- night had always been the gamma's favorite time of day; she could escape into the serenity of dreams, where anything at all was possible. and if she couldn't sleep, due to her mind still reeling from the days events, or the future's worries and woes, she could lay out under the moonlight and watch the stars as they glittered across the sky. the nights were always filled with one of these two choices; she rarely had nightmares, luckily enough, so she either slept peacefully or not at all. the previous night had been the former; she had slept like a pup, sound and content, although she had gone to bed later than the rest of her packmates. that was one thing about him, an old habit she just couldn't seem to let go of; it was the way her father was, waiting up to make sure everyone else was safe and accounted for before heading to slumber himself. she had watched him do it for awhile before joining him one night, and it became their routine, until he passed away. and she couldn't find it in herself to break it. it was the last bit of her dear father that she kept alive in her memory; he had died of natural causes, nothing tragic, but he had been important to her as she grew.
she was awoken that morning with a slight wince, feeling a ray of sunlight hitting just onto her face at the right angle, just perfect enough to bother her eyes. blinking a few times to adjust to the light, she pulled herself up onto her feet, noticing that the delta was no longer in the den that the pair shared. she assumed that she had overslept a bit, although if she were to have gone too late she was sure someone would have waken her. pulling herself up onto her paws, she leaned forward, stretching out her back and rolling her shoulders, trying to warm up her muscles. shaking out the dirt and twigs that littered her dark fur, she slipped out of the opening at the front of the tree den that she called home, wandering out into the camp clearing. she spotted several groups of wolves up and about already, many conversing with one another, but her eyes were locked on the alpha, who also happened to be one of her closest friends. they had grown close since the death of his mate, who had coincidentally been her best friend growing up. approaching, she nodded a hello to the other wolves around the black brute, but her eyes looked at no one but him as she bowed her head lightly. "amoux, good morning. do you have the hunting and border parties prepared? i'm up for any task you set upon me, alpha, as i'm sure my warriors and hunters are as well."
