I wake, the sun had just risen and the morning birds were singing their lovely music. I glance around, and spot Arieli sitting upon her den. I grin. Today was super important. She was choosing the Beta and Delta tonight, so I had to prove myself more than I ever had today. I immediately race out of camp, wanting to catch my alpha breakfast. It wasn't long before I spotted a rabbit in the underbrush. I found rabbit to be a wonderful breakfast, since I didn't usually like a large meal in the morning, but in case Arieli wanted more than a rabbit I would get her something else as well. I crouch down and move towards the rabbit slowly, and them I pounce, snatching it in my jaws and breaking its back. I then spot a field mouse, which was rather large if I was to say, and I caught that as well. I start padding back to camp, the two limp creatures dangling from my jaws. I ad into camp and head straight towards the alpha den. I drop the catches at the mouth of the den and call up to Arieli, "I got you something to eat Arieli."

ＬＯＳＴ
I stay in my den, hiding in the back corner where it was the darkest. My pack members were just awakening from their sleep. I could see Soldier, who I myself thought was a kiss-up, bringing something up to Arieli. Tonight was the night where our alpha would have to choose a Delta and a Beta. I myself did not want a high position. I didn't want my pack members to look up to me.

I was watching the sun rise and the birds play when I saw one of my hunters go out of camp. I was wondering where he was going, but I was sure he'd be back. Sure enough, 10 minutes later he returned with some kill and padded towards me. I stood as he spoke to me and jumped down from the rock. " Why thank you, Soldier.. but I only need this mouse. Would you mind taking the rabbit to the kill pile in the middle of the pack?" I asked him and smiled as I took the mouse. He was a fine hunter and very loyal to me. Maybe he would be good for a higher rank..?

"Of course Arieli" I say, and before taking the rabbit I say, "Enjoy your meal.". I grab the rabbit in my jaws and turn around, padding down to the fresh kill pile and dropping the rabbit in. I was going to wait until everyone else in my pack was fed before helping myself, but I could smell something rotten at the bottom of the pile. I nudge some of the fresh kill away to reveal a scrawny rabbit, with flies feeding on its rotting flesh and maggots revealed from a hole in its stomach. I growl and grab it in my jaws, but not hard, just enough so that I could carry it out of camp. It was disgusting. I pad out of camp and drop it in a hole, and bury it quickly.

I finished the mouse quickly, I usually wasn't one to eat before the pack, but if it was brought to me, I didn't want to look rude. I saw him holding something in his mouth as he walked out of camp and I walked closer to inspect it. I saw maggots at the bottom of the pile and gasped. I very quickly slung the new rabbit out of the pile and into the snow, but everything else was a gonner. We would have to go out and hunt. I grabbed everything in the pile and ran into the woods and tossed it where we usually don't hunt. That was rotten crow food and I couldn't risk anyone in the pack getting sick from it. At this time of year, I couldn't lose anyone. I walked back to camp and passed Soldier on the way. " Care to go hunting again? We have to toss everything that was in the pile, but I think the rabbit is okay. We need to feed the pack" I said to him. I realized afterwards that it was a lot to take in and I hoped he would understand.

As Arieli comes by, she asks me to go hunting and I nod. I may have been a fighter but I was also a wonderful hunter. I look at her, "Should I get some others to go hunting as well? We'll need to restock everything if we want everyone to eat this morning." This was one of my moments where I was very serious. Food was important, and if we didn't have enough than someone would have to go hungry this morning.

I listen to him and say " I will go make an announcement" and I quickly run back to camp. Thankfully we didn't have any nursing fae's or pups, but we will soon. I got to camp and covered the old kill pile with snow and made a new one two feet away and put the bunny in it. I jumped on top of my rock and howled loud enough for everyone to hear. The howl was long and loud, meaning a meeting was about to take place. I waited for everyone to emerge from there dens. I watched as they stretched and how they treated each other to make sure I knew who got along, and who was a potential mom and dad. We needed some pups so we could have good warriors next year. The sooner the better.

Lilus rounded ears quivered with sound as the swiveled back to catch the sound of a howl, crystalline eyes coming back to focus as she tore her gaze from the sunrise reluctantly. She had slipped out of camp just before daybreak to take a morning run to one of her favorite hills, eager for the sunrise and not at all disappointing by the blushing sky's purple and red color choice for the clouds. She let out a slow breath of a sigh, shifting her paws slightly before standing and turning to break into a run back down the hill. Her mind was on other things, but her slender paws led her quickly back to camp, bringing her within its familiar circle of dens with a slight rush of pine scented air to follow in her wake. Lilu's bright gaze flitted up to the alphas rock, taking in the important tilt to Arieli's shoulders and the alert light in her eyes. Her alphas stance brought Lilu back to the present as she slowed her stride and took a seat towards the back of the camp clearing, noticing for the first time how she had gotten some leaves stuck against her legs from her fast-paced run. As she waited patiently for the announcement to begin, she began picking the leaves from her fur, not noticing anyone around her as the other pack wolves woke and stirred at their alphas calling.

With a slight catch to his breath, Roan flicked his ears towards the sound of a wolfs calling cry. Something in his subconscious told him it must be the same pack that Lilu was a part of, but he chose to toss this knowledge away as he curled up tighter beneath his tree. He wasn't quite int eh packs territory, but he had known when he chose this sleeping spot that he was close enough to arouse some interest should a border patrol go by. A warm sigh slipped through his lips as he tried to catch the last bits of his dream again, managing only to fall back into a light slumber.

I sit in the entrance of the camp, watching Arieli from afar. Since I already knew what the announcement was about, I found no need to pay close attention, but I still listened.
