Sandstripe
-Reedclan-Tom-Warrior-Apprentice: soon Bravepaw-With: Badgerclaw-

Sandstripe's ears flicked back at Badgerclaw's question. There had been signs of a new deputy being chosen, but as far as he knew there was no definite answer to his question. In Sandstripe's opinion, all of the cats in the clan were strong, and there were many who would make fine deputies, but he understood the elder's concern. The death of their previous deputy had been sudden, tragic, but the clan had come together during that time of despair. However, it had shaken them all. In fact, if Sandstripe's memory served him correctly, he hadn't seen Badgerclaw hardly at all since then. The old cat had since secluded himself in the elder's den, not talking to any of the warriors or apprentices since then. "I honestly can't say I'm sure," he mused after a moment's hesitation. "There are several cats I think it might be, but Morningstar hasn't really given any indication on who she will choose. Is something bothering you?" he asked, cocking his head to one side.

Ivyfoot
-Reedclan-She-Cat-Medicine Cat-Apprentice: Crystalpaw-With: Crystalpaw-

Ivyfoot trotted back into the camp, the damp earth around the riverside wetting the pads of her paws. She hadn't brought any herbs back with her this time around, but the mental map in her mind told her exactly where she could find what she needed. To her, it was almost more valuable to know where to find things rather than deplete their resources right away. She could hear her old mentor's voice in her mind, yapping at her to gather them while she had the chance, but so many of them were better fresh. However, now the role of Medicine Cat fell to her, and she got to choose how to run her practice. As long as the clan was well taken care of, she felt that it didn't matter how things got done. When she got back to the camp, she poked her head into the medicine den, seeing the small black apprentice patiently attending to her duties. "How are things here, Crystalpaw?" she asked. "The catmint plants near the gathering tree are still growing strong, and I found some chamomile near the Gorgeclan border. I haven't seen any for quite some time, so it was a nice surprise to find something like that."

***

Fogstep
-Gorgeclan-She-Cat-Warrior-Alone-

Fogstep gasped softly when Lynxstep announced Goldenstar's death. The leaders of Gorgeclan had always seemed so strong, so invincible, and even though she had seen them come and go, it still shocked her every time things changed. Perhaps she was too much a creature of habit to accept change quickly, and this one was more jarring than most. Lynxstep hadn't been with the clan for too long, and she was incredibly young. She had just been made deputy, and now she would be ascending up the chain of command. Will the rest of the clan accept her? Fogstep thought at once. She is not of Gorgeclan; she was born a Reedclan cat. Her family is still there! Even if the rest of the clan accepts her as leader, will she be able to lead us if tensions rise with Reedclan? Fogstep dug her claws into the ground and clawed at the dirt nervously. She didn't get anxious easily, and was a very carefree cat, but things were changing too much for her own liking.

Smokefoot
-Gorgeclan-Tom-Warrior-Alone-

Smokefoot carefully made his way down from the Highledge as Lynxstep made her announcement. It was good that Dappledspots approached her immediately. It would sooth the clan knowing that someone knew what was going on. As he stalked towards the back of the camp, he saw the shocked and contemplative expressions on the faces of the cats around them. He knew what many of them were thinking. How would she do as leader when she wasn't even born of this clan? Smokefoot didn't have any reservations, though. Goldenstar had lead their clan for a long time before her untimely death, and had never lead them to any harm or hardship. When things got hard, she had been able to make difficult decisions, and even if the clan had disagreed at first, they had always come out on top. Goldenstar knew that whoever she chose to be her deputy would eventually become the next leader of this clan, he thought. He trusted Goldenstar's judgments. But now was not the time to be thinking about things. His pelt still tingled with the thought of Goldenstar's cold pelt in the back of her rocky den. Shuddering, he walked to the edge of camp, sitting down and hanging his head sadly.

Viperpaw
-Gorgeclan-She-Cat-Apprentice-Mentor: Dawnfrost-Alone-

Viperpaw's jaw dropped when Lynxstep spoke out clearly from the Highledge. Goldenstar can't be dead! she thought incredulously. Goldenstar had been the only leader she had known. The one who accepted her into the clan when others would have turned the former kittypet away. But maybe this will be a change for the better, she thought, realization dawning on her. Lynxstep herself was an outsider, and wasn't so mired in Gorgeclan tradition that she wasn't open to change. This could be exactly what the clan and Viperpaw needed. However, neither she nor Lynxstep had been in the clan long, and so Viperpaw had no way of gauging what kind of leader the grey she-cat would be.

