THE
ALPHA

ooooooooo

gentle
beast

        this eye's were looking for his beta, and delta as the fae spoke. he was listening yes, but still not paying total attention, besides it sound important. she seemed excited, happy, but not like their was an issue. he didn't dislike her, she was just a handle full at times. possibly the oldest pup he's ever seen.
        he looked back to again, giving a nod. he then caught a few words. he should go hunting. everyone? no. not happening. if what she says is true, the prey are easy, then only the omegas, delta and a few fighters would go. besides he needed peace not choas.
        his eyes pulled away landing on the delta, he gave a nod.
        back to the fae,
        "if what you say is true, then fewer than usual would go out to grab a substantial amount of kill," he said, his voice not rude, more rushed and almost slightly bothered.
        he looked over to his delta,
        "gather the omegas, and maybe a fighter of your choice to the hunt," he started, then looking out amoungst the other wolves, "the rest of you, stay around camp, i have to speak with the beta and high faes...".
        his words trailed off, and he again let out a deep sigh. tired, and not looking forward to the day. directly after the sigh he lifted his head and coughed, shaking his large head with a confused look on his face.
        his throat hurt, he'd never felt like that before. he'd speak with the faes soon anyway, a few of them had pretty good knowledge of these things.
        he still smelled an odd sweet smell, one he didn't recognize but it still didn't bother him.

high fae
camp
curious
with the high-rankers
Lark perks her ears, unable to stop her head from tilting slightly. Crow must've made his decision regarding the mates, she thinks to herself. The odd burning sensation returns, scraping down her throat and trachea with sharp claws, making its way into her lungs where it boils like water. The silver fae stifles a cough, instead clearing her throat. A small thing like smoke couldn't be dangerous, especially at this time of year. Snow would put out any fire that starts, obviously. But what was it that was scorching like a seething fire, burning through the systems of the wolf? Lark shakes her her absently. No. Not fire. Fire in winter is impossible. Still conflicted, she gets to her paws and pads over to where the black-furred brute stands. With the smoke still burning her throat, Lark refrains from speaking.

Lark's mind still races. Smoke must mean a fire. But no fires could ever happen in the dead winter, especially with the early freezes like this. A fire would quickly be extinguished by a flurry of cold, wet snowflakes. She instead looks around at the other wolves, trying to keep her thoughts away from the longtime enemy of the wolf. Fire alone was the one thing that could strike true fear into the heart of the silver-furred fae. She knows it is one of the few things that could very easily wipe out a pack. Nothing can protect a wolf from fire. Lark involuntary shudder and tries to turn her mind onto other things, such as the issue with the faes and Crow's need to produce an heir. She sighs and looks at the brute, waiting for him to speak and for the other wolves to approach them.

.:Marlis:.

||3 years-old||Fae||Omega||Crush- None||

||Currently- Moping||Feeling- Bitter & gloomy||Tags- Crow, Mikhail, Sora, Diana||

Marlis was looking at Crow expectantly, smile big and eyes were bright. In all truth, Marlis did not predict his next words though. It had never crossed her mind that he might possibly say no. Slowly, her smile disappeared as he kept talking. He had completely blew off her offer. Sure, he was busy and under a lot of pressure right now...but that was the point! It's hard to make good decisions when you're under pressure. The others were stressed too...Ah, nothing is fair...Most likely it will never be. Marlis wanted to protest, she almost did, but the memory of getting her face smashed into the dirt because of Lark came back to her. She was just going to make him mad.

The crestfallen Marlis finally nodded meekly to Crow before turning away to go wait at the entrance for the others. Head down, tail dragging, she looked just like a fae who was mourning over the death of someone she loved. It was quite pathetic. This was a terribly sensitive wolf. Though generally positive, it's not too hard to change her mood. Her depression quickly changed to bitterness though.You could just feel it emanating out of her. No one ever listened to her. Why? Was it because she was small? Because of her rank? Because of her personality? Was it her ugliness? Or maybe it was all of these factors....It wasn't fair. She was trying her best. She really was! So why was she all alone and ignored? Oh she was tired...

