kestrelpaw ∱ female ∱ tags // ashfoot

kestrelpaw nodded. "it was. i'm sure bramblepaw will have an interesting punishment."

the young apprentice seemed to look more serious as ashfoot began to speak. she had seen the older apprentices perform both of the moves, but she herself had no experience with them. she looked down at her paws as she began to think about the moves. "the main difference is that with the fact that you have to keep your claws sheathed when using a front paw blow move." attempting to phrase it the best way she could, kestrelpaw brought her head back up and met ashfoot's gaze. she felt like she had answer it incorrectly, but she knew that ashfoot would go through the move anyway, and he would calmly correct the apprentice if she was incorrect.

feathercloud
- female - warrior - 29 moons - tags: mistcloud -

As he gave her a response she wanted, Feathercloud smiled widely as they entered the bushes. She liked to hunt rather then fight and hoped Swallowpaw didn't mind her lack of fight training in the start. Saving the best for last, as her mother would say. Thinking about it, she snapped out for a moment. It had been a while since she last thought of her mother, and this was a bad time to do it. And as Mistcloud had leaped towards a squirrel, she quickly snapped back to what was happening and watched as he caught it. She smiled to herself and noticed two birds at the opposite side of the bush. They looked like crows and they were fat too.
Licking her muzzle, she crouched down and walked silently and slowly towards them. She knew her hunting and had used most of her time even after apprentice training and after getting her name, to practice her hunting skills.
Getting closer to the crows, they looked alert and she stopped. It was like every muscle in her body stood still and she held her breath. Ears perked forwards and she smirked. One.. two.. three!
With a quick bounce, she bolted forwards and grabbed the fattest crow of the two. Her teeth dug into it's neck and it didn't struggle for more then a minute before getting heavy in her grip. She dropped it onto the ground and put her paw on it. "Your favorites, right?" she spoke to herself while looking at the dead crow.

ashfoot| rank; warrior| where; the stream| tagged; kestrelpaw

Ashfoot purred at his apprentice, he knew better than to doubt her intelligence. "Very good!" he exclaimed. "I should've known you would get it right." he said. "It is always good to remember the difference between to two, he started. "I have seen the frontal paw strike, sometimes called the forepaw slash, in action, it is a powerful move and requires extreme strength to inflict any fatal damage, but I hope that when you ever use it, it is not because you are trying to kill a cat. The front paw blow however, is mainly to break an opponents attention. I myself have used it in mock-up fights when I was an apprentice, it is a very useful, non-fatal move." Ashfoot finished, still pleased with Kestrelpaw for remembering his prior teachings. He felt all other apprentices he ever had would have a lot to live up to.

"Now," he started. "Time to put all this talk into actions." he said. "This is the stance you need to take." he said, demonstrating the frontal paw strike. "Try to hit me, claws sheathed please, I'd rather not have to explain to our medicine cats that my apprentice was able to injure me." he said lightly, bracing himself for her attack.

swallowpaw| rank; apprentice| where; at camp| tagged; sparrowpaw

Swallowpaw immediately shrunk back at Sparrowpaw's inquisitive question. She realised that it might not be so normal for an apprentice her to have never been on a dawn patrol before. "Well, I did start my apprenticeship a moon late, but I'm hoping I will be able to make up for that." she said, her last words burning with passion. Swallowpaw heard Rookfang speaking sternly to Bramblepaw. Her gaze quickly snapped to the two toms, she saw both of the seething in fury. She looked back at Sparrowpaw. "Do you think Bramblepaw's in trouble?" she asked. "I saw him eating a wren, but Alderfoot gave it to him, so why is he in trouble? she questioned. Swallowpaw knew Bramblepaw could be rude sometimes, and wondered if he had perhaps been a little impolite to their deputy.

"Yup," said Tipwhisker with a smile. It was always amusing at how Sorrelpaw never seemed to detect his presense until it was too late. "What do you want to do today?" Tipwhisker thought that brushing up on fighting or checking the borders would be suitable. Even though CherryClan was far away, SedgeClan had to watch out for loners and rogues, like the loner he had once been. He wondered when his apprentice would be given her warrior name, and wondered just what it would be. He hoped that she would be proud of her accomplishments. He certainly was.

Looking back down at the two Apprentices, she let out a soft meow. "I don't think it's a bother, do you Batpaw?" Her tail gently flick as she thought. Perhaps he won't mind, it'd be good to have him converse with other Apprentices. She then smiled lightly at the two, head tipped slightly.

