the lanky tom stood on his paws as his nose twitched, the smell of something caught his attention as the wind changed direction for a moment. his tail flicked at his back legs, his head turned swiftly towards the scent, his ears folded back and his gut twisted with worry. "timbertail.. did you catch that scent?" he meowed his blazing orange eyes looking out into the forest with high alertness. the wind changed once more pushing back against his fur as the strong scent hit his nose once more, he opened his maw drawing in the scent. his eyes opened wide and he turned to timbertail quickly, "It's blood.. I smell blood.." his heart was starting to race, what happened.

the young tabby perked her ears realizing she must have inturpted something, she looked to Alderstar and dipped her head respectfully. "terribly sorry, I seemed to have interrupted you robinfoot and.. a-alderstar." his name caught in her throat unexpectedly, her fur flushed quickly with heat. the molly slowly breathed in then looked up at the two sitting down and curling her tail over her paws. "please finish what you two were speaking about my question can wait." she meowed her eyes shining with embarrassment though she tried her best to play it off.

the bulky tom padded over to the newly named deputy, "congratulations rowanflame, alderstar could not have chosen better." the white and black patched tom flicking his tail behind him, his eyes looking at the deputy squarely. "is there anything I could do for this morning patrols?" he asked as he didn't want to be stuck in camp for much longer, his paws itched to get out of camp and do something.

things seemed to be looking up a little higher for cedarclan, now that they had gained their strength that came with having full leadership established within the clan. robinfoot couldn't deny the fact that the position of deputy sounded somewhat intriguing despite her shy nature. it would be one more way to help her clan in its time of need, whichhad always been something that she valued during her lifetime. rowanflame was much more capable of handling the high rank, however, and robinfoot was completely fine with remaining a normal warrior. besides, a higher rank would take the focus off of her apprentices training.

where is that apprentice anyways? the bi-color molly began to search visually for the tom's familiar long white fur that belonged to her apprentice. the calm brute was no where to be seen, or at least she couldn't spot him. paw steps greeted the molly's ears and se turned her cranium to see alderstar approaching her with a warm smile plastered on his face. he seems pleased. she noted in her mind though it didn't help the nervous feeling that rose in her chest. "good morning, alderstar." she greeted in return, trying to fight the urge to flinch as she rose to her paws.

the tom that stood before her was muscular and larger than herself. his larger size easily enabled him to be efficient in the battle field with tooth and claw, delivering powerful blows to the enemy and defeating them, if he so wished. his piercing yellow eyes were much like her own, only lacking the hint of green in their orbs that made hers appear a leaf-green color. he was no doubt a handsome tom either, his mackerel tabby markings covering his grey-brown fur with a white muzzle and of course, his piercing eyes. robinfoot knew him quite well as they had grown up side by side in the nursery since she was born. they had fought, trained, and hunted together as apprentices but as soon as he became deputy their friendship had drifted farther apart. she had grown used to calling him by his leader name and treating him with great respect and even nervousness due to his higher rank, but she would always consider him a friend.

"i'm doing fine this morning. and yo-?" she replied respectfully but was then cut off by a clan-mate yowling her name. the brown and white molly flicked her tail somewhat irritably but when she saw who it was she flashed a quick smile. "morning aspenwhisker. I can't seem to find oddpaw this morning, but when I do I will be sure to find you and let you know. he could use some hunting practice after the last combat training session." she dipped her head to the light grey molly and turned back to alderstar. "how are you?" she finished her last question, glancing sideways at the apprentice den when he mentioned her apprentice.

"oddpaw is doing well. I can really see that he is going to be a great hunter and a great asset to our clan." the talk about his training made robinfoot brighten up a bit and she seemed a bit less timid as the conversation went on. she lowered herself onto her haunches and wrapped her tail around her body, feeling the warmth of the sun's rays on her pelt. just then robinfoot spotted the subject of their conversation, oddpaw. he was seated across the clearing next to sagepaw, his white pelt sticking out from the rest like a cat would in water. ah, there he is. she gave a relieved sigh, glad to see that he was in camp and not wandering around outside camp, vulnerable to any dangers. like a murderer... she couldn't help the thought as she awaited alderstar's reply.

lionpaw had just woken up as alderstar called for a clan meeting. his ginger fur was sticking out in all direction as he blinked his blue eyes and gazed around the apprentice den. the tom's jaws opened in a wide yawn and he stretched his muscles, feeling his energy seep into his body once more. lionpaw then started to groom his pelt so that he could look decent when he made an appearance before his clan. it only took a couple heartbeats before his golden pelt was smooth and well kept and the older apprentice rose to his paws to exit the den.

nearly the entire clan was out of their dens when lionpaw emerged but he wasn't worried being late because he could tell that the meeting hadn't been started just yet. right outside the den were at least half of his denmates, all of them waiting for the clan meeting to start. lionpaw listened carefully once alderstar began to speak and nodded approvingly at the choice of deputy. that will be me one day. he vowed before turning to his denmates, "morning everyone. how has your morning been? do you agree with the choice of deputy?"
