- Though his paws had carried him here, Quinlan was not quite sure why, exactly, he had chosen to visit the Caves. In a way they still called to him; the complex labyrinth, hidden in the kind of complete darkness that can only be found underground, scared and thrilled him simultaneously. When his pack first settled in the territory, he had been one of the first to enter them, and he often explored them in his free time with his friend Cal, each time going a little further in. But Quinn hadn't been in the caves in a long time, over a year now. Not since a rockfall had buried Cal beneath the earth, trapping him beneath tons of soil and rock. The thought made Quinlan frown, and he quickly looked away from the black mouth of the Caves. Wanting to distract himself, he gazed up at the sky to judge the weather. The sky seemed fairly clear but he could smell rain on the air and he guessed that there would be a shower before the day was done.
It had been extremely unpredictable as late; only two weeks ago a storm had sprung up seemingly out of nowhere and the whole pack had been caught by surprise. There'd been no successful hunts for almost a week beforehand and their store of prey was already almost totally depleted before the storm even began. It had lasted three wretched days, with a constant downpour of rain and forceful winds, preventing anyone from going out to hunt. By the third day, Quinn had been just about ready to go out anyway and find what prey he could to sustain his starving pack, but by late afternoon the storm had passed and luckily they had been able to catch enough prey to keep them going. He was extremely wary of letting himself be caught off guard like that again. If the storm had lasted a day longer, they might very well have been too weak to go out and hunt or even ask for help from the Folium wolves.
He'd sent Kauri and Adelheide out just after dawn to hunt since he knew their stocks were getting low and he was loathe to come anywhere close to risking starvation so soon after their last incident. Despite having lead his pack for years now, he still made mistakes, and not keeping the prey pile well-stocked had been one of them. He would not make that mistake again.

- It was already almost midday, and Aaron wasn't quite sure what to do with himself. He'd already given Kodeas and Reika the task of checking the border by the Road an hour or two ago, but there didn't seem to be much else that needed handling. The Road hadn't been checked in almost a week now, and Aaron felt it was necessary to make sure no predators or loners had ventured into the territory recently; it was always good to have a heads up if there was a hostile individual skulking around. He was utterly confident that they wouldn't find anything though, other than some old roadkill. But... it never hurt to check.
Aaron examined his surroundings. The Folium camp was a maze of dens, some belonging to only one wolf and some shared between three or four. Friends and mates often chose to sleep in the same den for the sake of safety and warmth, though he knew others preferred to sleep alone and as such made their own dens. Usually all the den mothers slept together, and the same went for trainees. But others were welcome to sleep with whomever they chose. Only a few of his packmates had stirred so far and he guessed others were already out exploring or hunting as they wished, so it was still fairly quiet.
The light male cast a thoughtful look at Elanna's den. He wondered briefly if she'd been keeping her herb stock up, and whether anything had been damaged during the recent storm. The excess rain would no doubt have damaged some of the plant plantches she probably frequented to gather herbs. He resolved to ask her about it when he next saw her. For now, he was happy to wait in the warm sunlight for Reika and Kodeas to come back.
