Echo stood at the edge of the small pond. She could see the tops of the trees and the stars being reflected back at her. She took a drink, the ripples of water disturbing the reflections. Echo looked up to the sky. She knew it was weird for a horse, but she loved the night. Most times darkness frightened horses, but it always calmed her. Maybe it was the way the night sky made her fell small. She liked that feeling. She was always so big everywhere else. She towered over almost every horse she'd ever met. She had yet to find a horse like her in the wild, besides her mom of course. Most times she didn't mind it. She could see farther in the distance because of her hight. She could take fewer step, because her legs were longer than other, but when it came to stallions and herds, she always felt awkward. In a group she stood out. That was part of the reason she hadn't joined a herd yet. That and stallions were sometimes intimidated by her size. How do you successfully snake a horse taller and bigger than you? Anyway, Echo found a fairly protected area from the night's creatures and let herself drift off a bit. She was in stage 2 of heat and the sent was starting to become stronger.
(Sorry for the deep post, I realise horses don't have human thoughts about size and feeling awkward, but I just went with it.
