out, the wolf blew air into her face and nipped her cheek, "We won't sneak around forever, we'll sort something out. I promise."

Before he could continue on, Dany picked up on his dilemma with the omen and the future of the pack. He gave a breathy chuckle, looking down at his paws, "You're as perceptive as ever." When he lifted his eyes to look at her, Laurens felt so much appreciation for her concern. "I slept a little. Folkvar is worked up over this Omen. Many of the wolves are snappy enough without the constant threat of oncoming danger. Ophelia hardly sleeps, Wren works far too hard for her age, they patrol constantly and I believe that Salem is geared up to challenge me at some point." Speaking of the omega made Laurens bat his tail against the ground once out of annoyance. He would rise to meet any challenge without falter but with the pack lacking the gods' favour made him doubt whether he would be as successful as usual.

"I will always seek the guidance of the gods but they have laid quite severe paranoia upon my wolves until they are chasing their own tails. Folkvar is not himself, he is too busy looking up for answers," confiding in her provided him comfort. He would value and believe in whatever she had to say on the matter simply because he knew her intentions were pure - another reason he so fervently dreamed of her being his alpha female. When he turned to thank her for listening, he paused at her expression. It was resolve in her eyes that told him of her intentions to coddle him. "No, I do not need a bath or a groom," he began but he knew it was too late. When Daenerys wanted to busy herself in cleaning and comforting, he could not escape. "I'm alright, I swear," as he said it, Laurens knew he was lying. Dead tufts of fur hung in his pelt, his usually silver legs a tawny brown and black. He looked like a typical bachelor.

❰ sub ❱ ❰ female ❱ ❰ 4 ❱ ❰ status: not in season ❱ ❰ crush: closed ❱ ❰ tags: Salem ❱ ❰ mentions: - ❱
Ophelia sat down, her head barely being held upright. Salem had been out patrolling as well last night? Strange that she hadn't run into him during her own patrols. Then again she wasn't sniffing every rock and log within the stretched of their territory for the scent of a friend, pack wolf, or that female loner who resided peacefully within the pack's territory. Coming from a history of being a loner Ophelia respected the loner and the fact that she hadn't tried to press farther into the territory. It was a mutual understand that existed between she and that female. She doesn't intrude farther into pack lands and Ophelia wouldn't tell her Alpha or go to great lengths to cover Dany's scent on various logs and rocks within the territory. A pack wolf had done the same for her once and she was happy to pass on the favor.

Her mind returned back to Salem and she cocked a brow in question. She certainly didn't run into him, it was the other way around for sure. "First of all, you ran into me. Not the other way around you dingus. Secondly, I was up all night patrolling the South and East parts of the territory, Laurens quite literally told me to sleep before he talked to Folkvar and left." She added with a shrug, her muzzle gaping wide into a yawn that had her tongue lolling outside of her muzzle for quite some time. "Quite frankly it seems like you could use some sleep too you big oaf." She added it in cheekily with a grin, her teasing was light and playful, after all she had a missed opportunity to make up for.

Though as she sat the sun gradually warmed her pelt and she found herself deep within the reaches of her subconscious. Dozing off she staggered to the side, catching herself as Salem once more opened his yapper to steak to her. "I'm here...barely. Usually I'd sit and go back and forth with you but I'm drop dead tired. I'm goin' to bed." She added and got up, head-butting his shoulder and taking small, sloppy steps towards the den that she'd soon flop down in to rest in all her glory. She paused though, turning her head to look behind her and she snorted towards him and stuck her tongue out before retreating into the den, trying her hardest to stop over paws and tails.

Daenerys' mouth hung open in a soft pant, the corners of her muzzle upturning in a smile as he licked at her neck. Twas a fickle thing, her submissive nature yet yearn for independence. She'd only ever voluntarily submitted to Laurens, her trust within him had been forged to be stronger than tempered steel in the coming months. Otherwise she only showed her submission when getting in a more tense situation. For many others an outsider submitting to them seemed to fill their ego and they'd let her be for the most part. She could see the slight frown that carried on his muzzle and she felt her heart ache softly, perhaps if she were younger she would be more apt with the game of hide and seek, though the buzz of doing something supposedly mischievous had long gone, and only now could she see how it impacted Laurens, the sneaking and the lying to his family and pack. All the while it both broke her heart and warmed it, his loyalty to both his pack and her was something to be admired.

