"Me!?" Akeila replied, nervous had been an understatement. The fae rose to her paws, tail in a soft wag as she turned her back on her brother and face Edon, the more she avoided his gaze the better. "Certainly not!" she laughed shaking her head. "He is such a worry-wart!" she laughed shaking her head before sitting back down. "Exactly... what were you referring to about me not telling him?" she had paused and thought for a moment. It could have been anything. The fact she had a torn muscle or nerve pinch, something uncertain but it had definitely bothered her. Edon could also be referring to the fact this would be Akeila's first time going out without a mentor for a hunt... certainly unsettling news to her brother and not telling him would only spell disaster for his nerves. Maybe it could even be the fact she had woken up extremely late... or did Edon catch her eyeing a brute earlier? I was just looking... I hope no-wolf thinks it's serious, she thought to herself on a side note. Wrapping her taila round her paws once more as she tried to contain her excitement, the young she wolf blinked softly as she waited for the reply.

A she-wolf paced up and down the guard's side of the cavern, trying her best to stop any noise from
coming with her frustrated trot and attempting not to wake anybody. Not that she cared if she woke
anyone, she just didn't feel like getting into an argument right at this moment. Her ears twitched
from the returning anger she felt as she woke up earlier than every other wolf in the pack due to
her 'internal clock' waking her up due to her having the same early morning shift for a while, until
now, when her shift had been changed to allot later in the day. She suppressed a growl from inside
her strong muzzle, trying to avoid awakening any other wolves; most of them were awake, or
awakening at this time, after all, it seemed like the sun would have risen by now. Unable to
stop herself, her jaws stretched into a long, and loud yawn, all her teeth showing as her mouth
opened so terribly wide. Scanning the cavern awkwardly, she sat down in the place of which she
had stopped pacing to let out her yawn. Her haunches folding beneath her, she gazed around
through the narrow, pale amber eyes of which she possessed. Quickly, she flicked her great,
dark furred head over her shoulder, trying to detect what could have created a strange
noise that had made it's way to her ears, but alas, she was greeted by nothing. Just a
blank cavern wall staring strait back at her. Bored by the unsurprising scene of which
she had suspected would fall affront of her eyes, and did, she lifted a back leg to
scratch behind her left ear; as she scratched, she forced her right eye open to
peer over the cavern again: their Alpha, Maverik; the Delta, Harlequin; Nanook,
the Healer Trainee; the Beta, Hekate; and some of the Hunters and Guards were awaking
in the cavern, from what she could see. Frustrated, she pawed at the ground a little,
hoping that she would notice her shift had started, or just hoping that even anything
slightly better than what was happening right now could happen.

Edon
Female - Hunter - 3 Years - Tags: Akeila

Edon let out a hearty laugh. She hadn't laughed in a long while, and Edon quite missed it. Instead of answering what she knew, she simply winked at the female. "It's okay, I won't tell."Edon laughed again, gently nudging Akeila in a playful manner, but still catious enough not to hurt her. Edon had in fact caught Akeila eyeing one of the males earlier, but quickly dismissed it as her just being young and spunky.
"Are you excited for the hunt? It's been a while since so many pack members have gone out to hunt. Even high-rankings are coming!"Excitement was laced into Edon's normally calm and even voice. She felt as though she were a bear finally awaking from hibernation. The female's eyes closed as she lifted her snout to the air, taking a deep breath in. She missed everything about the spring time, unable to help herself.

