The lion pride of Okavango Delta has lost
their king. A pair of brothers suddenly
attacked him as he slept and while the rest
of the pride tried to fend them off and
help their king, it was too late. The two
brothers quickly took hold of the pride,
one being more in charge than the other,
killing cubs that were born from Chausiku
but, in an act of surprising kindness,
spared older adolescents that were his cubs.
The brothers rule the pride with iron
claws but the Queen, who fled with her
cubs afraid for their lives, wants
her pride back.

The Queen had to flee from the lands that
she was born in, where her cubs, family,
friends were born. Where she learned how
to hunt and survive. She is truly and
utterly devastated by these new kings.
Cursing their names and the land they
walk on. But, she has hope, the few
that followed her when she left along
with her cubs fill her with hope that
she might regain the land that is theirs.
She wants her pride back, figuratively
and literally, and no new king will stop
the Queen when she wants something.
She's made that perfectly clear.

I want this rp to be realistic, saying that, most of the lions in this rp will be related.
The new kings are brothers but other than that not related to the other pride members. Most
characters will be siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, ect. with each other. We can discuss exactly
how they're related before the rp starts. The Adviser in the Okavango pride is like a healer/
helps the kings and sometimes even takes over. Adolescents are lions under two years of age
and older than nine months that are still training (like an apprentice/trainee).

XXXXXThe time was now. If she didn’t strike soon her prey would run away back to her mother. Uzoma gingerly placed each paw in front of her, crouched, wiggled her tail, then pounced onto Udara. She heard her sister squeak before starting to fight back and like that the two cubs were rolling across the ground in a play fight. They broke apart suddenly, squaring off, Uzoma keeping her sister’s eyes locked with her own. Before they could spare again, their mother approached; loving laughter followed her. “Aren’t you two getting a bit old for cub games,” Abeni joked as she curled her tail around both of her daughters, “I still can’t believe that your ceremony is tomorrow, I’m so proud.”
XXXXXUzoma beamed at her mother’s praise. She looked over at Udara, the same look on her darling sister’s face. “I’m gonna catch a warthog on my first trip out! I’ve been practicing my hunting,” Uzoma pronounced proudly. She tried to swat at Udara again but the other ducked and said, “You’d be lucky if you caught a cold!” The pair looked as if they were going to jump into another play fight so Abeni stepped in. “I didn’t come here to sing my praise and watch my girls wrestle,” she started, “Uzoma, Udara, you two are the future of the Okavango Pride and with it will come many challenges. You will meet wandering lions that can and will ruin you. But, you will also make good friends and, hopefully, find love. My only hope for you is that you will grow to be good and make the right decisions.”

XXXXXThe attack was not as sudden as the rumors on the plains lead it out to be. The brothers, Cetshwayo and Vatani, had been seen wandering on the outskirts of their territory for a while before. Chausiku gave them warnings; a tussle here and there but it didn’t scare them. The king of the Okavango Pride was old and had many cubs, they had been told, too old to be a king anymore. The pair would wait for the perfect time to strike. That time would come during a peaceful sunset, a few hours after a decent kill - a zebra - and the pride was mostly asleep with full bellies. At the time, Uzoma was not near the pride as she and a few other lionesses had to deal with a pack of hyenas that threatened their kill and cubs. The alarm from the nearby Baboon troop caught in their ears long before they realized what had happened.
XXXXXAs the group swarmed to where they could hear distant roaring, the scent of blood hit their noses. Uzoma recoiled from the vile smell while she overlooked the scene. Chausiku was already dead. It was what the Baboons screamed from their perches. It was at that moment that Uzoma decided to leave the Okavango Pride, if she stayed with her cubs they were doomed. She quickly found Natasha and Jelani, scared but alive, and went to find her sister. Uzoma searched for Udara but couldn’t find where she had gone yet along the way other lionesses followed her out. They fled from their home.