L y n x s t e p

Age: 21 years
Gender: She-cat
Clan: Gorgeclan
Rank: Deputy/Soon to be leader
Doing: Readying for patrols
Crush: Open
Tags: None yet
Apprentice: Barkpaw
Kin: Wildpath and Risingstream

Lynxstep took a deep breath and gathered herself back, standing to her paws and raising her head. I must remain strong, for my clan, and for Goldenstar. She yowled, her voice confident-sounding, but still a slight hint of shakiness. "Patrols will be starting now! If you feel like staying here for now, feel free to do so!" She waited at the edge of the camp for her patrol to gather, patiently.

As she waited, thoughts began to weigh heavily on her again. She knew Morningstar had a slight hatred towards her, what would her reaction be? Would this spark even more of a rivalry towards the two clans? The she-cat who left Reedclan because she didn't feel noticed there, came to Gorgeclan where she was untrusted for a little while, then soon gained the position of deputy. She shook her head, snapping herself back to reality. Now is a time to focus on the present time, not the future.

Silently walking through the undergrowth, Morningstar gripped 2 small mice and a vole in her jaws. For a solo hunting job, the outcome was rather fine. When she finally arrived at the camp, she quickly ran over to the fresh-kill pile and dropped the prey. Licking her lips, she headed over to the river to re-hydrate herself.
The water sloshed onto the banks in large waves. It was usually more calm along the edge, but the wind seemed to be pushing it up. The she-cat bent her head to lap the water. A small minnow quickly swam away, zipping through the water with difficulty. "Hm.." she raised her head again. "The water really is taking effect.. We should keep the young apprentices supervised when they go to drink." she concluded, narrowing her eyes to try to focus on the horizon, where the river disappeared.
Finally, she could quench her thirst. The water was a bit muddy, but it scarce on her tongue, and hardly noticeable. She padded up to her tree-den, and began to climb. Now,sitting just inside, peering into the trees, she waited for the patrol to return so she could begin, and put Bravekit's eagerness to rest with, the ceremony.

"N-no.." The elder replied, trying to keep his worries contained. If anyone found out about this fear he would never be allowed out of camp! Morningstar would think that if a bluejay stopped singing and a robin took it's place he would jump out of his fur! No, it had to stay secret. Only his best friend, Tigerjaw, knew his secret. But Tigerjaw was long gone, and the only thing that would ever get Tigerjaw to spill is Badgerclaw's permission.
Out of nervousness, Badgerclaw swallowed, but it turned into a nasty cough. "Could-" he coughed again "Could you get me some water-soaked moss?"

As she was about to pounce, Crystalpaw heard Ivyfoot calling her name. "Gah!" she exclaimed. She had only gotten half of the herbs done in the time her mentor was gone. Perhaps she would be kind enough to finish while Crystalpaw collected herbs? Worth a shot!
Crystalpaw jumped up from behind Heatherpaw, and dashed over to the den she shared with Ivyfoot and countless herbs. "I'm here, Ivyfoot!" the apprentice called. Reaching the den, she informed her mentor that she had done half of the herbs, and had been taking a break. "But might I ask why you were gone so shortly? Where's the rest of the patrol?"

(Sorry only Morningstar's is very long. D:)

~ Dapplespots ~
-- GorgeClan -- Medicine Cat -- Tom -- 27 moons -- Apprentice: Sparrowpaw--
_________________________________________

~~~
Dapplespots nodded as he heard Lynxstep's reply. The current deputy had spoken once more, before padding over elsewhere in the camp. "Sure, that would be alright." The medicine cat said as Lynxstep padded away. "I'm... sorry about what's happened." Dapplespots added quietly, uncertain whether Lynxstep would be able to hear him or not. He really wished that he'd paid more attention to Goldenstar; perhaps there would have been some herbs that he could have given her. Perhaps this whole situation could have been avoided; if only he had known what would happen. There's nothing I can do now. The gray-blue tom thought with a sigh, padding back towards his den and looking to make sure that he had lavender and rosemary.
~ Cedarbrook ~
-- GorgeClan -- Warrior -- She-cat -- 27 moons -- Apprentice: Nightpaw--
_________________________________________
~~~

The blue tabby was still thinking of what had happened; it had happened quickly, and before she'd even realized what occured. Goldenstar wasn't here anymore, and it was hard for Cedarbrook to really understand that. She knew that the fact was true; Lynxstep wouldn't have told the Clan otherwise had Goldenstar still been alive. Cedarbrook didn't want to believe the truth that Goldenstar really was gone. With a slight sigh, the she-cat looked up as she heard Lynxstep call out for the patrols. Cedarbrook padded over towards Lynxstep, nodding to the deputy and future leader. "I believe that I should be alright to patrol." She mewed, glancing back to see if the other cats in the patrol were coming before glancing back to Lynxstep.

~~~
~ Bluepaw ~
-- ReedClan -- Apprentice -- Tom -- 8 moons -- Mentor: Wildpath--
_________________________________________
~~~