"You shouldn't be bugging the alpha." a voice said to her, dragging her out of her bitter thoughts. She turned her head to see it was Mikhail, ugh. The copper wolf looked patient and collected, but his eyes seemed to be saying something like, "how dumb are you to bug the alpha!?" Marlis gave the copper wolf a pout, but made sure her ears were lowered respectfully. This was Mikhail. A very polite wolf that always seemed to have a good head on his shoulders....Or at least when he's in public with other high ranked wolves. Marlis knew of his hatred for the lower ranks though. This was a very violent wolf.

"He said no..." she grumbled at Mikhail, referring to Crow.

"Well of course he did." Mikhail responded back with a huff. Marlis just got even more frustrated.

"Everything is over now! He denied the path of happiness! Now we're all going to be ruled by intelligent quails! We're doomed! Misfortune awaits us!" she blurted out, looking like she was about to have a fit. Mikhail had no idea what the heck she was talking about. This wolf was not right in the head. Must be an omega thing. Mikhail sighed.

"Geez...just be quiet and get prepared for the hunt. If I overheard correctly...you said a storm is coming...right? So best to gather up food as soon as possible." he tried to reason with her. An odd look came into the fae's eyes though when he said that. It's true..that is what she said...but now that she thought about it...

"Now that I'm really pondering about this...I don't think a storm is the main culprit here...The animals are tense...but when it's a storm...it's kinda like a tense/nervous irritation...but this tension is just one of plain fear...Do you smell the smoke? Fire. That's rare for winter....but it cant be anything big...and it's probably quite far away. If my guess is right...there is indeed a fire. But it should die down before it gets near us..." Marlis said thoughtfully as she looked up into the sky, clearly going over the weather patterns in her head. If life gave her one blessing than it was hunting. However, Mikhail wasn't going to buy that. A stupid filthy wolf like her cant possibly know anything about weather changes and animal behavior. He wondered who this wolf thought she was.

"Marlis. I think you're stepping out of line. You don't know anything about this stuff, so please don't try and act like you do. Now why don't you go wait for the hunt to start at the entrance? You're an eyesore to see at the center of camp with that disgusting fur. Oh, and please...work hard?" he finished his words with a smooth smile to try and hid his venomous words that he spoke ever so gently. Marlis wasn't fooled. But with that, Mikhail walked off. Marlis sighed and went to the entrance and dramatically fell to the ground, moping. She wasn't trying to act like she knew stuff. She was just voicing her observations and theories. Being the most outspoken of the omegas isn't always the best thing it seems...Actually....speaking of omegas....she wondered where Sora and Diana were. She hadn't seen the two today yet. Not that it mattered much she guessed. And with that, Marlis waited for the others to get ready as she laid on the ground, moping.

:If you ever need anything please don't
Hesitate to ask someone else first
I'm too busy acting like I'm not naive...

.:Mikhail:.

||3 years-old||Brute||Gamma||Crush- Maple||

||Currently- Asking permission||Feeling- Frustrated & motivated||Tags- Marlis, Crow||

Mikhail sighed to himself as he walked away from Marlis. What a pain. But at least she was leaving camp. It frustrated him that Crow never seemed to give her beatings like he always hoped for. But who was he to question the alpha? A wolf that was not white? Anyways, Crow had said he wished to speak with the beta and high faes. He was not mentioned....not that it was a surprise. As much as Mikhail hated to admit it...he was probably the lowest rank of the high ranked wolves. He was the gamma. Sometimes he was not included in certain discussions or things. This may be one of them. Of course he wasn't sure about that yet. He did know for a fact though that he wasn't going on a dumb little hunting party. He hated hunting. He wanted to be included in the discussion, just so he knew how things were going, how everyone was acting and feeling...and of their opinions of the subjects they speak of. You learn a lot about a wolf through their opinions and reactions. For the first time since the passing of his brother, Mikhail felt like getting involved with everything once again.

Mikhail then approached Crow himself, giving the black wolf a polite dip of his head.

"Excuse me, dear Alpha...May I request to be a part of the discussion too? If nothing more than to at least observe and to know how everything is going?" he asked Crow very politely, acting calm as usual when with the higher ranks.