The old leader filled with pride as his pack gathered & volunteered for a hunt. Maverick turned his broad head to spot his Beta & his lead huntress. "Hakate, Aditya" His firm, husky voice rang out across the cavern, echoing in the distance. The brute pulled himself to his large paws, giving his brittle coat a good shake. As he relaxed the greying fur on Mavericks spine slowly lay flat against his back. The brute padded over to his two high-ranking fae's and and gave a nod of respect. "Aditya, I'd like you to lead the hunt today. I will be staying behind, seeing as most of the pack wants to join this hunt. Hekate, if you don't mind, I'd like you to lead a second hunt. You'll both have a fair sized group to work with & I think it would be beneficial to cover more ground". Mavericks rust coloured eyes flickered between the two fae's as he examined each one closely. He knew they may have wanted to conduct a single large hunt, but he knew covering the most amount of territory would heighten their chances of finding an elk. The brute lowered his voice as he continued "Please remember how weak the pack is. They may be excited, but our healers den is not fully stocked & these wolves are weak. If you find an elk, pick the weakest". These were hard words to say as the alpha turned his jet black head away from Hekate & Aditya. The pack had never chased a sick elk. Now, however, it was the smarter choice until the pack could grow. "I will keep an eye on camp. I trust you'll both do a wonderful job. Go pick your groups, split the actual Hunters amungst yourselves". Maverick sat as he spoke, stretching the back of his ear with his hind leg, the force of the kicks wobbling his head from side to side. The alpha didn't want to appear as nervous as he was.

Harlequin padded past Aphrodite to join the group awaiting the hunt. The fae's unique coat stood out amongst the others, as most of the pack carried jet black fur. This wasn't surprising considering the area. The Delta female sat on her haunches, a blank stare on her small face as she looked out to the outside world. The forest seemed eerie somehow, without its usual blanket of pure white snow. The ground now covered with dirty slush & hard ice combined with the bare trees cave the forest a dead look. The fae's pale green eyes flickered with a look of distaste. Something felt wrong.

Nanook spun around as he heard the sound of his mentors voice. "Muanu!" The pup quickly padded over to his elder, excitedly wiggling himself to his haunches. The stub he carried for a tail wiggled in excitement. The healer had obviously been busy, but Nanook didn't care. "You found some supplies... Muanu the den is almost empty. It's not looking good". The pups excited face turned dark as reality set in. This wasn't good. They had never run this low. Most of the herbs would have died with the harsh winter.

Bagueer's neck was stiff as he turned to acknowledge his Beta. Bones creaked, muscles screamed. The Guard was getting much too old for his job. He'd been due to retire this year, but the thought of being an elder turned the brute sour. "Thank you, Hakate". The grey wolf dipped his head low, fighting the pain & stiffness he felt. The thought of curing up into the guard's den was almost enough to brighten the old brutes pale brown eyes. Just as Bagueer pulled his body to his paws, a sharp gust of winter air howled by the cavern entrance. The wind carried the resting snow, creating a whirl of white. Nothing was visible for a few long moment. Just as fast as the gust began, it disappeared. Was that... grass?.

Aphelion || Guard || Location;; Main cave || Tags;; Orestes

With a toss of his head, Aphelion regains his usual proud stance. Head held high, shoulders back, he positively radiates self-confidence. But he's always careful to watch himself, to keep from giving off any impression that he thinks more highly of himself than a wolf of his rank ought to. "Just playing it safe," he drawls. "Everyone's hungry, and I find tempers to be running shorter than usual as of late." In spite of his words, his appreciation for the guard-captain's relaxed nature is still clear, for there's a faint undercurrent of gratitude beneath the words. But he moves on soon enough. "I don't want to get my hopes up too high if this all turns out to be nothing. But it's so very tempting. Spring is in the air, or some such nonsense." He falls quiet for a time, as his ears pivot to listen to the group of hunters gathering by the entrance. "Feels like years since we've had a proper hunt, he quietly muses, voice low as though he were talking to himself more than the other guard. Though Aphelion's voice is deep, it's quite soft and smooth for that of a male, lending itself to a calm, collected feeling he often carries about him. But now that voice is tinged with excitement, and he shifts slightly on his feet, clearly restless. Another glance is shot Orestes' way as he asks, "Will we guards be needed to help out? Everyone is weaker now- they may need all the wolves they can get." A bit of a grin slides onto his face, baring long white teeth, as he adds: "And I'm sick of being cooped up in this cave."