As he licked her chin the worrisome thoughts ebbed away and she smiled gently as his reply. She'd be more discreet, it wasn't fair to him to put a wedge between himself and his pack all because she wanted to have her own small patch of land. The thought hadn't come yet as to why she had marked the space, she never had done so before. Was she growing fond of this territory and even more so, attached? "Do you think they'd really want a wolf-hunt?" She asked it softly, pressing her head to his shoulder before turning away to look at the meadow. She was elated with Laurens and their relationship, but once they would depart it went back to her merely traversing the outskirts of the territory on her lonesome. Usually such a situation wouldn't bother her but she yearned for his company more and more with each passing day.

Perhaps an adventure could be had within a pack? While it wouldn't consist of seeing new places or feeling new soil under your paws it would be an adventure nonetheless, and one she'd get to experience out in the open with him. She stifled the sigh that bubbled in her lungs, perhaps if the Gods hadn't cast such a wretched omen on his pack she'd join soon, but now? With the promise of something bad on the horizon? Surely his pack-mates would suspect that she is part of that Omen. Her thoughts escaped to the back of her mind as he nibbled and nipped at her cheek. A light giggle passed her lips and she could feel some of the more delicate strands of fur billow around at the air he had blown towards her, "I know we won't, but now it becomes a question of when." She said it softly, if it came down to it she'd exchange her freedom to be with him, she had to. Still the thought scared her, beyond losing her freedom to come and go as she pleased she'd become an Alpha. She'd have an actual role within the pack that needed to be fulfilled, "What if I join your pack eventually? Would they even accept me as their Alpha Female? Muchless as a member of the pack..?" She asked worridly, casting a soft gaze to Laurens, "Don't answer that. I don't think I want to know." She suddenly ejected with an affirming nod. She could tell that if his reply was something other than an overwhelming yes that she'd get her feelings hurt.

Once he spoke of his pack she listened intently, finding herself frowning at the bad news. Even from afar she knew of these wolves and their mannerisms. Ophelia, the dutiful and callous loner turned viciously protective pack-wolf. Wren, the sassy beta whom showed fierce loyalty to the pack. Salem, a brute who seemed to hold a dominate heart matched with his determination, a troublesome pairing. A soft growl befell her lips at him speaking of the afore mentioned brute possibly seeking to challenge Laurens. She turned, nibbling along his jaw and chin, finishing the gesture with a swift lick to his cheek. "You're a marvelous Alpha my love. He'd be an idiot to try and challenge you. He'd make a fool of himself in front of the pack." She spoke softly, her tone held a convicting truth yet remained gentle and loving towards him.

She fell quiet once more as he continued to confide in her and she felt a frown tug at the corners of her muzzle. The Gods had been ignoring their pack Shaman. She merely wanted to take Laurens and stash him away in her less complicated world, hide him from the stress and worries he endured daily. Letting out a soft sigh she pondered for a moment, her own faith in the gods was steadfast but a clear line was drawn in the sand between she and them. She heeded their advice and warnings but at the end of the day she chose the path that her paws walked upon. "From what I have heard the trouble isn't coming from up above, but rather around. Perhaps Folkvor needs to stop looking up. The Gods have made it clear, they said as much as they wished to share and no more." She spoke softly, her own wits oozed into her words, "As for Ophelia and Wren, both have shown to be dutiful and ever so hard working members of the pack. With time they will calm, it might do the whole pack some level of good if you had a feast. Boost morale and work on strengthening the pack bonds between everyone. I was always told the whole premise of a pack was safety and reassurance in numbers, let them feel that security of the pack." She finished, a small smile gracing her muzzle at her reply. She was proud of herself, she had offered what she felt to be solid advice.

Now though, Laurens swore he was fine, that he didn't need her grooming and superb comforting skills. She gave an amused snort, she knew very well she had won this battle before it even started. "You don't need a good grooming just as much as I don't need water." She said with a soft hum of laughter, bending down she plucked one of several tufts of dead fur from his pelt and let one of her brows raise questioningly. "Just stay long enough to rest, have a good meal, and be cared for. Everyone needs a break sometimes, including you and luckily caring for others is my specialty." She finished and nudged his shoulder. Eventually she got up and trotted towards the limp rabbit that was hidden within the grass, it's soft brown pelt perfectly camouflaged against eyes that weren't seeking to find it. "To our den we go, you already have a meal that's still somewhat warm but very fresh." The words our den made her heart flutter and she pranced around him, ushering him towards the den that they had made together. Since then she had filled it with soft feathers and moss as bedding, that den was her home. As such she trotted forwards, waiting outside the small and hidden entrance to it with a soft smile.