Bramblepaw didn't care who was aware of the two arguing, and practically glared at most of them, except Kestrelpaw. When Rookfang leaned down to whisper in his ear, Bramblepaw's ears flattened and he turned his head aside. Before you run out of time... The thought repeated through his mind, angrily. So you want me out of the clan? Is that it? His tail lashed disrespectfully, not looking sad, but rather filled with hatred of for the large tom. You better watch your back Deputy or else... "When I become of age, I want to challenge you to a fight, and if you can't handle it by that time, then that just proves who is stronger." Bramblepaw had whispered eagerly back, tail flicking back and forth as he now muttered quietly. "Maybe I'll change from your punishment, but I know that you are not my leader, and never will be." Bramblepaw had to get the last word in, just because that was how he was, and plus, he wanted to prove to the other Apprentices just how brave he was. Being that the tom was born a loner, his independence didn't change. His head turned slowly to find his mentor in front of him, he nodded lightly towards her, and turned around and began to walk back to the Apprentice den, not saying another word. I will practice my fighting every night, he won't even notice...I'll be a warrior soon and nothing is going to stop that, not even him.

She chuckled a bit and sighed, listening to his question. She made a humming sound while trying to figure out what she wanted to do. It hadn't been long since their last fight training and thought that she might as well take the chance to just spend some time with him. Even tho she knew her crush on Tipwhisker were unrealistic because of their age differences, she liked having someone she wanted to impress and someone she wanted to show her best sides to.
"Maybe we should check the borders? Unless you have anything else planned" she said with a smile, licking her paw and moving it over her ear gently as her tail swayed from side to side restlessly. It had been a while since she went patrolling with him anywhere and the last time ended in a nice badger for the warriors which she got good feedback on. Hunting and fighting were her favorite things to do and her goal was to be better then her sister.

.:Darkest Shadows:. wrote:Batpaw stiffened as loud, enthusiastic mews from Duckpaw pierced his eardrums. Focusing on not opening his maw and continuing to groom himself, it took the blind apprentice a few seconds to realize that Duckpaw's voice was deflated. Lowering his paw from his maw slowly, the tall tom had a feeling his 'silence' wasn't exactly working. As if proving his point, the next sentence came, and he could almost feel a stare on him. Nape prickling just the slight, a very soft sigh escaped him, and his filmy slate eyes narrowed ever so slightly. Doesn't matter what I think. Doesn't matter what I think, he repeated in his mind, but as if a mockery was being made of his efforts, Morningblaze returned. No only that, she acknowledged him and Duckpaw patrolling in such a kind way, almost as if seeing if he would snap. This is a test of my patience. The is the only thing that makes any sense is if I go to the creek and Duckpaw goes to the Deadforest where no type of prey can be alarmed by her clumsy, loud, annoying presence. But, If I tell the truth, I will be despised. No doubt that would be a wonderful way to be introduced - for two moons I have kept my maw shut. If I have an undignified outburst now then the entire clan will completely despise me. Or reject me. Starclan, you are toying with me, aren't you? Fine. I'll play your little game. Duckpaw may be abysmal at hunting, but fishing... maybe she can manage that. There is always the fact that Morningblaze may completely reject the idea, but can't win it all, especially in my case.

"No. Not at all,"Batpaw mewed, his ever soft voice coated with this... higher-pitched edge. Lying had never been one of his strong points, but he wasn't worried about it - none of the cats knew his tendencies, so they probably just thinking he was another excited apprentice ready to go on a hunt. Remembering some valuable training then, the ebony tom forced perhaps the most strange smile on his maw - even though he couldn't see himself, he knew it probably looked almost like a lopsided sneer. My lying is, without a doubt, worst than my fighting - is this coming across as sarcastic or joyous? "But, could we stop at the creek first?" I'm blind, so most think I cannot fish... well... not in the traditional sense. A more humiliating way, but it's better than not feeding the clan at all I suppose... desperate times call for desperate measures... if I had put this much more effort into keeping him off my back then maybe I wouldn't be here now, Batpaw thought bitterly, but then realized he'd fallen completely silent without an explanation. "I would like to look for some marigold and perhaps fish some." Forcing himself to keep the 'smile' on his maw, the tall apprentice sat stiffer than a twig, inwardly wondering if his small goals for the day were about to collapse just as his life was.