Orion licked his howls, his stomach crying silently for food. He had not swallowed meat to kill his hunger in a while. He clicked his ears impatiently as he waited for the reply from the other grey wolf. He shared a den with this wolf, and he had gotten used to this wolf, but sometimes every wolf got on his words, and a long waited reply was one thing that was on his list. He eyes turned to Marlis and her slow progress of gaining a hunting patrol to bring down some animals. She too had aparently smelt the smoke, and was aware that many animals were tense and nervous, easy, according to her. His strained ears were soon directed towards his den mate who finally decided to speak his words. As the first part flowed like a song from his lips, Orion turned sharply towards the grey brute. They could probably pass off as twins according to their pelt, only to the outsiders though. He ahook his head in a slight disagreement before turning it back towards Alpha.

Him and his black pelt. He could honostly rip it off now. So what if the color was black? Orion could easily lead such a clan. He grabbed the ground with his claws but held back a growl, the color system made him quite mad. He watched poor Marlis get thrown around, sure, to Orion her personality could get irritating, but her pelt was fine? He watched her walk away with written on her face, her eyes following Mikhail. She was denied what she wanted, whatever it was. 'I know i shouldn't deny the leaders actions, and I know I should trust him, but I fear something bad will happen, something bad always happens with fires. Prey is short, or it brings other packs away from their homes into our territories. I hope he understands and knows what he is doing.' he replied, his piercing amber eyes looking towards Solace's own. 'if you don't mind me, I'm going to find out what Marlis wanted with the leader, it seemed to have started something there.'. His nod said his only good bye, and the grey wolf whisked off towards the omega.

'Marlis, what happened with leader?' he asked the fae, who was close to the gamma brute. Orion nodded to the higher rank, his eyes looking at the snow fall around the copper brute.

[ jethro ] the 'gentle' > >

[ male ] [ beta ] [ its all about us... ]

____________________________________________________________________________

        The white brute soon found his Alpha was calling a few wolves to his attention, and noticed the faes swarming him. The heavyset beta picked himself up from his dena nd made long strides over to the Alpha's side. His genlte amber eyes sweeped the faces of the high faes. He was entitled to two mates; and he had already personally picked. If he had first pick, he would have chosen Bluebird and Lark. The two faes were beautiful and kind, and would make him very happy. However, he kept his intentions silent. Crow had first pick over him, and if he chose both the faes, Jethro would go mateless another year. Or be stuck with Mira.
        "Good morning Crow, what's the news today?"

[ diana ] the 'quiet' > >

[ female ] [ omega ] [ its all about love... ]

____________________________________________________________________________

        The quiet omega peaked out of her den at the scene unfolding outside. It seemed all the hussle and bussle was over the issue of mates. Not that it concerned her. She would never have a mate. The one wolf who wanted noting more than to have a lover could never have one. She didn't need pups, she didn't need to breed, she just wanted someone to look out for her other than herself; someone to keep her company, to keep her warm at night. Was that to much to ask? Oh, why bother, asking the alpha would get her a swift blow of his claws and sent out for more chores. She looked across the camp, seeing Sora's den empty. One of the only omega's she was fond of, the quiet brute had snuck out at daybreak/ She slipped out of her den and into the woods to find him.

[ darwin ] the 'stoic' > >

[ male ] [ fighter ] [ its all about war... ]

____________________________________________________________________________

        Darwin had awoken long before most of the pack. He took his job very seriously, every morning on morning patrol. He would circle the territory for his morning walk, and it gave him a moment of silence with only his soft footfalls and the occasional flapping of bird's wings. The forest was silent between the night and the day, that lovely time of waiting known as dawn. He started to slowly circle back to camp, as the border had been secured with no intruders having crossed it in the night. He trotted back to camp with a quicker pace. He stopped, climbing an old hollow tree the sloped into camp. This gave him a bird's eye view of camp without disrupting anyone inside. He watched the on-goings of morning life from his watchpost.

