ROW

THE
ALPHA

ooooooooo

gentle
beast

ooooooooo
the large black brute's chest slowly rose and fell after each breath. he was fast asleep, eyes closed and ears laid back on his big head nestled into the soft warm ground of his den. you could see his every breath in the crisp air, it looked almost like smoke, a thin gentle smoke. he twitched, deep with in a dream, nothing out the ordinary. his jaw snapped quickly, more dreaming.
he was running through the forest, a swirling smoke surrounding him as he ran faster, faster. his legs almost floating above the ground as he launched himself onto the largest bull moose he'd ever laid eye's on. he brought the beast down with one snap of his jaw to the jugular. it fell but only to get back up, though now it's body was covered in flames, wailing like a like pup.

two golden eyes burst open, only to slowly close once he realized it was dream. but the smell was still there, smoke. perhaps it was his vivid imagination. he let out a small sigh escape his parted jaw as his eyelids slipped down closing again. he almost fell back asleep until he heard someone calling him. it gradually got louder but he tried his best to ignore it. he groaned, rolling over. someone was dealing with it he could he hear snarls soon after it stopped.

he laid there for a few more moments before lifting himself up off the ground, stretching and sitting in his den for a bit longer. his worries quickly filled his head, choosing mates to breed with. he knew he had to of course pick holly eventually, but he didn't know. mates were almost unimportant to him anyway seeing as there was nothing to it but breeding for pups. it was no fun, he could have any of the nicest faes he wanted. what if he didn't want any? he'd get banished for sure, replaced with the beta until he was able to produce a black male pup.

he got up, and slowly walked out of the den, his eyes squinting as the sun hit them, he lowered his head, glancing around to see his pack out and about. also the one who was calling for him, a lowly fae. he rolled his eyes at it,
"do you need something, Marlis?" he said, his tongue rolling off the name rather slurred, giving small nods to the others and motioning for the beta, and delta to come to him for today's plans.

the smell of smoke got stronger, he still chose to ignore it.

:And very later I have learned
To accept some friends of ridicule
My whole existence is for your amusement
And that is why I'm here with you!...

.:Marlis:.

||3 years-old||Fae||Omega||Crush- None||

||Currently- Talking to Crow||Feeling- Excited, happy||Tags- Crow, Lark||

Marlis was still making a ruckus when all of a sudden, a fast blur of silver came into her peripheral vision. Before she could turn her head and identify the figure, Marlis had been smacked into the ground, causing her to let out a surprise yelp and to get dirt into her eyes and mouth. As her eyes watered from the sting, Marlis decided to looked up and into the snarling face of Lark, one of the high faes. She was a very pretty silver wolf, very elegant and much bigger than her, but she had too much dignity, not that Marlis minded. The partially white omega took a deep breath to calm herself. With that breath, Marlis wasn't scared from the surprise anymore. She made sure to lower her ears, but did not look away from Lark's lovely light brown eyes. Marlis naturally broke into a smile, her tongue lolling out and her tail was slightly wagging, the omega seemed fine with this.

"Good morning Lark! You look amazing as always." she commented to the silver wolf. However, Lark merely snarled at her to not bug Crow. Marlis wasn't trying to bug anyone! She just wanted to talk to Crow...With that said, Lark left for other matters and Marlis was now alone once again. She let out a sigh. It's only been five minutes and she was already getting scolded. Marlis decided to wait peacefully for another five minutes. If Crow didn't come out then she would stat to call for him again. Yep, that sounded like a good idea! Marlis wasn't known for learning from her previous experiences. She couldn't understand why everyone always had to be sad or uptight. Life is too short for such negative things. Marlis realized that herself when she found the body of Daniil, one of the gammas of the pack. He was near the edge of a large body of water that connected to a gorgeous waterfall. It looked like his head had been smashed on something very sharp. Most likely he had been caught in the current during a terrible storm and fell from the waterfall and hit one of the pointy rocks. It didn't really matter how it happen, the fact was that Daniil was dead and she had to deliver that news. She couldn't bring the body back because she was much too small. That was probably one of the toughest days of her life. She was pretty sure Mikhail hated her much more after that. In grief, he did give Marlis a beating that she would never forget. Life really is too short...

Marlis was now deep in thought with those memories when suddenly, she heard the voice of Crow. It took her by complete surprise, and the fae couldn't help but let out a surprise yelp and jump a couple feet away. Her bewildered eyes turned to Crow, who she immediately recognize. There was only two black wolves in the pack after all. She relaxed and immediately went into excited mode, ignoring the pain that was still in her eyes. Tail wagging, ears perked up, and having a tough time staying in one place.

"Good morning Crow! Ah...you're as awesome-looking as ever....I wish I was big and had muscles...All I can do is hunt..." she finished with a sad pout. Marlis had went from greeting to suddenly voicing out her envy. She wasn't exactly known for focusing. Thankfully, she immediately remembered what she wanted to talk about, causing the excited Marlis to jump around a little.

