oh how she had stayed up a bit late the night previous. she had sat over her dear apprentice who was being plagued with bad dreams the last few nights, grooming her until she fell into a much more peaceful slumber. it had taken a few attempts, for she had woken back up in a start, but after a time she managed to get the young molly to sleep. she had returned to her own den to find her fellow queen already asleep, which made sense. it was already the wee hours of the morning, but it was fine. she had curled up in her little corner, and managed to drift off into a dreamless sleep for the remaining hours of the night. or at least, it was relatively dreamless, aside from one single dream she had right before waking up. it was a memory... the day the tornado struck, it was the worst day of her young life so far, but it was supposed to be the best. she had just left the medicine cat, finding out she was pregnant, and she had sought her mate to tell him they were expecting. but as she sought after him, the tornado hit, and as she ran through the forest, yowling for him, she stumbled across his body, lying broken in the mud...
she ended up waking up that morning with a ray of sunlight hitting her directly in the face, her chest rising and falling quite rapidly, in accordance of her dream being just a bit stressful. she looked around, spotting the other queen, and made herself settle into the present; she was not back there. this was not the old camp, the tornado was gone. she let out a deep sigh of relief, looking down at her belly. she wasn't very far along yet, maybe half way through her pregnancy, so she had a small belly. she wondered how many kits she would have and what they would look like; she wished she could know ahead of time; she hoped one of them looked like her old mate, so she could honor him...
looking up as she heard gentle pawsteps approaching, she spotted her deputy entering the nursery with a fish. oh my gosh... she couldn't think of the last time she had a fish. but they were so difficult to hunt for here, since the stream was so strong and the waterfall was so daunting. she listened to the words the molly spoke before exiting the nursery. shaking her head lightly, she smiled. she hadn't even gotten to say thank you before the molly had slipped out. typical moonsong, being humble and not wanting attention on herself. looking over at the other queen, she let out a soft yawn before speaking. "do you prefer having the head or the tail? i hope she allows me to train cherrypaw today; moonsong seems to be getting a bit weary of me training my apprentice, the further along my pregnancy goes. "

the molly was well known for her difficulty sleeping; she often could be found doing late light patrols of the lands, wandering and exploring farther than they typically went. when they had still been traveling, she did not at all sleep. she made sure all of her warriors got their rest, and kept watch over her clan by herself. whether that be by climbing up a nearby tree and watching over them from above, or wandering around the sleeping cats in a wide circle. now, she used to sleep well, but ever since the tornado, every time she closed her eyes she was plagued by nightmares; memories of that horrible storm. all of the yowls, the blood... now, every time that the rain begins, every time that thunder cracks or lightning streaks, the molly can be seen quivering lightly. not many notice it, but if any of her clan cats look closely enough, they would be able to notice her jumpiness during those moments. she had, however, managed to get maybe two hours of sleep that night before being awoken by her own restless mind. she had begun her typical wanderings, ears perked and alert as always.
she ended up going to the east of the camp, and, upon hearing the roaring of the river nearby, she decided to go and get a sip. approaching the fast-paced water, she bent down her head, her tongue coming out to quickly lap out a bit of the water, the cool liquid smoothly gliding down her throat. licking the remaining liquid from her muzzle, she slipped up onto a small rock, leaping from one stone to another until she was about halfway out into the river, a dangerous feat that she wouldn't allow many of her clan to achieve. she wanted the queens to wake up to food, and she knew how much some of her clan missed eating fish. but it was so dangerous, the current was so strong, that moonsong didn't like many of her clan members to try and accomplish. she saw fish quickly swimming beneath her, and with her keen eyes she watched, waiting for the perfect moment. in a flash, her paw struck down, claws digging into a rather large fish, which she flung towards the shoreline. she took her time, hopping from rock to rock to get back to the shore, and was quite pleased. the fish was large enough to feed both queens.
taking the fish in her mouth, she began to jog back towards the camp, noticing the sun had begun to rise, and so her clan should be waking up around that time. entering the camp, her keen eyes scanned around, her ears swiveling as she heard cats beginning to stir in their dens. approaching the nursery, she set the fish down just inside the den, letting out a soft meow to gain the queens attention. "good morning ladies. i wanted you to wake up with something to eat, and so i managed to catch you a fish to eat. please enjoy; i'll be calling a meeting soon but feel free to just sit outside the den. no need to approach all the way to my high root." she spoke to them with a kind voice before exiting the den, heading back towards her den, which was dug underneath some thick roots. climbing up onto one of them, which was the highest in the clan, and was her 'high root', the place she called her meetings. for now, she simply lay down on the root, dangling over the edge. ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓
