caribouskull left the announcement, seeing Larkpaw leave camp. where was that apprentice going? Caribouskull merely growled and followed, feeling like toying with his protégé. the fluffy tom followed his apprentice quietly, glancing around with mock nonchalance, as though Larkpaw was leading him. so... Where are we going today? asked Caribouskull a sultry smile on his scarred maw.

the pale eyes narrowed at the younger fae's mistake, but at an intuitive and eager suggestion, opalinejester brushed the mistake aside. she carefully padded into the middle clearing, scrunching her delicate pink nose at the foul mud. alright, we'll try it. the tiny femme had her doubts though. this could hurt, since shadowpaw would essentially be attacking a cat the same size as her. but, opalinejester would just grit her teeth and bear it. lets go! the white she cat crouched, taking on the persona of an attacking cat. she took a few steps back, and turned, running about ten metres away. crouching, she sprang of the ground and advanced at a careless run towards shadowpaw.

The male had only turned around to practise more when the paw steps of his mentor was heard. Larpaw looked around before the brown striped tom hopped through the growth, looking at the apprentice with his cold eyes. His scarred jaws split as words flowed, and larkpaw almost felt ashamed. ❝Well, i was simply training for the test, would you care to start it?❞ he asked, a smirk on his face at the end. The brown tom looked around, the urge to dig up the mouse was strong, but he remained where he was.

Shadowpaw waited eagerly for Opalinejester, who padded seemingly reluctantly to the center of the clearing, and as soon as her mentor was in place and was advancing at a loping run towards her, Shadowpaw darted in, threw a few careful blows from the side at Opalinejester's ears to slow her down, then leapt into the air, this time not slipping. She twisted in the air and landed on her mentor's shoulders, then sank her teeth into the loose fur of Opalinejester's scruff and tugged, trying to pull her over.

caribouskull raised an eyebrow at Larkpaw's sassy remark, but said nothing. he sat down, tail curled around his paws. alright, perhaps I shall! Caribouskull looked a round, shivering slightly as the rain soaked through his thick fur. he stood up, flexing his claws into the Peary ground and nodded,finishing HS swift observation. i want you to first practice bird huntin, I'll be watching! with that, the burly tom sped into the bushes and up a tree, watching Larkpaw with yellow eyes.

opalinejester grit her teeth as Shadowpaw's strong bulk hit her shoulders. the apprentice tried to tug at opalinejester's scruff, and the equally fast mentor flipped away, slipping it from underneath Shadowpaw. the pearly she cat stopped and looked back at Shadowpaw with a smile of praise. that was perfect, the only reason I got out is because I'm not exactly much bigger than you! she joked. the smile of approval now plastered on the cold queen's face was one not often seen. but the joy at teaching and training her first apprentice was enough to bring any form of joy through the hard exterior. opalinejester padded over to Shadowpaw, no longer caring about the rain, which was coming down quickly now, and gave the apprentice a happy nudge. that was perfect, we'll learn something new tomorrow maybe. It's too slippery to do any battle training safely now... opalinejester squinted through the downpour. lets try a hunt in weather conditions.

Shadowpaw could feel her grip on her mentor's shoulders slipping as the warrior bucked her off. Shadowpaw flew off Opalinejester's back and landed awkwardly on her paws a tail-length away, feet slipping as she dug in her claws to find a firm purchase in the slippery muck, but Shadowpaw was grinning too much to care.
That was fun! Shadowpaw declared, bouncing back to her mentor, and she purred audibly in delight as she was rewarded with a proud look and a playful nudge from her usually so reserved mentor. Shadowpaw basked in the praise, and though she was careful not to let it get to her head, she felt her pelt grow warmer beneath the warrior's approving eyes.

Shadowpaw fairly bounced when she heard that they were hunting next; while battle training was still quite fun, the tortoiseshell apprentice loved hunting best; her mottled pelt and sleek build made catching prey come naturally to her. She bounded before Opalinejester to a small grove of trees, and eagerly tasted the air; she could mostly only smell rain and mud puddles, but she didn't let that deter her as she brought her muzzle to the ground and sniffed.

She could smell faint traces of prey, and managed to find a small mouse seeking shelter beneath a pile of dead leaves. She was leaning down to pick the warm piece of prey up when a horrific scent hit her nostrils, smelling so horribly of old dirt, rotting crowfood and blood that she stiffened, and felt like retching. She backed away from the bush with wide eyes, and quickly darted back towards Opalinejester.

There's a weird smell, the apprentice hissed, pointing with her tail towards the direction of the scent. Like a doggish sort of smell, but grosser. What is it?

opalinejester frowned, pricking her ears and taking a few steps in the direction of shadowpaw's gesture. the heavy rain blocked out the scent, whatever it was. im not sure... the usually so sure she cat drifted off, pressing her ears back and crouching lower. take me to it, and we'll see what I can make of it! thoroughly satisfied with her plan, opalinejester nodded to shadowpaw to lead the way. if the smell sparked a dangerous interest, she would take shadowpaw back to camp, organize a patrol and leave again. it could be anything...