She enjoyed caring for her loved ones, filling their bellies and giving them a good grooming. It made her feel purposeful beyond being simply a loner whom skittered around their territory. As much as she loved seeing new places nurturing was where her heart truly laid, the ability to look after someone else and ease their mind was something she loved to do. She looked back to Laurens and a soft laugh escaped her, "From afar you look like a dirty bachelor who doesn't know what cleanliness is." The words carried along her tongue and her eyes glittered with profound love for him and amusement at her own jesting, "When you return to your pack you'll be the glittering Alpha that I know and love." She added again, nodding her head along with her words. While some females enjoyed the tattered and 'rugged' look of an ungroomed brute she liked hers clean and sophisticated, and right now Laurens was a strange mix of the two. He carried himself in a sophisticated manner but his pelt that remained cluttered with dead fur seemed rugged in a sense.

Salem flicked his tail watching her intently. She could barely keep herself up, her head drooping, and her eyes just spelled pure exhaustion. Salem saw a lot of things last night, but not her. Saw a lot of weird things, and a lot of odd noises and scents. But Ophelia wasn't one of them. Salem perked his large ears up listening to her speak. "Oh really? Because you look just as tired and not paying attention as me." His tail flicking around, annoyance filled his brain hearing about Laurens. Super annoyed, and he felt much more worthy than him. But in reality, the pack would fall apart. And so would his power trip if he became alpha. Salem would be to problematic as a leader, lacking the empathy and compassion needed.

Salem grinned a cheeky grin, and heard her comment about how he needed just as much as sleep. "Maybe I do, maybe I don't.." his gaze staring at her with a sly smile. Being difficult as ever. "i'm pretty beat myself, its hard staying out there all night having nobody to talk too. Hard to keep yourself awake." As she yawned, he did so after. Yawns must of been contagious right? The sun warming her made her look quite magnificent. Very calming and royal like, her eyes gleaming in the sunlight as well. As Salem stood in a slightly shaded spot. The sun only hitting him in certain spots of his body.

"So you're just gonna sleep away our problems? I do like that idea.." He chuckled to himself, his yellow teeth poking out of his mouth while doing so. Feeling her headbutt his shoulder sent a slight chill down his spine. Not normally getting touched by other pack members, because they knew his limits and boundaries. Ophelia always pushed them though, and pushed past his barriers. Making him not care much at all what she did too him, thus all the teasing and poking fun at him. Salem shook his fur out, dust and dirt falling off and watch Ophelia walk into the den. Obviously very tired, she could barely keep her self up. Walking, walking was a whole other thing at this point. Salem trotted up beside her and went underneath her, scooping her up on his back suddenly and quickly. Heavy, but he could manage. "Come on you old lady get back to your den." he laughed to himself while she was on his back. Flicking his tail back and forth he managed to bring her the few feet to her den. Plopping her down gently in her regular sleeping spot. "Did you gain a few pounds?" Salem joked at her and shook his head. "Maybe we should get at least an hour or two of sleep.." he spoke while dozing off in his own little world himself.

Salem laid down beside her but not too close. His eyes staring at her, not breaking a gaze for a second. His legs sprawled out, and his tail wrapped around him. His paws felt the chill of the rocks, and it felt wonderful. Much better than sitting in the sun, always favoring the cold in any situation.

