"Irritable? Obnoxious? Destructive?" Finn suggested only half-jokingly when she didn't finish her sentence, a hint of bitterness creeping into his voice before he could help it. He paused as if in consideration, but there was really no debate to be had: "Yes," he said matter-of-factly. "It wasn't always so bad, though. He's done stupid, reckless things all his life, but it's gone even farther downhill since... since..." Finn hesitated, unwilling to divulge such a private matter with someone he had known for all of ten minutes. But she'd confided one of her secrets in him, and he might as well return the courtesy. Besides, it wasn't like there was any use in trying to pretend it was otherwise, to pretend that everything was all right. "Since our parents died," he finished at last, involuntarily grimacing as he acknowledged the fact aloud for the first time.
