Speaking to Sorrowpaw
- Glad to finally have the day rolling forward, Willowlight purred happily at Sorrowpaw's enthusiasm. The pair padded side-by-side across camp and out into the forest. As they walked, Sorrowpaw asked about Willowlight's first hunt. It was an unexpected question, and Willowlight was surprised she had not shared the story sooner. The subject had probably just slipped her mind.
She was quiet for a moment, reminiscing about that fateful day when her old mentor, Ivydust, took her hunting for the very first time. Then, she began.
"Yes, I remember that day.", she chuckled. "It was horribly rainy, so all I could find was this slimy old frog. The nasty little thing escaped and left me to pounce right into a puddle instead. So, I returned to camp all muddy, but my mentor thought the whole thing was quite amusing.", her whiskers twitched as she recalled the expression on her mentor's face as he tried fruitlessly to hold back his laughter.
Willowlight's green eyes were filled with nostalgia. It had been humiliating at the time, but looking back, she could only recall her first hunt with fondness. She had improved since then, and besides that, her mentor was no longer living. Every memory she had of him was precious to her.
Her early apprenticeship was full of clumsy little mistakes like that, but as she grew into her legs she found her balance and became a wonderful young warrior, like all the other cats her age.
She looked down at her own apprentice, curious to see how she would react to this less-than-impressive tale. Willowlight expect some amount of amusement, and she did not mind it. She was no longer sore over her failed first hunt, so it did not bother her.