Bluepaw remained still for a few more moments, even as Wildpath had begun to speak. Soon after his mentor had finished his sentence, the apprentice stood back up onto his paws, shaking out his pelt and trying to brush the leaf away with a paw. "Yeah, I was worried that I would have moved; at least a bee didn't land on me instead." Bluepaw mewed in response to Wildpath's first comment, before thinking of what he would want to learn next. "Hmm... I would be interested in learning about another defensive move, do you know of any more moves like that?" Bluepaw meowed, waiting to hear Wildpath's response. He hoped that he would someday be one of the best warriors that ReedClan had ever known, and that stories of him would be told to future generations to come. He knew that he definetly needed to be a good fighter, however; and knew that it wouldn't be likely that he'd ever be anything else other than a normal warrior. If only I were a better fighter. Bluepaw thought, glancing back up at Wildpath.

Sandstripe
-Reedclan-Tom-Warrior-Apprentice: soon Bravepaw-With: Badgerclaw-

Sandstripe cocked his head, bright blue eyes looking at Badgerclaw pensively. There was something about how the elder was acting that he wasn't sure about. Maybe it was just him being paranoid though. When Badgerclaw asked him to fetch some moss, he thought it was odd, seeing as the stream was so close, but he couldn't question the will of the clan elders. The request brought him back to his apprentice days, when he was always being sent in and out of camp to fetch one thing or the other. "Of course, Badgerclaw," he said, nodding respectfully. With that, he stood, walking away from the elder and leaving the camp so that he could fetch what he had been bidden.

Ivyfoot
-Reedclan-She-Cat-Medicine Cat-Apprentice: Crystalpaw-With: Crystalpaw-

Ivyfoot hadn't realized that Crystalpaw was out with the other apprentices. If she had known, she might have let her carry on instead of interrupting her livery. When Crystalpaw returned to the den and explained what she had been doing, Ivyfoot purred. Crystalpaw had gotten a good deal done while she had been out. "Oh, I didn't gather any this time," Ivyfoot said with a shrug. "The catmint plants are still growing strong near the gathering tree, and I found a chamomile supply near our northern border with Gorgeclan. I was surprised to find some this late into leaf-fall. But it should come in handy. And the rest of the patrol had already left by the time I was ready to head out, so I decided to go on my own. It wasn't too bad. I can finish organizing these herbs if you want. You can spend time with the other apprentices or gather herbs or whatever you'd like."

{Sorry everyone, something came up so I couldn't come on as much. Hopefully, I'll be able to come on everyday soon. Once again, my deepest apologies for the lack of commenting.}

Doing: Gathering the patrols

Lynxstep heard Dapplespots comments, and glanced over her shoulder at him. She felt a bit bad for not answering his question, but her attention turned to Cedarbrook. She nodded, her pale yellow eyes still a bit clouded with sorrow. She took another deep breath before speaking again, "Alright, thank you. For now we'll wait for the rest, they should be coming soon." She curled her fluffy tail over her nimble paws.

Thoughts weighed heavily on the young, elegant she-cat's shoulders, once again. To her, the most stress was focused on the closest gathering. To see her former clan's reaction, her two siblings' reactions. She watched the movements of her clan, nervously. What if this would spark something larger than anger? Oh, I'm just psyching myself out! A thing like this couldn't spark anything too huge... We'll be fine.

Crush: N/A

Mood: Upset/Worried
Doing: Wondering what she should do now.

Palepaw slowly stood to her paws, sighing sadly as she watched Lynxstep get the patrols ready. Her ears folded against her head. She still slightly questioned the young deputy in her leadership skills. Sure, she was strong-hearted, determined, but she certainly couldn't compare to Goldenstar. She gave a final, quieter sigh and murmured to herself, "If she leads the clan in a good direction, then I suppose I have no room to judge."

She pushed her original worries aside and quickly changed her thoughts to something else. What was there for her to do? Maybe find Lonespirit, but perhaps he wasn't ready to begin his day quite yet. Maybe she could go back to sleep, but then again, what kind of help would that be? She began to gaze at her small paws, inching deep into thought.

Wildpath was about to say something, when he stopped himself. He flicked his tail and thought for a moment, reciting a few techniques in his mind. He finally came up with one, and looked at his apprentice, nodding. "Indeed, and I have a good one to learn. This one is a bit of a defensive, and at the same time, offensive move. The belly rake."

The lean, handsome tom paused for a slight moment to gain his thoughts. "This move is mainly offensive, but when your pinned to the ground by your back, this will help you out a lot. Clearly, there are a lot of dangers on your part with your belly being exposed, but the attack's belly will be exposed too if you're on your back." He took a moment to circle his apprentice, examining his build carefully. "Also, considering your somewhat small height, I believe this will come easily to you. Are you ready to begin?"