XXXXXNow, Uzoma woke with the sun. The sound of morning rang in her ears and her belly rumbled with hunger. It was unusual for her to sleep at night but she must have passed out at some point. Her faction never stays in one place, they travel around the border like nomads searching for food and water. Last night they had found a ring of large boulders to shelter them, it almost seemed like a cave. She stretched her legs before sitting up, the day ahead was unknown but they must send a hunting party out soon or else her faction would starve. She’d send one or two out as scouts to find prey and report back. Uzoma heaved herself onto a nearby boulder and roared, “Members of my Royal Faction, we must discuss what to do next!” she started, “First, I need a pair to search for prey, would anyone volunteer?”

xxxxOh, how lucky Kali was that she was spared by the brother's strange mercy.

xxxxThe young adult remembered the day well - the day that a new era dawned upon her home and pride. Chausiku's tragic fall occurred three months ago, and yet Kali recalled every detail of it. She remembered lounging underneath the shade of some tree with her fellow pride members, her belly uncomfortably swollen after a meal of zebra. Some of the other pride members were absent; they had gone off to patrol the border after some reports of hyena spotting. The very mention of hyenas caused a shiver to run down Kali's spine; the lioness knew so well how cold and ruthless those doggish creatures were. She herself had a close up encounter with one of those hunch-backed pack animals as a cub - luckily, her mother had come in and saved the day, chasing the hyena away with a fearsome snarl and brave chase.

xxxxKali had just begun to drift off into sleep when a nearby baboon troop commenced their screaming and whooping. That was never a good sign in the savanna, for the baboon troops served as a warning alarm to nearly every creature around. Alarmed, Kali scrambled to her paws and whipped her head around. 'Blood, I smell blood,' she had thought to herself as soon as a slight breeze ruffled her short golden fur. By this time, the other sleeping lions and woken to similar confusion and looked around. By the time the confusion had faded, it was too late; their king, her father, was dead. When she had spotted the brother's large silhouettes in the distance, she slipped through her pride members and followed the former queen, Uzoma, away from the pride.

xxxxTruthfully, Kali's reason for leaving the pride wasn't all for righteousness. Her whole life, the young lioness watched the horizon with a sort of longing. Surely there had to be something past their territory? More land, more food, more lions? More of everything! She wanted to know so badly, but she was confined to the Okavango's territory. With Uzoma's leaving, Kali figured that it meant more adventuring and exploring the outside world. It just so happened that her belief aligned with the Queen's.

xxxxThe savanna's harsh golden rays shined brightly upon the lion's pelt as it rose past the flat horizon. Kali made a small noise of resistance as she curled into a tighter ball, hoping to just ignore the sun and catch some more sleep. Last night, she and the rest of their ragtag team had gone on a long search for food and water. Luckily, they were able to locate a small water hole, but were unable to find any food. After some unsuccessful chases here and there, they had decided to call it night. And man was Kali starving. "Members of my Royal Faction, we must discuss what to do next!" Uzoma's loud roar disrupted Kali's rather hard-earned sleep. With a groan, the adolescent rolled onto her paws and slowly rose to her feet.

xxxx"I'll go," she volunteered with a flick of her tail. Nothing would be more beneficial right now than a good stretch of her legs.

soleil believed she could make a difference. she believed in uzoma and her purpose, that's why it wasn't so hard to leave. that and the fact she couldn't stand to live under the rules of cetshwayo and vatani. they were monsters that needed to be dealt with. so she would offer all the help she could. when the brothers murdered chausiku, soleil thought there was nothing left to fight for. but she was wrong. there was a bigger goal they had to reach, claiming their pride back. and that would only be achieved by hard work. training and practicing. some lions may think hope is the answer, but soleil thought otherwise. they need to abandon hope to survive. if they depend on hope, nothing will get done, and no one had practiced anything by the end of the day because they were all hoping they'd magically learn something. they needed determination.

the sun felt good on her back, although the hot ground burned her paw pads. and it would get hotter as the day went on. uzoma addressed her followers and asked for volunteers to go hunting. kali had already offered to go. maybe i should go too. soleil thought. they definitely needed the prey, it wasn't exactly easy living without a pride. but in someways the queen's little group was like a small pride. "if it's okay, i'll go too."

soleil was already standing up, and walked over to kali. "morning."