Re: ── ‘ the uninvited

Postby Coastal Coyote » Thu Jun 14, 2018 9:41 am

Morning. Was it morning already? She had just gone to sleep a moment before. No, that wasn't true. There was a dream in there somewhere. Of gulls, of rocky beaches. She could almost feel the ocean spray on her dense white fur, smell the salt air. Could almost see it... But with a howl it was gone. The hair along her spine stood like a ridge and a low rumbling growl reverberated low in her throat. Lips pulled back in a snarl at the sound. The white wolf much preferred to wake up slowly, not all at once. It was jarring, every time jarring her from one world into the next. Disorienting at times. She hated it. Inky orbs opened slowly and she lay there for a moment, head still resting on the cool ground. She looked around briefly, eyes floating from one wolf to the next as they rose from their pile and moved about. They all slept close together, which she found incredibly odd. Then again, the wolves in this pack all together seemed very odd to her. Other groups hadn't been so unified as them, as close knit. Not that she quite understood the actions of other wolves or packs either, but this one was especially alien to her. The large white fae did not join them each night in their huddle, but kept to the outside pressed as far away into the walls as if she expected the earth to swallow her up and hide her there. They grouped together for safety and comfort, both if which were far removed from how she felt to be that close to any of them. Much less the whole pack. Which was probably to their advantage, since some mornings when once again entering a pack she would wake up snapping. Thankfully this had dissipated to just a growl.

It was to her advantage as well, for then she needed no excuse as to why she wouldn't lay close to them after their shamen brought them the troubling news. Albatross expected that they would immediately turn on her, and now was even more cautious than usual. She used to go off on her own each day, hunting and exploring, staying out of sight. But now she felt like she had to be where they could see her all the time, so they would have no reason to suspect their newcomer of bringing this curse upon them. So far, at least as far as she could tell, they hadn't thought her suspect of such things at all. It seems that she had outrun her bad reputation. For this she was extremely grateful, even so far as to pray to their gods the best she could. They were different in name to the ones she knew from the coast, so far away. But otherwise they seemed very similar. She wondered often if they were really all the same gods, just called different things by different packs. Did every pack name them something different perhaps? She still slipped up sometimes and called them by more familiar names to her, but otherwise it was easy to figure out. Still the sacrifices though, which she disagreed with and had been thrown out a few times for. It didn't really help her case to refuse the sacrifices when they already thought she was a bad omen.

Her eyes closed again, drawing air deep into her lungs and then back down her maw. Slowly she raised herself to avoid bringing more attention than her morning grouchyness had already earned her. Lowering her head, she stretched, and then up and reaching forward, stretched again. The large white beast moved silently around them, passing the still slumbering wolves, Ophelia and the other omega who had both just entered in an... odd display, and then out into the sun. Again her dark gaze moved slowly over the wolves that remained in the camp, and then out at the woods beyond. And yet still further, through the trees, over the mountains and on and on. All the way back to the waves that were ever calling her home. A home that she could not return to. Even then she knew where the coast was. She could almost feel the distance between, where it was at all times, And how long it would take before she could reach it. She would not go forward, like she had often on first arriving, to the edge of their lands and farther. To be as close to it as she could get. No, she had to stay in sight. To not sneak off. The bad omen had to stay in clear sight at all times, lest her past hunt her right out of this new pack too.

Would life always be this precarious?

Ooc: eh, I tried. Haven't done this in a while, sorry.

folkvar 002 kesera 002

Postby unnamed » Thu Jun 14, 2018 1:24 pm

𝙵 𝙾 𝙻 𝙺 𝚅 𝙰 𝚁 ── † ── "i fear nothing but the God's judgement"
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
( shaman ) ( male ) ( six years ) ( tagged: open ) ( mentions: laurens )

Folkvar's head had raised slowly to peer at Lauren's approach only to offer a small, irritated growl as the other tugged on his ear. His tension seemed to roll off of him in waves the same way Lauren's authority did. Most of the pack was more concerned with the omen's meaning and the threat of it but the shaman had been troubled by a much deeper concern. His entire life he had never known a time without the Gods speaking to him. Even as a blind pup he could still recall seeing the white flash of fur he could only take to mean Skoll; as he'd grown older he learned to sense them in other ways. Eir came to him whenever the leaves changed, Vor led him dutifully whenever he chose to hunt, and in the few battles he'd faced it was Ragnarok that told him where to strike. Late at night he could feel their energy and early in the morning he could practically hear their howls. His life had never been silent, never void of their presence. Yet here he was and unfortunately for the already irate shaman Laurens was right, "It seems they have other things in plan for us. I can only assume they see their absence as a necessity."

