Silence speaks.
Silence screams .
Silence talks louder then any word,
That cuts through the heart like a sword.
The black she-wolf observed with a blank stare the Security Brute. She wondered why he had decided to come to her at all, out of all the wolves in this pack. But she didn't dwell on it for too long. She wasn't sure if she even wanted to know, but she suspected it was because he had no one to share the rabbit with. It was quite large for the middle of winter. At the thought of the season, Red internally rolled her eyes. It was soon time for the Mating Moon. The fae had no intention in taking part of it, albeit being forced to attend it. For the past year that she'd attended it, she was mostly left to herself. No one dared to walk up to the newly ranked Security Fae, her silence was more feared than envied at the time. She hadn't complained. Thinking about the Mating Moon caused her train of thought to drift towards her late family. Remembering that she was once able to rely on somebody. But those days were over. Getting too close to someone, and trusting them only brings hurt. Maybe if she had insisted more upon keeping her siblings with her instead of trusting her older brother to bring them home safely, Echo and Casper would still be with her. She wouldn't have figured out the ugly truth. Chasing those dreaded thoughts away, Red looked up at Ryder again. She was being unfair to herself, she knew that. But she couldn't help it. Being left alone for 2 years taught you that your only company is yourself. It's a wonder the pack wolf hadn't started talking to herself yet.
The silent wolf's eyes caught the slightest change in Ryder's eyes. His yellow{?} eyes darkened faintly, so minimal that is seemed insignificant. But Red knew better. A flash of anger and maybe a little hurt lit up his eyes, and the fae couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking about. What secrets layed behind those captivating eyes of his? Red Leaves didn't press him for it. She never asked for information unless given voluntarily. Every wolf had their right of privacy. Instead, she just flicked her ears and listened to him speak. Not a bad day yet, probably won't last thought, blizzards like to sneak up on us. Red nodded slightly in agreement, her head barely moving at all as she just observed silently. As he took a small bite out of his catch and pushed the rest towards her, Red noticed his eyes quickly, almost too fast for her to catch, drift towards her flank and back to her face. She knew what he was thinking. She looked underweight, and she knew it. But Red was never bothered by it. She had a small appetite, and her body type was slimmer than many. Lowering her head towards the freshly-killed rabbit, the Security Fae bit into the warm meat, her taste buds relishing the taste of animal blood in her mouth. Her ears instinctively angled towards him as he spoke, a habit of hers to listen intently to everyone who spoke to her. blasted Moon thing will be over. For some unknown reason, those words stuck in her mind. She definitely wasn't the only one who felt that way towards the Mating Moon. It was basically pointless. Most of the time her packmates fell in love during spring and summer, when they weren't focused on finding prey to survive. The whole thing was absurd to her, but what could she do? They would probably think her opinion was biased, considering she'd never been able to properly catch a brute's attention.
All through her wandering thoughts, Red made sure to never let anything show. The smallest slip up could cause a nightmare for th black she-wolf, a nightmare she wasn't ready to face. They would probably ask her questions, and all Red would be able to do was cower away. Not that she was afraid, far from it. But she didn't want that to happen. Not when she wasn't even sure of it herself. Picking away at the rabbit the other Security Wolf had brought, Red's amber eyes drifted away around camp, more feeling than seeing the emptiness of it. Her pack wasn't particularly close, most focused on feeding themselves and the pack than bonding. If it wasn't for that damned { Just a question, is that considered as swearing? } snow that covered the floor all year long, maybe this pack would have more interaction amongst themselves. If Red had one wish, she knew she'd wish that the white powder never existed. It might be pretty to watch, but it made living all the more difficult. Ryder's voice registered in her mind once again, and she looked up at him to see the brute starting to walk away. Without thinking, Red called out to him, cocking her head to the side as the slightest sign of confusion flashed through her eyes. "It's your rabbit too." Was all she said, her voice just a little over a murmur. It wasn't that she had nothing else to say, she just didn't know how to put her thoughts into words. She was definitely out of practice, but it didn't bother her very much. It was just the type of fae she was. A silent, calculating she-wolf. Not that she needed to speak very often, signals using movement of tails and ears worked perfectly when communication was mandatory, say during a patrol or something. Straightening up, Red pushed herself away from the half-eaten rabbit, beckoning Ryder over with a sweep of her fluffy black tail.
