blackfern ✦ she-cat ✦ twenty-seven moons ✦ warrior ✦ confused; distracted
xxxxblackfern trailed around the camp, wishing she had never woken up.
xxxxthe prophecy had haunted and bothered blackfern for who knew how long. nowadays, it was essentially the only thing she thought about. the preparation, the conclusion, the aftermath. although she kept telling herself that everything was alright, thornstar's going to lead us, no one's going to.. go, there was always something about it that kept nagging to her in her head.
xxxxslowly gaining more awareness, she was considering to go hunting again, when she found herself nearing the exit of the camp. instinctively, she headed into the forest, noticing the atmosphere getting darker and darker as she headed deeper and deeper into the territory outside the camp. noticing an intensely small thresh bird heading in the opposite direction, blackfern held her breath almost instantly. she slowly made her way to the bird, the small heels of her paws barely touching the ground. once she felt like she was close enough to the future prey, she readied herself to leap before forcing her weight back and leaping directly onto the ground that the bird stood on. hearing a small squeaking sound before she landed onto the ground, blackfern blinked and glanced below her. she stared at the prey that she had just caught and she grinned intensely. she quickly thanked starclan in her mind and got up before realising that the atmosphere around her was dead silent. her satisfied grin hastily morphing into a neutral expression, she carried the fresh-kill in her mouth. she headed back to camp quickly, finally reaching the camp entrance. heading towards the fresh-kill pile, she dropped the thresh bird onto the now small pile of meat.
xxxxpassing the other cats who also seemed to struggle to keep their eyes open, she shot glances at numerous cats, looking for ideas for things to do. thinking of entering the forest for the third time this day, she turned suddenly hungry, turning around and looking at the fresh-kill pile, instinctively knowing that she .. shouldn't, as she had already eaten and food was running low. peering around to observe whether any others were watching her, blackfern's eyes rested on the cat that was exiting camp. well, there was nothing unusual about that, as more warriors went out to hunt since the camp did slowly need more food, but the cat was abnormally.. small.
xxxxtoo small, in fact. as blackfern switched to various angles to observe the face of the cat, she finally found a position where she could clearly see the cat's face. blackfern stared in shock as the kit slithered past the numerous trees that surrounded the camp exit. charcoalkit was leaving the camp, getting deeper into the forest every second, and there was essentially nothing blackfern did about it.