[ mira ] the 'selfish' > >

[ female ] [ high fae; silver ] [ its all about me... ]

____________________________________________________________________________

        Mira slipped out of her den last of the high wolves. The lovely silver fae strutted over to where the other females were gathering around Crow. The handsome alpha had to pick a mate sometime soon, hopefully. Maybe even two or three. Holly was a given, he always mated with her first since she was ever so special. Mira huffed. She writhed in jealousy of Holly's ebony silk coat. Because of her pigment, she was the best. Mira couldn't stnd competition. Next would be Bluebird, her fur white as freshly fallen snow. Mira's own fur was white on the tips, but turned gray towards the roots, giving her a silvery blue look in the morning's early light. Soon, they would all be selected, and soon, she would have her place. She would have to wait for Crow to pick his mates, then Jethro, who she knew would never pick her. The two didn't see eye to eye exactly. Or she would be Feng's. She shuddered at the thought. Feng was mean, maybe as much as she was. If she wanted to belong to anyone, it was Crow.

[ female ] [ high fea ] [ copper ] [ no mate ]
LADY DAENERYS
"ᵈᵃᶰᶰᶤ" ᶠᵒʳ ˢʰᵒʳᵗ

_______________________________________________________________________________
    --- When the alpha called for the feas to come, the copper coated Danni slowly obliged. It wasn't fair that she had to go, when it was obvious she was the lowest ranked of the females. Just because her coat was the color of a tarnished penny. And of course Holly would be there, the sacred female. A low growl escaped from the female's throat as she approached, jealousy clouding her mind like the snow clouds above. Just because the stupid, ignorant fea had black fur automatically meant she was a goddess or something. Spoiled little brat was more like it. Since all the other feas were "higher" ranked then herself, the males were...less likely to choose her for a mate. Another lovely year of no pups or love. If Danni had a choice, she would choose Feng over all the others, even Crow.

    Coming to a halt, the female took her spot off to the side of everyone. It was in her nature to ignore everyone, since that was how they treated her. Just an annoying thing to be kicked aside. Silently, the fea wondered what this was about, but her mind traveled of to the burning sensation in her nostrils. This smoke scent was making her nuts with pain. It was obvious Crow wasn't worried, but it was still concerning the young female.

Holly
♛ Black Fae ♛

▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁
mood; Uneasy
doing; Attending a meeting
tagged; Alpha/High faes/Beta
Holly pricked her ears as Crow called for all the high faes. She already guessed what it would be about. She slowly made her way over, being one of the last faes to come. Nobody looked particularly happy, but rather nervous. Holly was expecting to just go another year without a mate, but more likely with a pup. It was already given that Holly would bear a pup from the alpha. Not that it was the most pleasant idea.

Holly did, however, wonder if she would have a mate this year. She just wished she could actually have a chance to fall in love, than be 'chosen' by a brute she didn't even half know. She glanced at the other faes and assumed nothing had changed. She flattened her ears to the fact that she could her low growls directed towards her. Holly didn't exactly know all the other faes, but she had no good feelings about most of them. It bothered her that no one had got to know that she didn't always want this.. whatever it is, as her destiny. She sighs, inhaling the bitter taste of the air, which was a peculiar taste that was different from the previous days. Something just wasn't right.

Bluebird

Bluebird made her way to the meeting like all the other faes, placing herself near Lark. She didn't know the other faes well, but being a healer like Lark, she knew her most. It was the meeting of choosing mates. It never had been a great one. All it did was bring out the jealousy of the faes. But Bluebird was not bothered by it, because she honestly didn't care who her mate was, It obviously was either going to be Crow, Jethro, or no one. It was customs after all.

