As Hawkclaw padded over her nest, she thought of Firepaw, and how the apprentice had been during the battle, calling her over. Firepaw had fought like her when she was an apprentice. She couldn't help hoping the she cat would be made a warrior. She stood up, no longer in the mood for rest. Hawkclaw decided to she if Puddleheart and Stonepaw needed help. She was startled to see Firepaw laying in the medicine den, covered in blood.
"I thought the injured cats were still there. How bad is it?" Hawkclaw asked, even though she didn't see Puddleheart nor Stonepaw.

Firepaw glanced up. "It can't be that bad if I'm still conscious, can it?" Her voice was slurred through the intense numbing of poppy seeds. "It stings like crazy, but other than that I can't feel much."

Stonepaw stepped through between the shelves and started when she noticed Hawkclaw. "Oh. Hi." She gently pulled a layer of cobwebs off Firepaw's side and placed a new wrapping on top. "You're good to go, Firepaw. Just take it easy for the next few days."

Firepaw pulled herself to her paws and nodded gratefully to Stonepaw, looking down sheepishly.

Honeyflower watched the caos happening as cats darted from place to place. A sharp kick made her flinch. "Easy little ones," she mewed in a hushed tone. She nosed her white muzzel through the fresh kill pile. She pulled out a squirrel and took it back to the entrance of the nursery. Only another moon and the she-cat would be a mother. Biting into the animal, she ate fairly quickly.

Aspenleaf and Oakstorm kept watching at the entrance as a double security. Their eyes scanning seperate sides of the forest. Their pelts shining in the sun. Oakstorm stuck his head through to see if everything was ok.

Kesteralpaw sat trying to keep out of the way. She looked up to to Aspenstar's den. The small black tom, Reedpaw, sat sharing tongues with Honeyflower. He too needed a mentor. Would Aspenstar notice this or would they have to go another moon with no mentor.

Aspenstar jumped to the great rock, his tail flicking back and forth. "Let all the cats old enough to catch their own prey gather under the great rock for a clan meeting!" The cats flocked around, and Aspenstar's ears pricked happily at the sight of the apprentices, bouncing around hopefully. Only a few would have any changes. "I, Aspenstar, leader of Flameclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this apprentice. She has trained hard to under stand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Firepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

Firepaw's eyes glistened with excitement, and she limped forwards. "I do."

Aspenstar's whiskers twitched. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name: Firepaw, from this moment on you will be known as Firebird. StarClan honors your loyalty and your spirit and we welcome you as a full warrior of Flameclan."

Aspenstar was happy with the excitement of the young she-cat, Firebird. He turned to the next order of business.
"From this day forward, until he has earned his warrior name, this apprentice will be called Reedpaw. Slippyice, your unique thinking makes you special. May you pass down all you know to your apprentice."
He waited for them to touch noses, then went on.
"From this day forward, until she has earned her warrior name, this apprentice will be called Kestrelpaw. Hawkclaw, your strength makes you powerful. May you pass down all you know to your apprentice."
He waited for them to touch noses before starting the third.
"From this day forward, until she has earned her warrior name, this apprentice will be called Journeypaw. Fallenleaves, your loyalty makes you trustworthy. May you pass down all you know to your apprentice."
Then for the last.
"From this day forward, until he has earned his warrior name, this apprentice will be called Lilypaw. Brackenstorm, your enthusiasm makes you helpful and hardworking.. May you pass down all you know to your apprentice."

Hearing his name called to be a mentor, he limped over to greet his apprentice. His eyes sparkled at the thought of having and an apprentice of his own. They touched noses and he whispered "I'll make you into a great warrior." He could still feel his injury and was still a bit light headed from being unconcious, but he didn't want to miss this day. A smile creeped onto his face and he couldn't help but feel proud for him and his apprentice. He listened to the rest of the ceremony with a grin on his face and a twinkle in his eyes.

Brackenstorm watched as the mentors eagerly greeted their new apprentices. They began to cheer the newly apprenticed cats name in unison. Brackenstorms' tail rippled, he loved apprentice ceremonies, they always reminded him of his.
