Sukoshi. Meaning Little.

Sukoshi

Some Basics.
Meet Sukoshi, or Suko for short. A Dog who's bark is definitely worse than his bite. He's just short of 5 years of age but occasionally speaks with wisdom beyond his years. His breed is a Shikoku ken, a small hunting/fighting dog from Japan and boy does he let others know it.

A little more.
What he lacks in size he makes up for in wit, charm and self awareness. He's very street wise but also loveable. He's not a bad dog though, and once he lets you into his personal bubble he's a good friend and hates to see others miserable or upset.
You see, he's never had a family before, he was born in a house, to a pedigree mother and father but when nobody wanted to adopt the runt he was thrown out on his tail. Consequently he's wary of humans but not afraid. He grew up strong for such a small animal and could probably take a dog maybe even double his size. He's a happy go lucky soul who enjoys sunbathing and chasing smaller animals like cats and squirrels. He has moment when he's too arrogant for his own good but a clout round the ear normally sorts him out. He is currently happily living in the pack as a regular contributing member.

Appearance
As stated, he's short and small even by Shikoku standards due to being a runt and malnutrition at a young age. His fur is a mottle of greys and browns with a white underbelly, some places have an almost burnt look to them, around the back of his neck fur and his muzzle for example. He has a short, pert, rounded sickle tail and small stocky ears. His eyes to any human look like regular brown dog eyes. But they are actually alive with his energy spark, always dancing in the light and looking warm and friendly, sometimes challenging.

((I hope this is okay. If you want me to change it or add to it then feel free to say so, I know it's a bit naff.))

Kári and Kaze

Postby Tordier » Sun Feb 02, 2014 1:50 pm

You're making a choice to live like this, and all of the noise.
Image
He's a fairly average-looking mutt of about medium height with an athletic build. At least, he was once athletic, but Kári has lost some weight and muscle tone recently due to his age. Fortunately for him, he has always been solid white, so no one can tell that he's been greying, but the dirt is clearly visible on his short fur. On the other hand, Kári's eyes are dark brown and appear perpetually sorrowful, so there always seems to be something slightly pathetic about him regardless of his current mood. His pointed ears mostly prick up, but the very tips are floppy, perpetuating his mutt-ish appearance.

    I am silence.
If there was ever such a thing as being too kind-hearted, Kári would be dog to fill that role. He would risk life and limb for a stranger over the smallest of things simply because he feels it's the right thing to do. Kári is so selfless that it's a miracle he's lasted this long without getting himself killed, but he probably has his pack to thank for that. The dogs he does favors for often remember him and help him out in return. Of course, he could be easily taken advantage of, but he has the leaders in his pack to make sure that doesn't happen.
Fortunately, he he has gotten older, Kári has also gotten smarter and is not so keen to risk it all for the sake of ideals, but a good reason why he should care will always get him emotionally invested enough to do something about the problem.

We already know how it ends, tonight.
Kári is a lifelong stray and knows the streets like the back of his paw. Once he was old enough to be on his own, he left his mother and siblings behind and traveled for awhile, searching for a territory to call his own. He remained a loner for awhile, but eventually abandoned his youthful notions of commanding a territory all on his own and joined up with a pack of other strays. Kári has been a member of this pack for many years and now considers it as his family.

You run in the dark through a fire fight, and I would explode just to save your life.

You feel so lonely and ragged.

You lay here, broken and naked.
Questionnaire wrote:Hello. What is your name?
Kaze wrote:It's Kaze. Ka, like what crows say, and ze, which rhymes with hey. Ka-ze.

Questionnaire wrote:What an interesting name.
Kaze wrote:An interesting girl needs an interesting name.

Questionnaire wrote:Erm... Just to avoid any awkwardness in the future, you're straight, right?
Kaze wrote:Haha! Good guess. I'm bisexual, actually.

Questionnaire wrote:How old are you?
Kaze wrote:Technically, I'm only a year old, but I'm closer to two. I'll get there in about two months.

Questionnaire wrote:Your breed... It looks vaguely familiar.
Kaze wrote:Ah. I'm a Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix. Staffies look similar to the American Pit Bull Terrier, so I look like a lot of the pittie-type mutts you see running around.

Questionnaire wrote:Are you a member of a pack?
Kaze wrote:Sure am! My rank isn't anything special, though. I'm just a regular pack dog.

My love is just waiting to clothe you in crimson roses.
Questionnaire wrote:You mentioned you look like a pit bull, even though you're not. Could you elaborate a bit more?
Kaze wrote:Sure. So, I'm a really strong dog. I have super short fur too. It's nice and smooth, and I like it because it doesn't get as dirty as those longer-furred dogs around. Not that I care. It's just more convenient this way.
Anyways, I have really powerful jaws and a rather large head, and my ears prick up at the base, but then the flop over to either side. That's called 'rose ears', if you wanted to know. Everything I mentioned so far applies to Staffordshire Bull Terrier and American Pit Bull Terriers. The differences in the two breeds include differing head shapes, heights, and stuff. It takes more of an expert to tell one from the other.
Color doesn't matter much in either breed, so there's that too. I happen to be black with a white streak down my chest and brown eyes, but others will look different.
So, I guess you say I'm just one of those mutts that needs a DNA test to know for sure which side of the spectrum I'm from. That, or knowing the parents. Fortunately, I know mine.
Oh, yeah. In case you were wondering, I really do always wear this chain collar. It's not like I can get it off of anything, but I like the way it looks, so I wouldn't want it off either way. The name tag, on the other hand... It's sentimental because it marks me as a dog with a human, but I think some of the other strays question my... Stray-ness, if you will. Still, it's useful. People assume my human's nearby so they mostly leave me alone.

