The morning sun rising above the mountains reached the stallion as he watched over the valley, his long tail swaying gently behind him. This was the perfect time of day for him, these few hours before other equids would begin to arrive, seeking the tender young grasses that grew here. Shaking out his mane, the equine creature made his way towards said grass, his long ears tilted forward. His small hooves were quiet on the ground as he picked his way around the larger stones that could cause him to lose his balance. Finally he reached his destination, and with a happy huff, he began to graze, tearing up long strands of grass and keeping a watchful eye on his environment. After all, you never knew what could be watching.

Yes! There was still a sheen of snow on the ground on this side of the mountain, something that the mare was very happy about. Tossing her tail, the mare broke into a canter, sending a plume of snow into the air behind her. Flattening her ears against her skull, she plowed into the powder, sending an even larger cloud around her. Finally the snow cleared, revealing the grey standing knee deep in snow, her ears perked and eyes shining. A few moments passed before she wheeled around and made her way back towards the top of the mountain to do it all over again. She was unaware of any danger that might have been near her at the moment, but she didn't care. After all, what will be will be, right?

Menegerie looked around at her surroundings nervously, unsure where to go next. It had been days since she had seen another equid, and the loneliness was beginning to get to her. Although rather introverted by nature, and often preferring to have her own privacy, there came a time when she simply needed to hear the sound of another of her kind. It was at this point she began seriously considering the wisdom in leaving one of the few friends she had, Shiana. But with her having a new foal to take care of, and a slowly growing herd, it had just seemed right to take the time to find her own future. Menagerie had thought she could handle the solitude and have the courage this task would need, but it seemed now that her friend had truly been the fuel of her courage, and now, without her, the coldness of loneliness and anxiety was beginning to once again invade. Of course, at any time she could turn around and return to that herd. They would surely welcome her back in a heartbeat. But all the same, something within her held her back...

Raising her blue eyes to look closely at her surroundings, despair rose to consume her. As what always happened when she had these small fits, panic began to rise in her throat and she couldn't help but pace rapidly forward, the overwhelming sense of fear driving her onward. As always, the panic arose not from a physical object, but rather the thoughts in her own mind. The worries of never being able to belong, to always be the loner, and to never be able to get over her anxiety attacks filled her with fear. Menagerie forcefully slowed her already rapid breathing, and placed each hoof forward a little slower. Perhaps it wasn't the perfect solution, as her mind still teemed with the negative thoughts, but at least now her anxiety was no longer shown so outwardly. It was a technique she had learned fairly early on, in order to combat the strange looks she always received when expressing her panic attacks outwardly; including those from her mother. Shaking her head, Menagerie forced the painful memories from her mind, and instead glanced once more around, hoping that in time she would be able to find other equids...

    kyorkyu ;;
    Kyorkyu burst out of the snowy bushes, shaking his head and rearing joyfully at the fun coolness of the fresh snow. It sprayed all around him and he whinnied happily. Just then he noticed the lovely mare he'd burst out on. She looked startled, and concerned. [I'm talking about Menagerie -- he just doesn't know her name] Embarrassed, he brought his hooves back to the earth and ducked his head down a little, tucking his tail between his legs. "Sorry," he stammered, blushing. "I--I didn't notice you there," he said, thinking of how immature and ridiculous his antics must have looked.

    nymph ;;
    Nymph stayed in the bushes, watching in wonder the carefree mare prancing around in the snow [Faustine]. She almost wanted to join her, but she knew she'd never get up the nerve. She ducked back further into the bushes at the thought of it. She was content just to watch the snow flying and the happiness of the other mare ...

Menegerie raised her head, suddenly becoming aware of a strange noise. The pounding of hooves and the crackling of underbrush raced towards her. A stallion burst from the snow capped bushes just in front of her, and in panic she leaped back, heart pounding painfully. Cold snow sprayed from his impact as he raised himself into a rear, and threw his head up in a carefree motion. He appeared momentarily oblivious to her presence, and she skittered back, tail tucked down and panic once again rising within her. Meeting new equids had never been her strength, and now she had no words as the stallion planted all four hooves on the ground, embarrassment flickering across his muzzle.

Menagerie quietly listened as the stallion apologized, shifting her hooves nervously as he spoke. "I-It's alright," she stammered back quietly, voice barely audible. Her blue eyes glanced away as she was unsure how to continue, all words seeming to have escaped from her mind. Embarrassment from her lack of words hitched her anxiety up again, and she struggled to maintain her composure. It wouldn't do to start scaring away equids she had just met. Desperately trying to get her mind off her growing anxiety, she shook her mane, causing a few flakes of snow that had been scattered by the stallion's antics to fall to the ground.

