The dogs used to live happy lives with their humans in a small town
surrounded by forests. Everything was alright until one day, one
dog attacked their owner. Nobody knew what caused the aggression,
and the poor creature had to be put to sleep. Soon more and more
canines showed the same behaviour - rage and unstoppable will to
attack everything that moves. The vets finally found out that some
dangerous bacteria was causing all of this. They separated sick dogs
from healthy ones and attempted to find a cure. Though when humans
one by one began showing the symptoms of illness, nobody hesitated
to leave the town as fast as it was possible, leaving their pets behind.
Helpless, scared and lonely, the dogs have to deal with the illness on
their own, and also try to survive. There wasn't much food for them to
scavenge on, so their last hope was learning how to hunt and move to
the forest. But the forest isn't as peaceful and safe as it seemed to be
for them.
Can they make the dark, hostile and mysterious forest full of predators
their home?
Gun shots can be heard at night in a long distance.

The territory is at the same time the only area of the forest that the dogs
know is safe. Any ventures deeper into the forest are dangerous, but also
neccessary to find water or prey, because the pack's territory doesn't have
any water sources and doesn't provide enough food for all dogs. The dogs'
area is marked what keeps most smaller predators away, but creatures like
foxes, wolves or bears may be found near the territory borders. A river,
which is about 10 minutes from the territory, is the closest and only known
source of water not only for the pack, but also other animals. Wolf howls
come from this direction, so perhaps their territory is somewhere on the
other side of the river. On the opposite side, around 8 minutes from the
dogs' area there is the town. Dogs stay away from it, fearing the bacteria,
but some of them make trips there to either scavenge for food or check
whether humans aren't back to help them. Also, it's the only familar place
for the dogs, so they feel safer near their old home.

The camp is well-hidden, surrounded by thick bushes. A large den,
probably left by wolves some time ago, is where all dogs sleep together
to keep warmth and find shelter from rain. There is also an empty
fallen tree, which is a place to rest for sick dogs, so that they stay away
from healthy canines. There is a big, cracked rock where healers keep
their herbs. Food is buried or kept in a pile. The camp is big enough to
fit all pack members, but it's quite uncomfortable to sleep in the den
when all dogs are inside, so some of the members rest outside when it's
warm.

Huntings are led by the Trapper, number of hunters is based on what is
the prey planned to be. Huntings sometimes are directed to the town,
but only when there is no prey around. If the pack starves, the hunting
parties keep going until they find something, dogs with other ranks
also help.

𝔼𝕧𝕖𝕣𝕪𝕕𝕒𝕪 𝕝𝕚𝕗𝕖
Most of the time dogs stay on the territory or even in the camp only. Any
trip out of the territory is a risk, you never know what's there. Even on
the territory it's safer to travel with someone. Going to the town is
forbidden when it isn't neccessary. The dogs can be punished by being
sent to the town for three days. The bacteria is still there and without
humans there's a low amount of food. Other animals also come there
after humans' scents have vanished. Mostly bears, raccoons, foxes and
coyotes can be found in the town, searching through bins and buildings.
Some of them might be even sick.

𝕂𝕖𝕖𝕡𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕤𝕒𝕗𝕖𝕥𝕪
Guards and warriors are the ones in charge of the pack's safety. They keep
the area daily marked and make sure no other predators come nearby.
They are the fittest and strongest, so they are the ones who venture
deeper into the forest in search of a better camp, sources of water or
hunting territories. They can also extend the territory's size once they
make sure it's safe. Patrols are often led by the Paladin, once a day.

𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕚𝕝𝕝𝕟𝕖𝕤𝕤
Most of the dogs don't show any signs of sickness, but there is a possibility
that some of them carry the bacteria. That's why every dog that feels
dizzy, has a fever or lost appetite, needs to be sent to a healer. Then,
it's moved to a separated den and healers do their best to heal it or
at least soothe the symptoms and pain. Nobody's been cured so far,
but the healers can extend dog's lifetime and keep working on a cure.
Maybe one day the problem will be solved...