Jynx

Loner/ Open

Jynx slowed down finally as her temporary home came into sight mouth still full of rabbit. She wasted no time slipping her shivering body inside only to circle then plop down. Her golden eyes roamed over her prey hungrily for only a moment before tucking in. Her sides heaved with how fast she was eating, but one did not waste time in Winter. Anything could come for your meal, and chase you off. She could not risk losing this catch after being without for so long. Maybe it was because she was so hungry she didn't even notice the figure stalking her way head low until it was almost at the entrance. A slow growl rose through the air from it making Jynx look up a answering growl coming from her lips without even thinking. She blinked at the coyote that stood before her it's bead like eyes zoned in on her as it gave it's muzzle a swipe with its tongue. Normally a coyote wouldn't be so bold, but the season made everything do uncharacteristic things. It didn't help that being so small she was about its size so lacked that threatening demeanor. Fight or flight. Well since there was no other way out she didn't have much choice did she? Jynx pulled back her lips revealing her canines to which she snapped at the coyote in warning. The coyote only answered by taking a step forward it's pelt bristling. She wasted no time, and lunged at it colliding with its body to send them both rolling. Snaps, snarls, and even blood could be heard or smelled in the air. When they broke apart again Jynx was panting claw marks down her sides, but the coyote..its essence was pouring out on the snow. It turned running tail tucked, but she simply padded back to her den. The rabbit was soon gone, and her belly wasn't so sunken in anymore. She winced as she lowered herself to the ground in her den a yawn escaping her.

Just as Muanu was about to recieve a reply from one of the guards, something had caught their attention and they left without a word, the healer wasn't too surprised, they had better things to do than chat, so he picked up the herbs he left on the ground and made his way inside the camp. The brute paused slightly as he heard a male voice call out his name, he smirked slightly when he recognised the pawsteps behind him. Muanu didn't stop until they made it back to the healer's den where he placed the herbs, moss and assorted seeds he had found on his last run.

"Ah, goodmorning Nanook, you sleep in this morning?" he asked him, half ignoring his question while he sorted things out. Nosing a small pile he had earlier dropped in front of the entrance towards his apprentice, he hoped he would help him sort through things. "An empty den? Well that's wonderful news-" the brute chuckled, sorting yet another pile from earlier. "An empty den means no colds, no injuries, and plenty of space to find fresh supplies," the brute winked, hoping to introduce a more optomistic approach to the apprentice's thought process.

As a healer, somehting he always learned was to stay positive, sure they had been low on supplies but the fact that he found anything at all was good news and an empty healers den was even better as it meant nothing happened while he was out. "Nanook, have you eaten yet? We should probably try to do one more run before half the pack is gone on that hunt," he commented, his dull grey and blue eyes curious as he looked over his shoulder at the pup.

Akeila swallowed hard, Everyone and their grandwolf knows it's my first hut, she thought to herself, a meek smile as her tail uncovered her paws and wagged behind her. The nervousness seemed to leave her though as Edon nudged her playfully, perhaps it wouldn't be so bad. After all they hunted small things allone but if they went to take something big down, they would do it together. She couldn't much fail no matter how hard she thought about it and perhaps her skill in hunting would get her noticed by a male- good or bad she didn't know.

"Yes, very excited!" she barked with a nodd. Akeila could hardly stand the wait, she wanted to burst through the camp's entrance and take off after the first thing she saw, but she knew she had to wait for the alumni hunters call to move out. "No kidding! That's incredible!... A-and a little nerve wracking too," she gushed, but quickly she felt herself get a little quiet near the end- her nerves were no secret. Quickly, the young creme colored wolf looked arond the camp grounds looking for something to distract herself.

"Say Edon, you think spring will actually come this year?" she asked, unsure of how things worked completely. It had seemed like winter never left, but she was excited to see the grass again, she knew it wouldn't be today or even next moon but spring was typically the time when all of the excitement happened. Overnight hunts, finding love, having pups, all of it was just a few strides away, but that was only if mother earth decided to let them have it.