Bluebird twitched her ears and awaited the announcement, sitting patiently as possible. She took in a breath and held back in a cough of disgust. Was there smoke in there air? She shook her head. The idea was preposterous. The day was beautiful, she should be enjoying it rather than worrying.

high fae
camp
uncertain
with the others
Lark dips her head at Bluebird. She is unfamiliar with most of the other high faes, most of their interactions being stiff and polite. The silver fae has no personal qualms against Holly, however her arrogantly "holy" status does bug the wolf occasionally. It was like the other high faes weren't high enough. Lark resists growling and instead lifts her chin, directing her gaze to Jethro and Crow. No need to fret about the black fae, Lark's own silver fur is enough to potentially land her a mate. Last year, she had no pups. Oh well. That was last year. Anything can happen, right? The silver-furred fae eyes the two brutes. There is still a chance that she could be selected by Crow to be one of his faes this season. Lark knows every eligible fae wants to be selected by the alpha, but naturally not every one of them can be picked. I just hope if I don't get selected by Crow, Jethro will select me. I don't want to end up any lower than him, she thinks to herself. Sadly, it's not my choice to make. The hierarchy sometimes bugs Lark, but for the most part she's alright with it. Someone has to keep those lowly omegas in line.

:No thought was put into this
Always knew it would come to this...

.:Marlis:.

||3 years-old||Fae||Omega||Crush- None||

||Currently- Chatting||Feeling- Excited, happy, but a bit concerned||Tags- Mikhail, Orion, Crow||

Marlis was still pouting like a pup, absorbed in her thoughts, when all of a sudden, she heard her name being called. The fae lifted her furry head and watched as Orion came towards her. Immediately, her tail started thumping on the ground and she stood up to all fours as she got excited, her brilliant smile replacing that previous frown. She always got excited when someone approached her. But as the wolf came towards her, Orion had to pass by Mikhail. Orion then gave Mikhail a polite nod, as what a lower ranked wolf should do to one of higher rank, but the copper wolf pretended not to notice the fighter. Pretended that he didn't exist. Mikhail was a very good actor, good enough to even fool Marlis at times. She had thought the copper wolf had not actually noticed Orion. But when the fighter had approached her, he saw Mikhail turn his furry head to look at Orion, his bright amber eyes seemed quite unamused as they stared into the fighter. Mikhail soon turn his head away though, after all, he was talking to Crow. As Marlis expected, Mikhail didn't like Orion.

Marlis turned her attention away from the copper wolf though to look at Orion himself who was right in front of her now. As always, Orion was huge and strong. She had to look up to see his face and the fae couldn't help but frown a little as she stared up at Orion. She wished she wasn't small and could fight like him. She decided to voice this too.

"Ugh, why do you have to be so big and strong? I wish I was like you..." she voiced out her thoughts with a huff. But with those thoughts now spoken, her smile came back and she was as happy as ever.

"Oh, and good morning Orion! You're doing good today, right?!" she yelled out to him in a loud voice as she couldn't help but wiggle in place from her excitement of seeing him. Now truth be told, Marlis didn't know Orion that well. The two of them didn't talk much. She admired and respected him though. He was a fighter and she knew he hated his position and isn't fond of those above him...almost like how Mikhail isn't fond of those below him. This small whitish wolf soon remembered that Orion had asked her a question. About what was up with the leader. Her smile became kind of sad.

"Everything will be fine I'm sure....but if I may voice my thoughts...Crow is far too stressed right now. The less you like your job, the easier it is to get stressed. He tries to work harder cause he knows he doesn't want to be here if that makes sense. And right now...he has a big decision to make. I was hoping he would go on the hunt to ease some of the pressure. You're less likely to make a good decision when you're under lots of pressure. But of course he wont listen." Marlis finished with a little laugh before her expression became more serious, a smile no longer on her face.

"Also...I'm pretty sure he will not make it to next winter if he remains the way he currently is. Just in case he can not change before such a fate befalls himself...He should breed right now to get the black pup thing out of the way. Crow can't stall anymore. Life is short, and I think he might be out of time." she foreshadowed grimly. Marlis was quite bold to speak of this. Some would almost claim she is speaking treason. You don't talk ill about the alpha, let alone of his death. She would not explain her words any further to Orion or dwell more on the topic. Instead, her normal cheerful self came back.

"Of course everything will be fine though. Also, I bet Crow is just really grumpy about the fire." she finished with a laugh and pawed Orion's face happily with a front paw. She had to stretch her leg all the way out for her paw to reach his face. Now the fae was out of her previous gloom and just had the huge temptation to chew on Orion's ears. If only she could reach them...
.:If you fall up:.