Tipwhisker was pleased with her choice. "Sure," he chuckled. The tom stood up and walked towards the border closest to AspenClan territory. He waited for his apprentice to catch up, grooming himself to keep himself busy. Again, Tipwhisker reflected on his life. He wondered what would have happened had he not stumbled into SedgeClan cats. Would he have been taken in by a Twoleg? Would a cat from MoorClan or AspenClan have killed him? Or would he have remained a loner, wandering the world? Even though I've been accepted, he thought, I still don't share some common intrests like other Clan cats. What would they say if they knew I don't really believe in StarClan? Afterall, ghostly cats, controlling our lives? Not very likely, is it? But what about my family? My friends?

owlpaw
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
apprentice - six moons - waking up - calm - brightpelt
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
owlpaw smiled. " yeah, the lazy ones ", he laughed. he swished his tail as an extra trait towards his excited tone. he soon glanced at mint flower and mewed, " yeah, see you later! ", he continued his glance back towards brightpelt, still holding a puffy smile on his face. it would be great, actually. with the beginning walk, he could probably exaggerate that into a somewhat exploration, but soon transfer it towards the practice of the battle moves. simple ones, maybe. he would probably have a hard time performing the practice moves on brightpelt; unless there was others plans. it was mainly due to his size, as he was only six moons. but, he could most likely do a simple good for it. he simply smiled, and nodded.

he felt awkward when he attempted to act as energetic as the other apprentices; truly, he wasn't really acting, but several times that was what he would do. he differed from most apprentices, especially the new ones, he was still basically a kit. he shaped into the fact that he had to hold onto a more stone like personality around the time where he turned six moons. hopefully it didn't bother brightpelt; well, it most likely didn't; the only reason he acted so calm about the fact was because he didn't want to get into any trouble, he enjoyed helping out but he never felt that mood to get ticks out of the elders' fur, and all of that. it looked disgusting! along with the other tasks the leader assigned; it was basically like taking a whole load and carrying it on your back. but, sooner or later that may end up being that; unless he just stayed calm. truly, he wanted to act energetic, and fit in with all the other apprentices, but he may end up being too curious, or too careless and end up walking into a fox's den.

he untangled himself from his thoughts, and nodded once more. " yeah, that sounds good! ", he smiled. it would actually be fun to run into a patrol; maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't. maybe he could help mark the borders; but that was probably done earlier in the day. he could probably add a small help to the medicine cat by picking out some simple herbs he heard the feline go over, that would take off a simple load. maybe he could get cobwebs, it was slightly common, and was used for plenty of things; well, just tending to a wound, making it heal faster; but that happened often, so it seemed to be good to have extra supply, just in case anything came up. he glanced around, soon looking further for the entrance, but also the exit. they were the same, of course. he walked simply ahead, and was a few steps ahead of brightpelt. he paused for a simple second, soon turning a gaze towards brightpelt; he was about to speak, mainly returning brightpelt's statement.

" maybe we can practice battle moves? well, i might be too small; maybe we could do hunting? ", he questioned excitedly. mainly, he wanted to try some hunting. that would open a better opportunity for him to help out with some herbs; just in case the walk didn't bring much. he would probably have to gather some moss, of course. that was one of the first things an apprentice would do; scraping the green moss off of the oak of a tree, and carrying it off towards the clan, bring it to the medicine cat so they could use it to apply the mouse bile on elders. he wondered silently if some elders could still manage to get their own ticks off of them, well, that would be hard for owlpaw, too. if one were on his back, how would he reach it? well, the elders were the only ones who seemed to need help, he would probably make some what of a wild guess, and pull the ticks off of himself. however, some elders were just retired elders who lost sight, or hearing, which obviously would force them to retire.

kestrelpaw ∱ female ∱ tags // ashfoot

kestrelpaw purred when her mentor praised her. she silently listened as he began to explain the moves carefully. the apprentice took mental notes on the things that seemed most important about the moves and their differences. she nodded calmly once her mentor finished. "i would never kill another cat." kestrelpaw's mind raced at the thought of killing another cat. not only would it be breaking the warrior code, it would also disgrace the young she-cat.

she watched intently as her mentor demonstrated a frontal paw strike. she nodded once her mentor ordered her to copy him, and raised herself to her paws. raising her tail she pulled her left paw above ashfoot's head, before forcefully and quickly pushing her paw down onto her mentor's head- she attempted to be strong whilst not hurting her mentor. her paw made contact with her mentor's head, but she noticed she was too far to the left, and her paw skimmed past ashfoot's head before hitting the soft grass next to them. "ah- whoops. sorry." shaking herself lightly, kestrelpaw turned to look at her mentor. she wanted to try again- and it had made her angry that she couldn't do the easiest of moves, but she knew ashfoot would assist her, or at least, she was hoping he would.
