The wolves of Everglade have a history entrenched in secrets and heartbreak, and it's only gotten worse over the years. Kin fight amongst themselves, best friends secretly cannot stand each other, and there is always, always a plan to seize power brewing in the background. The pack is in eternal turmoil; just when one thinks an era of peace has finally arrived, along comes yet another crisis.
The latest has watered the ground in blood. Over half the pack has recently died in the brutal conflict between two wolves struggling for power. Raven and Frost each pitted their supporters against each other, and, when they were the only ones left standing to fight, ultimately met their own ends at each other's claws.
Out of all of this has risen the newest of a long chain of rulers. The icy daughter of Frost, who refused to dirty her paws during the war and had no need to because Raven's children, her main rivals, were killed early on without her help, has claimed the rank of alpha for herself and wrested the few remaining pack members — those who were too smart, too uncertain, or too new to pick a side — under her control.
Or so she thinks.
For Everglade's newest alpha might have shortest reign in pack history if a new conspiracy comes to fruition. Behind her back, [the sweet] offers [the cunning] a deal he cannot refuse: get close to Fey, become her mate, something he has been trying to do in order to install himself as alpha. But instead of stopping there, they will kill her, and [the cunning] will have all the power to himself— well, almost all of it, anyway. [the sweet] wishes to be his mate. As the alpha female, she assures him, she will not have as much sway over the pack as he will. Yet is she really planning to stop there?
Everyone has their own agenda, but it all boils down to one question: who will you support in this mad rush for that title that has caused so much pain?
