After the rude awakening from a harsh clap of thunder outside, and the realization that his body was in worse shape than normal, Gemini leaned back in his bed to attempt to lick at his bruised shoulder. Each stroke of his pale pink tongue, meant to be soothing, only caused more soreness as the battered muscles were carefully jostled, pausing the alpha's ministrations with a quick hiss of pain. Gemini wished at that moment that he kept more healing supplies in his personal quarters, the bay laurel oil that he had applied to Aella's side the other day coming to mind with its rich earthy aroma and slick satiny texture. Thoughts of his pain and the proper treatment for his mild injuries kept the alpha's mind occupied for the time being, keeping his conscious from straying to the possible outcome his blackout had had on the unsuspecting pack camp. In fact, with the adrenaline purged from his body and his mind distracted by medicine, Gemini was about as calm and collected as he had ever been, a fact he was unaware of mentally, but thoroughly enjoying physically.

Teal eyes, shadowed from the rest of the den's occupants beneath tough bone protrusions, had been hazily viewing the cut grey figure currently occupied with the tiny dream pool of fresh mountain water. The lack of focus had his figure shifting constantly, from the burly but refined state of a warrior, the the more slender yet undeniably strong form that those shaded eyes had known not long ago. His minnow pelt, darkened by the den's low lighting, appeared the same watercolour of crowfeather black to the pair of tired storm orbs, the brute's own turquoise being obscured by brooding brows that only she could see.
As Tanga stirred from her spot in the den, going to retrieve a new bandage for the curly 'q' loner's chest, Lilith took her opportunity to rise from her own spot, tired of her mind playing tricks on her, leaving the den without so much as a visual goodbye as so many were used to from the quiet dove. No, her heart felt too empty to even try at this point, and the crisp mountain air that greeted her felt cold and pressing as it attempted to play with her mussed navy tresses. With each silent step she took away from the wolf camp, paws drawing her North subconsciously, the slender fae recalled a promise she had made long ago, a promise that was tugging her subconsciously to the northernmost mountain peak. Climbing across uneven boulders, the fae found herself slipping more often than usual had her mind been on the rocky terrain, paw pads now lightly scored by the rough shale shards hidden under the soggy snow that her trek had brought her to.
The northernmost peak of the mountain territory - it was the second tallest in the pack, but was relatively small as Lilith was now able to survey a long distance ahead of her across the full extent of the mountain range. The sun's light had long since faded from the sky, not even the faraway horizon touched by its warmth. In the distance, as she scanned the peaks as far as she could see, a tall form loomed in the misty cloud cover. It was a mountain that Lilith had traveled to, once, she could tell from the slight glow given off near its precipice that seemed to be a constant whenever she would come out to see. The wolves who lived there, she recalled their culture vaguely, having been more welcome to thoughts of the strange city she had visited as opposed to the wolves who had accompanied her there after leaving. But those empty thoughts brought her right back to the beginning.
Her broken promise to the shadowy wolf, the brute who was haunting her even in her waking moments. His dusky pelt mirrored in the midnight's fog playing around her, making her empty heart feel once again the wistful sadness that, she had realized, had always accompanied his presence. That sadness was all she felt now, after her long day of storm-fueled nostalgia, building in her lungs as steadily as the wind seemed to be building around her still form. Each stinging whip of it to her unshielded eyes brought the threat of tears to her form, her lips quivering not from the sorrow, but from the incredible loneliness that seemed to fill her, encompassing her as those stormy orbs stayed focused on the faint light of the distant mountain. Lilith gritted her teeth against it, the pain in her jaw not enough of a distraction as she remembered everything she had once treasured, previously stashed away to the depths of her subconscious, hidden from view so as to keep her broken form from falling apart. But she wasn't falling apart, not yet; no, the lonely was playing a much harsher prank on the shivering fae now, filling her to the brim with the urge to call it back to her.
And she did.
All the sorrow that had built up over the past day burst forth from her maw, ripping through her throat from her lungs in a motion so swift, so unexpected. It pierced the silence of the mountains like flint-sharp claws, tearing at her raw heart in the fulfillment of a promise she had tried not to keep. The sound was unlike any howl Lilith had produced before, a cry of anger, of heartbreak, of longing... It stilled the wind around her, wispy clouds seeming to pause in their lazy drift across the sky to take in the tremendous symphony of sounds that had torn her from the inside out, so clear in intent and only building as she called out, called as she had promised to do.
Then it was over, cut off from the world by a startled sob, leaving the jagged precipice feeling empty and hollow, quiet gasps and cries replacing the crescendo of sadness in painful contrast.
As Lilith's tears slipped freely from her mask, she felt an overwhelming disappointment in herself as the echoes of her anguish sailed on the cool breeze in all directions. She had decided to leave him, she had decided he deserved better, she had seen he could not be faithful because of her. Yet she betrayed those very thoughts by calling for him.
((So uhh... yeah. I wanted to rp, and Lilith seemed to be claiming my muse this time after re-reading through this whole topic... *hides*))