"Crow! I almost forgot! So I was out hunting yesterday...um, with the others of course." she said, looking at the ground really quick before focusing back onto the alpha.

"The prey...was very nervous, very tense. It was easy pickings! You notice how much food was brought back to camp yesterday, right? It was a lot! When the animals are nervous, they dont know what to do. I can tell it's like that today too. The morning birds are out of rhythm. They're singing is only brief and short notes. That's not like them. They're tense too. When animals are tense...um that usually means the weather will change rapidly. Like into a storm or a drought or something. They pick it up and get very nervous." she finished her explanation/observation with a big breath, hoping she wasn't boring the alpha.

"So what I want to get at is that hunting will be very easy today. So how about we have a big hunting group? All the high wolves with all the low ones. Hunting is great, and wouldn't it relieve a little stress for the poor wolves that had to deal with that meeting last night? Oh, and we would have food for weeks! Come on! Doesn't that sound like fun?" she proposed, her eyes getting bright from each word she spoke. The look got thoughtful though.

"...Don't you think it would be good for you to go on a hunt, Crow? You're never happy and have a lot of responsibilities. It wouldn't hurt for you to have fun everyone once and a while...right?" she finished in a softer voice, tipping her head to the left. Many would say this wolf was acting quite out of place right now. And that is true. But in her defense, this wolf just wanted everyone to be happy.
.:If you fall up:.
...Just pick yourself back down...

Sorry about my last post's length, I was in a rush trying to post and get ready for school at the same time.]

location: camp
mood: alert, oddly
doing: waking up
with: alone
Soot wakes up in time to see one of those self-important high faes leap on Marlis, growling something inaudible into her ear. The huntress rolls her eyes. Higher-ranked wolves are so arrogant. If Soot had her way, there would be an alpha brute and alpha fae. The eldest pup would be the heir to the title. Not this insane color-based ranking system. Who cares if a wolf's fur if black or silver? White or copper? Pure or mixed? The ashen grey fae shakes her head in disgust, then looks around, hoping no one had seen that. Dissent between the ranks is the last thing the pack needs. This tyrannical hierarchy would shatter, as would the rest of the wolves. Soot shakes the thought from her mind. She herself isn't a lowly omega anyways, why should she care? She pushes out of her den, shaking off her pelt. Soot gazes around the area, looking for Feng. The daily hunting parties need to be organized and she doesn't dare do it without his help. The lower-ranked wolf avoids eye contact with the silver fae nearby, wanting to skip a confrontation. Lark was a remarkable outspoken wolf, especially for a fae, and Soot wouldn't put it past her to pick out her faults. Instead, the grey huntress keeps her head lower to the ground and pads past the high fae without a word being passed between them.

Holly yawns, having awaken a little bit ago. As usual, sun in the sky with few little puffy white dots of clouds. A perfect day, in her mind at least. She arches her back and stretches her paws across the dusty ground in a stretch.

Holly hoped she would be able to slip out of camp and start her own little adventures. Pup-ish? Maybe. Everyone thought she was the most important fae in the pack, but she always doubted herself. It was only the color that separated her from everyone else, right? Sometimes she longed for a more normal life in the pack. Perhaps as a lower fae, but that would probably never happen. It was customs, after all.

Holly pushes her thoughts to the side and goes to get something to eat. She crossed the camp silently, light shimmering off her black coat of fur in a peculiar way. She picks through the food, finding a small squirrel. Not much, but it would do. She found a spot in the shade and tore into the squirrel. She finished it within a matter of minutes, leaving her with a pile of tiny bones and fur.

Powerful jaws cracked the fragile bones of the rabbit that Feng held down between his paws. Fangs ripped into the soft tissue, pulling and snapping as the red meat was tore off from it's once living body. Licking his lips, Feng lifted his head. What ever blood he had missed dripped from his muzzle, staining the light layer of snow below him in small circles.

Movement caught his honey brown eyes. Licking his lips once again, Feng turn his head slowly to the shape.

It was Crow. Seem he had gotten up to greet this troublesome morning. Only taken a few steps, their Alpha was ambushed by Marlis, a lowly Omega with the personality of a year old pup then a three year old fae. Lark, a pretty young fae, was beside them, scowling at the younger wolf. Blinking his eyes, Feng snapped to attention when he saw the black wolf motioning with the flick of his feather duster tail to him and the pack's beta, Jethro.

Growling lowly, the sliver and white wolf pushed himself up on his paws. Giving his fur a brief shake, Feng stalked over to his leader, ear pricked up, and mouth drawn in a thin line. Giving a low growl, Feng muttered quietly,

"You called, Alpha?"