Name: Necro
Age: 5
Gender: Stallion
Personality: Necro is a quiet stallion, speaking only when he needs to and saying only what he needs to say. However, he is not afraid of speaking his mind, whether it is offensive or not, and will gladly step up to be a leader like figure when none is in place. He enjoys speaking to friends, and often connects too quickly to others, causing an ending of heartbreak. He tries not to be too emotional, but sometimes it just gets the best of him. He unfortunately also has a short temper, and tries to be as respectful as possible.
Link: Necro
Herd: He much prefers to walk alone with maybe a friend or two, though if someone accepts him into a herd he will gladly defend it.

Suddenly the gray mare froze, her muscles quivering as she held her head up, searching the landscape around her. Something was different somehow, which put the equid on edge. Finally she spotted the other mare, and as quickly as she'd gone on alert, she relaxed. Tossing her tail, she trotted over to the watcher, carefully keeping her body language open. "Hi!" Glancing behind her at the snow that was torn up from her earlier blast through it. Tossing her head, she took a step back, turning her eyes back to the mare. "C'mon! Come play with me!" Rearing up, she spun around, whinnying loudly in excitement.

She'd been wandering for a while and as the sunlight spread across the land in a blink of golden light, Pipit let out a thankful sigh. She paused a moment to look down at her thickly-striped legs - yep, every joint intact. It had been perilous during the early morning, with the foggy near-dark causing her a good amount of stress as she had picked her way over the low rolls of the foothills. She took a deep breath in and let it out; it always amused her to see it swirl before her whiskery nose. Her spring-green eyes blinked and scanned the land revealed before her by the rise of the sun. It seemed like a good land, a broad expanse of grass buffered on two sides by an impressive mountain range. Her white-tipped tail flicked off one bothersome fly as she carefully surveyed the gentle slope that dropped down before her. If she could make it down this hill intact...there was the promise of a filling breakfast below. The black-masked mare shuffled back and forth, whickering softly in mild distress, before shaking herself out - it was a way to relieve her anxiety. Biting her lip, she tentatively placed one hoof on the slope...and nothing bad happened. Another hoof...and still nothing bad. Pipit's ears flicked upright and she began to carefully pick her way through the boulders.

"Ah, thank the seasons for that sun..."
The stallion blinked a few times before yawning and clearing his throat again. He always sounded so raspy when he first woke up...it was very unattractive. Smacking his lips, he slowly rose up onto his hooves and indulged in a good shake that began at his nose to end at the tip of his thickly-haired tail. He chewed at the quipping near his hindquarters and after getting rid of that obnoxious itch, he considered his waking process nearly complete. The morning air at this altitude was rather chilly and he felt blessed for having a thicker coat. His amber eyes caught the morning sunlight momentarily as he stared down at the valley below. Yes, it felt vain somehow that he momentarily considered himself as an eagle, watchful and mighty from above, but then again... The stallion smirked. He knew he was gorgeous. As if refuting his claim, his back leg zinged him with a sharp pain, sharp enough to make him wince. Gritting his teeth, he kicked the leg and prayed that the cold wouldn't aggravate it further. There had been some worrying numbness, but he had tried to ignore it. He minced over to the small mountain stream and took a deep drink. It was icy with snowmelt. Far-off sounds reached his ears and he was shocked to realize that it sounded like...voices. Droplets dripped from his chin as he craned his head around to look up at the ridge above. Well...I'll be fly-struck. It's like a gathering, he thought as he watched the distant Equids move about. Hmm...maybe they would know about Livius's daughter... Whipping his tail like a predatory cat, Kiragg began to slowly pick his way up the slope.

Necro
It was such a pity, he had been restless all night and barely got an hours worth of rest. He had kept himself busy by watching the stars, but a rather irritating owl was to blame. The sunset had been a pleasant sight to watch, the pink rays stretching across the sky like a red carpet announcing a celebrity's arrival. The Grullo stallion was currently resting under a pine tree with a rough, strong trunk. A brief snort, and he was heaving himself up, towering onto all fours and shaking out a mohawk-like mane, shaking pine needles and dirt out. He took a quick smell of the air, and released it in a soft nicker. Now for breakfast, and maybe socialization. Necro picked his way over rocks and fallen, rotten trees. Life and death, living under the same canopy. It was fascinating. The tuft of dark brown fur at the end of a long tail dragged lightly along the ground, the dirt just blending in. Evergreen orbs glanced from place to another, catching the movement of chipmunks and thrushes, the flash of a chickadee. Long ears perked forward, alert and careful. There would no surprising this stallion, no chance.