Riggs took a deep breath through his nostrils, tasting the air and checking on the scents. Their territory was recently marked and hopefully it will keep intruders away. Morning rays of sunlight made their way through the thick tree crowns, warming and brightening the forest. This was going to be a long day. The brute's paws rhythmically hit the underbush, cracking dried leaves. It was late summer, so some trees already began to lose their foliage. The later autumn comes the better for the canines. Ri enjoyed morning walks through the forest. He was aware it wasn't the same friendly and peaceful forest he remembered from times he were here with humans, but it was relaxing to just listen to the rustle of the leafage and songs of birds. It almost let him forget all that's happened. But only for a moment, then all the thoughts clouded his mind once again. His never-ending worries about the pack were tiring, sometimes didn't let him sleep at night, made him go out of the camp and check whether the area was safe. Whether nothing was watching them, waiting for their moment of inattention. And even though his suspicions were never right, and in fact there was nothing dangerous lurking around the corner, he couldn't get rid of the feeling. He sometimes felt helpless. Felt like he should give up his position in the pack and let someone else take charge of the situation. But he didn't want to disappoint his pack mates. His daughter. His friends. He wanted them to stay strong by seeing him being tough.

As soon as he arrived back to the camp, a gunshot dragged him out of his thoughts. The brute's ears perked and he immediately looked in the direction of the sound. It wasn't close, sounded like it came from a longer distance and echoed through the whole forest. Fur along his spine rose and he sniffed. But there was no smell of either blood nor chemical stench of a gun. He knew both very well, because of working with the police in the past. It was perhaps too far for him to smell it. But what was that? Were humans back? Apart from worry and fear, hope filled his body. They needed to check the town. They needed to see if humans came back for them.

Toronto woke up feeling dizzy and cold. She opened her eyes and blinked, her vision blurry. The fae was scared for a moment, but when her vision got better, she sighed in relief. She hoped it was nothing serious. It couldn't be. It will be okay. Everything will be okay. But Tori knew the pack rules. Every dog that didn't feel well should go to the healers immediately. And she wasn't going to hide her health problems. The golden retriever slowly rose up to her fours and on shaky legs left the den. She collapsed once, but quickly got up again, her eyes searching for Dalia, Lillette or Eden. "Dalia?" Asked Tori, tilting her head when she saw an australian shepherd. The fae sat on her haunches carefully, feeling that she could collapse again if she didn't rest.

Suddenly, Toronto heard the gunshot and her eyes looked around fearfully. She couldn't tell how far was it, it was so loud... Did others hear that or was it just in her head? The retriever glanced at other dogs to see their reactions.

gentle morning's light blinded the fae, her eyes grudgingly opening to greet the brand new day. almost immediately she stretched out her long, elegant bodice while her hind paw accidentally kicked a pack member in the process. "sorry!" she whined silently, pinning her large erect ears against her skull. she rose to her feet and gave her spotless pearl cloak a quick shake to rid herself of any excess dust. she slept nearest the mouth of the den therefore it was easy to simply leave without further disturbing any other members. she stood near one of many thick bushes that surrounded their camp, concealing them from the curious eyes of other predators. her tawny optics blinked slowly while a monstrous yawn revealed her ivory incisors. her whole mass wanted to be thrown against the earth to sleep more, albeit her somewhat responsible mind knew she held a duty to fulfill.

speaking of duty, there was toronto wandering the camp looking for dalia. but more importantly, she felt her tail begin to swish involuntarily at the sight of her father returning to camp. the moment before she was going to greet him she was instead met with a thunderous boom. this caused the young vixen to yelp out of fright and bolt straight for the alpha. lillette slammed into his side, instantly cowering beneath his chest with her belly pressed against the cool ground and tail tucked tightly between her legs. she had never heard the sound of a bullet being propelled into the open air. even with her short time living with humans never had such a terrifying noise pierced her sensitive auds. "what was that?" she inquired with a whimper, her crown courageously rising a bit once the forest had calmed to its usual serenity.

The snowy white female lay still on the spicky, dry floor. The withered leaves poked her skin and slightly irritated it, but the now half-asleep german shepherd was too drowsy to care. Her eyelids slowly opened, revealing the icey blue eyes which lazely looked around her surroundings. Her chest slowly raised and fell with every gentle breath, wishing she could stay like this for a few hours. However duty calls, and the pack wont feed itself. Deciding to lay for a couple more minutes, she sighed deeply, listening to the chirping of the birds and the gentle breeze which blew outside. However her serenity was interupted by a distant gun-shot, echoeing around the forest. Her head quickly shot up, looking around the place in surprise. It sounded far away, but what was far way could easily find them. Quicker than they expected. Without wasting a minute, she briskly got up and looked outside her den. The leader was already up, his daughter whimpering in fear between his legs. Obviously caught off-guard by the gun shot. Her fur was still covered in some leaves and dust, but that was the least of Freyja's concerns. She looked at her leader with a puzzled expression, expecting some sort of order or comment on the gun. Where humans coming back? That's good, wasn't it? Though the gunshot was quite intimidating, perhaps they would spare those who are still healthy?