FIGHTER
−− solace wakes up chilled, grey coat fluffed up against the cold of the falling snow and nose tucked under his thick tail. he lifts his head and blinks stone colored eyes once, then twice, gazing out of his den into the camp outside and watching as the paws of his packmates mill about. they leave deep paw-shaped imprints in the snow that will surely be covered in a short amount of time, judging by the amount of fluffy white already falling from the sky.

sitting up and shaking out his fur, solace licks his lips and stretches his jaws wide in a long yawn, before slipping out of his den. at once he feels a cold flake land upon his muzzle. delighted, he twirls in the snow, snapping at snowflakes, but abruptly stops when an unfamiliar scent touches his nose. this is something he hasn't smelled in a while, and he has to dig around the recesses of his mind for a moment to remember what it is. smoke.

he's surprised and a little puzzled, of course, but isn't too alarmed. from the looks of it, crow, standing a few steps away from his den and speaking to marlis, showed no signs of worry, and solace knows a wolf of his own lower ranking is in no position to question his alpha's thoughts.

his mouthed opened to reveal a hole that eventually led to his lungs, that moved his stomach up and down as he huffed. His eyes snapped open and his amber eyes pierced the cave he slept in. It was a nice slumber to have, though his relaxed feeing was cut in half by the nudging of the urge to get up, he should already be up. His body jolted with energy and he jerked slightly as his body awoke, his muscles flooding with the energy he needed. He felt as if he had a mini seizure, the way his body reacted. His body slowed as his breathing returned a a calm and normal pace, his pupils growing as the sun did not reach him. His mind was awake but his body wished not to move. But with a push, he decided his muscles needed to move, so his body was pulled to a standing position, though he wobbled a bit. He balance adjusted to the new position, his ears preparing for the new movement of shaking his pelt. He put pressure in his legs and stiffened them, his pelt whirling like a tornado. When the dirt had slowly lifted from his pelt, he hissed at how it looked, lady night was one full of night mares.

As his eyes moved into the sun, his paws guided him away from his den. The comfort of his den kissed him good bye as the crisp and cold hands of the outside air grabbed him quickly and embraced him in a tight hug he could not escape. His shivered up as his body warmth adjusted, but he soon resumed a still posture. His breathed out through his mouth, the vapour rising and floating away, one thing that amused him as his life as a simple fighter. His jobbed begged for his strength, and he gave it but was only rewarded with more scars, some still painful to the touch, or even the cold. The show lightly fell on his pelt, some snowflakes sparkling brightly on his darker grey fur patches, some just hid on his white.

But his bright thoughts were quickly stood on by, by smoke? He dismissed it quickly though, it should honestly burn out it a cold weather like this, shouldn't it? He also shouldn't bother such high ranks with his petty nonsense. He looked quickly around camp, his eyes laying on one of his den mates, another fighter Solace. His jaws were open and snapping at the snowflakes, when he abruptly stopped. Did he smell it too? Orion could just ask. His paws crunched at the glass like grass below him, the little carpet of snow being collected on his dark black pads. 'Seems you're enjoying yourself, Solace'. He addressed him properly, his name in the sentence, how he always greeted anyone. 'Don't mind me, but I must ask, did you smell it? The smoke?'

The world was a sweet place in the dreamy head of the stirring Daenerys. The higher she-wolf's green eyes flittered open as a soft ray of sunshine touched her closed eyes. Normally Danni would be up already, looking for breakfast, but the meeting from last night had brought on another hour of sleep. The meeting had been about mating and other various important things that had to do with the survival of the pack. Was it at all possible that she would have little mouths to feed this coming year? From what the fea had seen, no brute had given her a second look. Now if she had been a black fea, or even a white one, the story would be different. Instead here she was with a sooty copper coat and green eyes that looked like moss on a tree. From Danni's own point of view, no male would ever find her attractive.

Once the sleepy female had managed to get up off her flank, she decided to go look for a companion to talk to, maybe gossip a little, or just chat about the prey. Instead her paws veered Danni off track and towards the alpha's den. Stopping a bit away. the female noticed him calling to his other pack mates. In respect, the copper female backed off and turned down the other path to find something to drink.

SOLACE

FIGHTER
−− solace sends a last glance towards the alpha, thoughts of bringing up the smoke lingering in his mind, but he flicks it away a moment later. crow and other higher wolves were discussing matters late into the previous night and are probably very tired, he reasons with himself, and as such there's no sense in bothering them.

just as he turns to find something else to occupy himself with, however, a voice sounds from the den and he spins around to see his den mate orion standing outside. the fighter's amber eyes are piercing and frankly a bit intimidating against the snowy white of the landscape, but solace has by now gotten used to his pack mate and his sharp eyes (and temper). orion greets him and solace brightly chirps a "good morning," thinking that orion is simply saying hello and about to move on, but the wolf continues on with a question of the smoke. ears pricking, solace nods immediately, which sends the dusting of snow on his muzzle up into the air.

"yes, though it took me a while to realize what the scent was. I suppose smoke must mean a fire, but with the snow falling, a fire surely can't spread too much." optimistic as always, solace pauses to glance towards crow again. "anyhow, crow doesn't seem very worried so I think it'll be alright."

in spite of his own words, though, solace feels his conscience as well as intelligence niggling at him, hissing in his ear that no, it won't be alright and something terrible is going to happen.