Edon
Female - Hunter - 3 Years - Tags: Akeila

Edon smiled faintly at Akeila. "You're making me feel old. Of course spring will come. . . Just think of the tall grass, blooming flowers, new life. Possibly even in this pack."Edon gave a sly wink to Akeila. She was doing her best to ease the younger wolfs nerves, because not too long ago she was where Akeila was. She wanted to be noticed and appreciated. "You'll do fine on this hunt. I have a good feeling about this."
Edon's jaws opened as she let out a yawn. Sleep was something she hadn't managed to tackle in a few days, the tiredness finally cracking down on her. Edon wasn't hard to spot in a clearing like this; snow everywhere and not much growth to hide behind. She was more of a night wolf, her raven-like black fur making it easy to blend in with the dark. She would be good if ever taken out for a night hunt. It was either her patience dwindling or her excitement building, but Edon stood and began to pace. Her mind was on spring and the pack, among other things. Despite if she wouldn't admit it, she was somewhat nervous just like Akeila. However, not for the hunt. Edon was nervous if things would go well, or if possibly she would find a mate this coming spring.
Although, she was glad. Edon wasn't much of a social wolf, mostly because she was afraid she would say something someone wouldn't like. It had happened before in her old pack, which was apart of the reason why she had left that pack. She was feeling a bit more homely, thanks to Akeila.

orestes nearly gave a wolfish grin of amusement as aphelion regained his characteristic, proud stance. still not minding the gesture, the lead guard yawned, off-white canines gleaming dimly in the faint glow of the morning clouds, his attention averting itself back to the fellow guard as he spoke. "...understandable that the tempers only seem to get colder with the winter." he paused. "thankfully that seems to be easing up. the pack seems much more relieved than usual." orestes offered, his tone hopeful. silencing for aphelion to speak, he nodded in agreement. "indeed. i can already scent the sprouts beneath the snow, but that might simply be a part of the cycle this season." he sighed. "we can only hope, i suppose." he added briefly before grinning at the glance and the question the other male offered. "hey, maybe we might just have to catch up with everyone. if we can even keep up, that is." orestes joked. "i honestly couldn't agree more. we've been stuck in camp getting snowed on. perhaps they would appreciate the help." he replied, more than happy to return aphelion's impish tone.

Hekate shook out her dark pelt, her fur ruffling slightly as she turned her head to the massive brute beside her. Her tail swayed slightly, ears flickering towards the lead hunter. She could feel the excitement rippling through her stomach, a promise of food aching in her mind. She blinked cautiously, shaking out her as a flurry of light snow flickered away from her paws. “Yes, sir.” She remarked, dipping her head, but a smile spread across her maw. In the way she often did to show the leader respect, she moved forward and touched her nose to his shoulder before flipping back towards Aditya. “Seeing as you are lead hunter, who would you like join mine?” she asked, offering the hunter a level of respect she often did for the wolves she helped lead, for it was respect that kept the pack together. The joyful feeling rippled through her fur as a breeze rippled through the air. She could smell the promise of spring, yet the snow still tainted the air. Had the cold seeped into her veins so much that the feeling of winter still strangled her? She blinked, her ears momentarily flattening before she returned her thoughts to the promise of a hunt.

Talia shifted on her paws, her eyes staring intently at the forest around her. The promise of spring had set excitement burning in her veins but how could the excitement remain when the thought of another failed hunt loomed like a shadow in her mind. She turned her gaze towards the Brute beside her. “I hope that it is more successful than the recent ones. We cant afford such pointless losses of energy, not with the promise of spring on the wind” she remarked, her ears flickering forward. She could feel the cold still seeping into her bones, her hackles raising, fur expanding in an attempts to remain warm, comfortable, but that feeling had passed with the never ending winter.
