Elusive Secret

As Secret travelled, she heard Dallas groan, and a ear subtly flicked back, assessing the stallion and wondering what was wrong. At first, she was confused. He was on the mend and had not complained when she put the herbs on, only wincing here and there, so why now? It wasn't until he spoke, wishing well for those who'd lost their lives that Secret understood. His mourning was not for himself, but for those still in the flames. Secret admired him slightly for that, though she said nothing. Incredible as it sounded-even to her- she was starting to even enjoy his company. A horse was a social creature, and she usually only lived away from others because she couldn't stand them, what with their internal greed and jealousy. Not saying she herself wasn't greedy or jealous sometimes, but being with others sometimes increased her feelings of loathing. But Dallas was different. A queer one indeed.

As he mused over her name, she gave a soft snort, as if to say 'Not really. It's just a name.' As she added in a dismissive flick of her tail, but even so, if she could blush, she would have. The mare looked away, before lifting her head imperiously as a flicker of flame came a little too close to her beloved herbs. Dunking them viciously in the water, she narrowed her eyes, glaring suspiciously at the flames.

As she was preoccupied, she hadn't yet discovered what Dallas had, still glowering at the flickering tongues of fire. Brought to attention by his words, she looked at him curiously, though a little with the expression that told of her wondering if he had a screw loose. Hopefully not. His gaze wasn't on Secret though, but more on a few figures in the distance. Looking towards it, Secret saw them. Horses. Just a handful, but it made her hopeful. She perked her ears, narrowing her eyes. Were any of them injured? It seemed one was, with the weird way it seemed to be holding it's leg. And yet, she didn't hurry over, dragging Dallas as she normally would have done. Perhaps it was selfishness, but the old mare wanted more peace, and perhaps more time with the unusually quiet stallion, as another presence, and more importantly, one that didn't irritate her, was rare. Secret flicked back a ear indecisively, before takig a step back so she'd be just a little closer to Dallas as she decided. She'd leave the decision of whether to approach to the brindle stallion. Either way, she'd follow him around. At least, till his wounds were healed. If he found her irritating, she'd leave right after. If not, she didn't know. Lowering her head so Dallas'd know it was his call, the paint mare waited nonchalently in the knee height water. It occured to her that she was hungry. Though water and sea plants were slightly filling, she needed grass, and they hadn't come in contact with any for a while. A little more than a day, in fact.
Mostly just on rps now. XD
