"Irritable? Obnoxious? Destructive?" Finn suggested only half-jokingly when she didn't finish her sentence, a hint of bitterness creeping into his voice before he could help it. He paused as if in consideration, but there was really no debate to be had: "Yes," he said matter-of-factly. "It wasn't always so bad, though. He's done stupid, reckless things all his life, but it's gone even farther downhill since... since..." Finn hesitated, unwilling to divulge such a private matter with someone he had known for all of ten minutes. But she'd confided one of her secrets in him, and he might as well return the courtesy. Besides, it wasn't like there was any use in trying to pretend it was otherwise, to pretend that everything was all right. "Since our parents died," he finished at last, involuntarily grimacing as he acknowledged the fact aloud for the first time.

Amara's gait slowed slightly as she turned her gaze to the graceful brute, eyes soft not with pity, but something perhaps akin to empathy. She knew she couldn't possibly imagine the deep pain that accompanied the loss of parents. Her's was a different, slower pain. But the skinny dove wasn't sure if she should mention her own story. Her pale eyes noted the grimace of the brute's muzzle as he gave his own personal admission. As Finn had considered, the pair had only known each other for a few minutes, yet both had shared something personal. Should she continue the strange trend? Her forehead wrinkled softly as she wondered what to say. A simple, I'm sorry or My condolences was not good enough. "I understand him, then." She said at last, switching her gaze to the ground as she stepped over a slippery smooth rock. "At least a little more, I mean. Of course I don't completely understand him..or anyone for that matter." At this point she could hear the low crash of water into water that told her the waterfall was near. A few moments later and it was in sight, a precious source of fresh water. Amara took in the beauty of it for a moment before turning her soft eyes to Finn once again.

((Well hello everyone :P))

As her now completed broth bubbled away, meat chunks added, Tanga simply took a seat back to relax. It seemed the storm had begun to move on now, the thunder having ceased in the very least, and for that she was thankful. Wrapping her bushy tail around herself tightly, the fae's gaze fell again to Bastian and Sparrow, giving the pair a little smile. The coal and ash brute from the forest seemed to be settling in pretty well if he'd already made a friend of Sparrow, though something about him unsettled the little dove. He seemed... not familiar exactly, but she felt like he fit a description she had heard many times, if only fleetingly. She cleared her throat, glancing to her stew once again, then back to the brute with a more open smile. Tanga would have time to feel strange later, for now she was supposed to welcome a dear guest. "So Bastian," she began, social streak eventually winning out, "what's life like in the Western Forests?"

With the rise and fall sound of his name, Bastian's gold-adorned ears flickered attentively. Bright jade and jay eyes lifting expectantly from his survey of a row of bowls filled with different herbs as the copper dove called on his attention. He felt his lips lift slightly at the corners faintly in a friendly response to her speaking to him, and his brows rose slightly at her question as he gave it pause. His mind lingered on the fact that his presence here wasn't normal by any means, and that few if any of these pack wolves would ever have the same opportunity in seeing the actual camp and territory of his own home so different than their own. There was no distrust in his gaze though, for the mere thought of suspicion didn't cross his mind with the little healer being the one to ask him of the Forests. "Much warmer," he half-joked, teeth flashing in a small hint of a smile. "And our heads are nearly always covered by the trees, very different compared to your mountain-top views." Bastian hadn't been in their territory long, and not yet in the full light of day, but the feeling of openness had kept him awake the night before. There was no canopy of trees to cut against the winds, and no limit to the space and air around him. It was enough to make him feel awkward with the freedom of it, so much more used to the compact claustrophobia of the trees and the foliage of his favorite forest. "It's a different kind of wild."

((Nothing for Roan just yet, I'm finding him increasingly difficult to maneuver with Finn, it's rather tragic really  ))

Tanga grinned, stirring her stew once before draping herself over the lip of her usual nest, crossing delicate ankles and resting her chin over top. "I've lived in forests before coming here, they definitely have a different feel to the mountains," she agreed, ears flicking back in a relaxed pose as her busy tail rested against her flank. "I was more so curious about the animals - I've heard there are many dangerous prey and predators there. Do you get used to them, or is it a constant fight?" she wondered aloud in her sweet soprano, thinking back to her own time without Lilith. When she had lived with her adoptive parents, having been too young to follow her sister into the unknown. There had been some predators there, mostly bears, but it had been a struggle whenever one came to close to camp.

((lame post for Tanga, but meh. I know how you feel with Roan - mind games get tiring to play, even in rp form XD))

((That's all right Goldie, she's getting a little difficult for me too. I think I got in over my head. I'll try to make her more like the way she was originally supposed to be; I've been focusing too much on her whole game-loving aspect.
Sorry about the delay, Wolf, I'm still working on this frustrating project.))

"A constant fight," he agreed, repeating her words with a nod, "But more by our choice than from their own pestering." Bastians tone was a bit more thoughtful than what might come from a warrior when speaking about their conquests in the forest. No less proud really, for he had seen many amazing feats when it came to ferocious take-downs, but with a sense of reflection. He had the urge to curl his shoulders in, as if to hide his chest, where his necklace usually rested primly hidden in his fur. Speaking of his own list of conquests was never something he felt very comfortable with, which was why he didn't usually wear his necklace; namesake usually enough of a reminder to others to bring to light what he had done. "I'm sure you might have noticed that our numbers are a bit less than yours or the Shores, especially our count of elders." He lifted a paw in almost a wan wave, "Everyone seeks out their hunts, with no pause for thought in regards to their age or abilities." His own parents included.

Tanga gave a quiet frown at his words, more in thought than disapproval. She knew wolves who sought out danger for fun, that was simply how some wolves were - but an entire pack of them? She was surprised they managed to stay afloat to be honest, though from her earlier conversation with Roan, she knew the pack to have a healer. "It seems odd to me, though I'm sure our customs here are strange to you as well," the tiny shaman spoke her thoughts aloud, peeking up over the rim of the pot to check the stew once more. "Do you enjoy it?" she wondered, jade orbs returning to his own turquoise ones, suddenly reminding her very much of Maia's. It was an unusual colour for wolves, she couldn't have seen such eyes more than twice before.

As promised, when the storm began to wane, Lilith let out a soft sigh and stood. Her fur had dried in odd swirls from the constant rain and wind shaping it, and if she'd shown any confidence in her stance, she would have looked wild, indomitable. But now, with downcast eyes and flicked back ears, she simply looked defeated, a shell. The slender fae picked up her discarded mask, noting how the markings seemed to be fading with every day, and stared into the hollow eye sockets as if they would suddenly gaze back at her. Of course, they didn't. Slipping the ivory shield over her face delicately, Lilith slipped out into the damp aftermath of the storm, the wind now blowing cold and soft in the hot spell's wake.

Bastians bright eyes surveyed the little fae with have veiled interest as she took in his short bit of information, wondering at how he didn't feel as protective about the Forests namesake with her frown. She was distinctly not intimidating, as most of the fea's here seemed to be when compared to the ones back home. Except for maybe Lilith. "I have yet to make a decision," he replied simply, lifting his black peppered shoulders up in a good-natured shrug, "It's only my second day, after all."