I will be the one that's going to find you.
Questionnaire wrote:I'm like to hear about your parents some time. For now, how would you describe your personality? You can tell a lot about a dog by what they say about themselves, after all.
Kaze wrote:Indeed, you can. Alrighty then. So, I'm a dog that likes to have fun. I'm friendly towards others and tolerant of their rougher qualities. Really, I pretty much get along with everyone. I'm confident, too, and easy-going, so it's pretty tough to think of an insult that'll get under my skin.
I hear I'm insightful, and I'd have to agree. It's easy for me to judge character and guess at what's going on in someone else's head. That's a good quality to have because it helps me help others. Yup. There's nothing more fulfilling than knowing I've done something to make the world a better place, so I'm game for anything. It doesn't matter if I don't know who you are. I can't ignore a dog in trouble.
That goes double for my friends. I'll admit that I tend to fall in love fast and hard, but that's alright. You won't get anywhere without taking risks, right? I'd do anything for my friends, and anything for that special someone.

I will be the one that's going to guide you.
Questionnaire wrote:I think I like you already. Say, would you be willing to tell me about your past now?
Kaze wrote:I'd be happy to. First of all, I'm wearing a collar, so you can tell that I used to live with humans at some point. Yeah, my parents both had humans, and they used to play together at a local dog park. They ended up having puppies together. That's where I come in. My brother and I were born healthy and we were given to new homes when we were old enough. My mother's humans made sure to give us to great homes nearby so that we could see each other. I ended up in the care of a young man living on his own and in need of a companion. He was a little rough around the edges, but I loved him dearly. He was my best friend, and I knew I could count on him no matter what. I never trusted a human quite like him. We even rode his motorcycle together. It was scary at first, but I learned to sit still behind him and rides got fun after that! Heh... Yeah...
See... It wasn't his fault. The car... It wasn't supposed to come that way. The light was the wrong color... And, well... I was in back, and he was in front, driving. The car... I would have died if he wasn't in front of me, but he was there, even then.
After the accident, I stayed by him. I knew he was. You know. Gone, but I stayed.
The paramedics eventually chased me off. I guess I looked intimidating to them.
After that, I couldn't go back to my old life, so I ran and ran until I came to a new city. I've joined up with a pack of strays. I'll never trust another human again, so living with other dogs is the best thing for me.

My love is a burning, consuming fire.
Questionnaire wrote:That's... Really sad, Kaze. Let's change the subject. What was your father like?
Kaze wrote:He was a mutt of some sort. A shelter dog, if you will. His name was Kestrel.

Questionnaire wrote:And your mother?
Kaze wrote:Kerani. She's a purebred Staffordshire Bull Terrier. That's how I know for sure that I'm a staffie mix and not a pit bull.

Questionnaire wrote:You mentioned you had a brother, too.
Kaze wrote:Ah, Katashi. He was an energetic guy. Ended up with a family that had a lot of kids, so I think they can keep up with him.
Huh? Yeah, you probably noticed. My parents were Kestrel and Kerani, and their pups are Katashi and Kaze. It was a coincidence that my mother and father had 'K' names, but everyone thought it would be cool if my brother and I had matching names too.

Questionnaire wrote:Do you want your mate's name to start with 'K' too?
Kaze wrote:I never really thought about it. I guess it would be interesting, but I'm more concerned with personality. We'll have to see once I find the right guy.

Questionnaire wrote:You don't happen to have pups, do you?
Kaze wrote:Haha, no.

Questionnaire wrote:And no other family?
Kaze wrote:My pack's my family, now.

No, you'll never be alone.
Questionnaire wrote:It's good that you're not alone. Do any of your packmates stand out to you as friends?
Kaze wrote:I have two pretty good friends. The first is Temperance. She's the Lead Dog Helper, and I think she's good in that position. I trust her input and she's easy to work under.
My other friends is Savilla, a pack dog like me. She might seem quiet and boring at first, but she's nice and we have fun together. I try to keep an eye on her since she seems to be taken advantage of so easily. I'm a big, strong type of dog so I can handle it. Really, she's adorable. Don't you think?

Questionnaire wrote:You seem to get along with just about everyone. Is there anyone you don't like?
Kaze wrote:Sure. Everyone's got those couple of dogs that rub them the wrong way. Kári's like that for me. He'd die for a rock just because the shape was somehow sentimental to him. Good gravy! It's such a pain to see the old guy so emotional over everything.
I don't care much for Sukoshi either. It's just those little things that bug me, like the way he thinks he's so great for being a Shee-koo-kie, or whatever it's called. It makes me wonder if he doesn't like mixed breeds. Like me.

Questionnaire wrote:You seem awfully worried about what Sukoshi thinks of you... Is it because you like him?
Kaze wrote:What? No way! I don't really have a crush on anyone, s-so stop asking.

When darkness comes, I'll light the night with stars.
Questionnaire wrote:Alright, alright. What about a theme song?
Kaze wrote:My old human used to play this one calld 'Whispers in the Dark', by Skillet. I figured out some of the words, and it reminded me of him at the time, but now that I think about it, I guess it kind of fits me too.

Questionnaire wrote:One last thing. This photo. Do you know who took it?
Kaze wrote:Yeah, it was some human called H.-P.Haack, I think.

Hear my whispers in the dark.
