the remains of a deer were scattered in the clearing. Mist rose slowly as dawn finally broke from its shell, light seeping through the leaves. The tree's almost appeared to whisper to each other, questioning the stillness of the surrounding. If eyes had been gifted to the wood, constant slapping of paws against snow would be a far more normal sight then this. Every wolf that dotted the clearly made slow and almost scared movements, their paws only going where their eyes checked twice. Wind stirred the leaves from their sleep, moving its way between the fur of every wolf caught in the blast. Snow was crunched but ever so silently, their movements so silent, couldn't alert the most paranoid of animals. But their desire was not to simply be slow and careful, they were scared, an expression not seen on the kings face before. All nose that had dug their own hole in the snow led to the same trail as the next, an animal gone long ago had risen.
a blur of orange was seen as whines and almost screams were heard. A wolf had run through the snow with all the power he could muster, his tail between his legs as he whimpered. A hiss sounded off a near object, something that all wolves focused on now. The creature had sent one wolf running and all back into the forest. A new rivalry was made there and then. Its build was skinny, but muscle still packed its petite frame. A shorter muzzle than a typical wolf, their head rounded. It's red pelt built for the camoflage in summer, hardly allowing it to hide in winter. The wolves barked and snarled, their teeth flashing violently at the new arrival.
but nothing can scare a mountain lion.