Folkvar knew that often Laurens was bothered by his deep devotion to their protectors, the alpha was much more practical in terms of thought and had never felt the need to await a signal from a higher power. The two differed greatly in that aspect as Folkvar lived his life awaiting the Gods permission and guidance. Who could blame him though? He had been gifted something incredible and it was a daily reminder whenever another looked into the almost ghostly pair of blue eyes he possessed. At the other's suggestion Folkvar's ears stood dutifully on top of his head. Such a thing hadn't been attempted in oh, an odd five years or so. He was surprised Laurens even brought it up considering his own mother had been that attempt. At the time Folkvar had still been training under the previous shaman and the two were distant to say the least. It was a grave task and no easy undertaking. Besides, doing so opened a direct line of communication with Fenrir. Should the God dislike the sacrifice or use a trick he'd be even more dangerous. It was best to keep him weak, relying on mortal beings to do his biding. Folkvar's mouth had opened to speak only to be cut short when Laurens declared he was about to leave.

His mouth closed slowly as he watched the other male quickly retreat from the clearing. Silently he wondered what Laurens could possibly be doing. Now, in such a time of crisis and unknowing, when other pack members couldn't so much as leave the clearing without someone with them, was Laurens rushing off alone? Surely it meant he was up to no good. He had half a mind to go after the alpha and see what he was up to but good sense outweighed that. He'd been running low on herbs for quite some time now and with this omen it'd be best he stocked up while he could. Turning his attention away from where the other male had gone he stood slowly and veered South where the herbs were usually plentiful. As he neared the tree line he looked over his shoulder to Zuri before calling out, "Zuri, accompany me."

Though they spoke rarely - something not uncommon for the shaman - he valued her help greatly. She knew enough of the herbs that he didn't have to constantly direct her whenever he went looking. He could allow her to search on her own. Not to mention there were times when the shaman felt it best to make things occur from behind the scenes; to sway Lauren's choices without having to make an argument and she was good for helping him.

𝙺 𝙴 𝚂 𝙴 𝚁 𝙰 ── ♦ ── "my forgiveness is not my weakness"
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
( subordinate ) ( female ) ( four years ) ( tagged: isorro ) ( mentions: none )

She glanced behind her as a sudden gasp filled the still air, only to find it was Isorro who was looking rather panicked from being awoken, worry set within her as she quickly turned and rushed back to his side. She pressed her nose gently against his cheek before speaking softly, "Relax yourself, it's only me." Kesera hadn't meant to cause such fear to overcome him, perhaps he had been deep within the confines of a nightmare? As he began rolling over to pull himself up she took a step backwards to allow him more room. Isorro must have been lulled into a deeper sleep than she imagined. Apparently the two were opposites today. Normally it was the male who was up bright and early while Kesera often valued her sleeping in. What a strange time this pack was having.

When he had finally risen she turned and continued in her former direction. Her head turned as Isorro appeared suddenly beside her and his usual calm vibe replaced the fearful one. It brought a small smile to her face to see him back to normal. At his question of where they'd be going she suddenly realized she wasn't quite sure; Kesera hadn't a plan she just had a desire. "Well I suppose we'll find out when we get there," she mused softly. Watching as Isorro brought his full size into plain view she hid a chuckle at the sight, like a bird ruffling its feathers. Of course it was all for a good cause; the stronger they looked they better off they were when it came to avoiding any new threats. Not that her counterpart could ever hide his size, he was bigger than any average wolf male or female. Though, as she recalled, the pack did have some rather large males save for Laurens.

The further they got into the forest the denser the trees became until Kesera had to walk a bit in front. Though she stood at an average height the female wasn't small in any way. Her body was sturdy, a wolf who could bear pups as well as protect them from any danger and there weren't any she could think of that she could walk side by side with through these trees. Of course it had never bothered her, even in her younger and smaller years Kesera had never been much of a looker as some females were and prided themselves on. As she'd gotten older her stature had certainly not helped but it had made her a valuable member of the pack which she valued more than anything. Indeed the female was loyal to her pack, something which at times worried her especially with her growing affections towards Isorro: a wolf loyal to others, not a pack.

"Perhaps we'll venture off towards the mountains a bit, see if anythings trying to climb them," she mused. Of course, scaling those mountains was an impossible task but it'd allow her more time spent alone with her companion and that would certainly be something she treasured. Out here when they were alone was the only time she ever got to see the side of him that was softer, back with the pack his almost stoic nature took the spotlight. Kesera didn't mind that side of him either, after all it had been what made her speak to him in the first place when they'd gone on a patrol together. So many of this pack had loud personalities that you couldn't easily ignore. Isorro, though he certainly didn't lack personality, was the type like her who could fade into the background if they so desired, "What do you think? Where should we go?"

Thanatos' ears flicked at the sounds of everyone emerging from their sleep, the noise pulling himself from the darkness as well. The brute's amber orbs slowly opened and he inhaled deeply. He peeked around the den, realizing he was one of the last to wake. Thanatos stood, and padded outside to stretch in a bigger space that he felt he fit better in. The warm sun immediately started soaking into the wolf's thick ebony pelt, and he shook it out making the dirt that collected over night fall to the forest floor. His muscles rippled across his larger shoulders and back and Thanatos kicked out each back leg to further stretch. He yawned, his pearly whites glistening in the sun, before licking his maw. Deciding he was awake enough he padded along, carefully watching and waiting, he was looking for Laruens but the Alpha was gone. Thanatos was a bit bummed about it as he had no idea what to do, he had noticed that most of the other subordinate's of the pack were already out and about. Thanatos thought about the smaller alpha, nearly everyone was smaller than Thanatos. However, Laurens was a relatively small wolf in comparison to all.

With a sigh, the brute's amber orbs looked around once more, he rolled his eyes when they fell on Salem. But quickly moved along to Zuri. Though Thanatos felt the fae was slightly nervous in his presence, she never failed to make him look twice. Thanatos shook the thought from his mind and forced himself to think about the day's patrol, where he should go, should he take anyone, does he really want anyone to go with him, he paused, listening to Salem and Ophelia, but shrugged it off to go find some breakfast.

Nyx was startled from her peacefulness when a howl echoed from quite a distance. She sat straight up, out of her slumber, her pale, grey- amber orbs blinking quickly to adjust to the sunlight shining through the underbrush. She was so comfy, and with no other duties, decided to stay put for a while. She rolled herself over, into a more sunny spot of ground, she loved the feeling of the sun on her silver pelt. She lay there, wondering what pack life would be like, would she find a mate out here on her own? Unlikely, she answered her own question.

The gurgle in her stomach pulled her from her sheepish thoughts and she decided to get up to fetch something to eat. It had been roughly a day since her last meal and she decided that she would hunt until she was full. She couldn't keep living like this, not knowing when her next meal would be here. Nxy pointed her nose to the sky, scenting the air, feeling with way the breeze was coming from. She decided to head west, though that would be heading directly toward the resident pack's territory. She mentally shrugged, maybe now is the time to think about joining a pack. She was 3, had no medical training, was skilled in nearly every other aspect, and was always lonely and hated it. Nyx rolled her eyes at her thoughts once more, her ears turned back at the sound of leaves rustling. She froze, not wanting to spook whatever small creature lingered near, not realizing the danger she brought it. The rabbit darted out from the bush and Nyx leapt right behind it. The creature dove into its hole under a log and Nyx followed right after it, hardly getting a good grip she pulled it out from its home by its back leg and slammed it to the ground. She let it go, in hopes she could get a grip on its throat, but the little rodent took off. Nyx darted after it once again, this time around a bush before catching it and closing its windpipe. She howled in triumph, and cut it short, realizing she had just given up her location to anyone in the pack that might be looking for loners. With that she shrugged, and dug into her meal.

      ANUBIS !!
      ▸ male ▸ 6½ ▸ loner ▸ tag: open
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Deep within the forest of the Evergreens lie a cold-blooded killer, among other things. His orbs shone a rich yellow-gold against his licorice pelt. Which was now dirty, dull, and thinning out where scars healed. He was like a silhouette, a shadow, resting, watching. Waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Anubis had been planning something… against Laurens, mostly. Almost four years ago, the alpha of the pack won in a spar with Anubis, who challenged him for the rank. Ever since then, Anubis’ spite for Laurens grew and continued to do so. But Anubis wasn’t dumb; he knew exactly what Laurens wanted him to do - either leave or become a subordinate. Anubis would do neither. Not until Laurens was dead on the ground. Anubis felt he could easily overpower the alpha male now, his first attempt was years ago, when he was only about three years old. He would love to see the expression on poor old Laurens’ face when he saw Anubis - a now large and muscled brute riddled with scars on damn near every inch of his body - instead of a weak adolescent. They hadn’t seen each other for a while, despite Anubis often lurking around the camp. He was a hearse pelted brute, as dark as night, and under cover of the Evergreens, pines, and Aspens he blended in almost like he wasn’t there.
